The Necromancer's Fourth Catastrophe
Chapter 46: Demon Core
CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: DEMON CORE
The first to be enhanced was the Iron Black Pot.
The other players waiting for enhancement lined up outside, while the Iron Black Pot followed Fang Ka into the Divine Hall first.
Walking into the Divine Hall, Fang Ka stepped up to the Holy Pool and then poured in a single portion of the Basic Enhancement Alchemy Potion.
A single portion of the Basic Enhancement Alchemy Potion isn’t much, but it doesn’t matter. This potion will have a violent reaction with the Undead Skeleton, and as soon as it makes contact, it will be absorbed completely.
He gestured to the Iron Black Pot, "Lie in there and receive the blessing."
The Iron Black Pot curiously glanced at the liquid inside the Holy Pool and then stepped in to lie down.
At first contact, he didn’t feel anything unusual. After a dozen breaths, the liquid suddenly started to gather around him like iron filings drawn to a magnet and soon began to seep into his bones.
He observed noticeably that his bones seemed to gain a layer of faint red, but it quickly faded away.
"Alright, let the next one in," Fang Ka waved his hand, indicating for the Iron Black Pot to get up.
"Okay, Mage Fang Ka, I’ll call the next one now," the Iron Black Pot said, waving his arms as he walked out.
Watching the Iron Black Pot leave, Fang Ka started contemplating something.
He was thinking about finding someone to help him with the Blood Pool Enhancement task.
Initially, summoned creatures could be ruled out; the Undead that Mage Apprentices summon from the Netherworld are the lowest level, with an intelligence frustratingly low.
These creatures can only execute the most basic commands, and making them responsible for the Blood Pool Enhancement is as absurd as asking cats and dogs to solve calculus.
Finding a player to take charge doesn’t seem reliable either.
Never mind the cunning minds of players, just the fact that every enhancement requires deducting coins and points is troublesome enough.
"It seems the best option might be getting some high-intelligence, obedient NPCs..."
Fang Ka mused silently, suddenly remembering the Water Element Magic Array at the volcano.
"Down there... better head back later and see if there are any clues left by the old geezer in the Underground Library."
Fang Ka was quite swift in enhancing these players, deducting their points and currency, placing a single potion into the Holy Pool, and then letting them lie in it, completing the process in one go.
Although this round of reward pool allocation allowed many players to qualify for one Blood Pool Enhancement, there were still many who just missed the mark.
Therefore, conducting Blood Pool Enhancements for these players did not waste much of Fang Ka’s time.
Besides those undergoing the Blood Pool Enhancement, Mr. Zhou exchanged for a magic book on (Basic Death Wrap), while Mr. Qian exchanged for a Meditation Skill book and a (Basic Curse Weakening) magic book.
It was evident the two had coordinated, as they didn’t exchange for the same magic.
After that, the group of players went to work on the team mission for steel refining.
The reward pool for the steel refining team mission was quite generous, and these players seemed very motivated.
Fang Ka didn’t pay attention to them; he was busy searching through the Underground Library, hoping to find some references about the Water Element Magic Array at the volcano.
Kain, when conducting important alchemy experiments, would write down some notes afterward.
Though Fang Ka wasn’t sure if this was a habit only during significant alchemy experiments or if it applied to all important events.
The Underground Library was vast, and finding something unknown to exist wasn’t easy.
Fang Ka spent two hours searching the Underground Library and found some anomalies in a corner.
He leaned down and tapped gently a few times, confirming the space below was hollow.
Extending his hand, he tried a few moves, creating a small gap in the floor tile, then pried it open, revealing the scene beneath.
It was a stone box, containing unknown content inside.
Fang Ka took a deep breath and then lifted the stone box from below.
The stone box wasn’t locked, nor did it have any particular protective measures; it was just a simple stone box.
Fang Ka pried open the lid of the stone box forcefully, and what he saw inside stunned him.
A deep black cylindrical object with an eerie, dark glow gleaming on it, giving Fang Ka a feeling of intense power.
"A Demon Core?" Fang Ka looked at the item in the box with some shock.
Over these days, Fang Ka had taken many books from the Underground Library to read, one of which introduced the Demon Core.
The Demon Core, also known as the ’Magic Treasure’ by some, has only one function, which is to store magic.
Crafting a Demon Core is extremely challenging. The stronger the magic it needs to contain, the more absurd the difficulty of crafting the Demon Core, often increasing geometrically.
This item was initially created by a mage named Beasley Fermi.
It’s said that this Legendary Mage had a daughter he cherished immensely, named Alice Fermi.
Due to Beasley’s indulgence, Alice grew up extremely spoiled and arrogant, causing untold troubles and needing Beasley to constantly resolve them.
Alice was just an ordinary person, neither a Mage nor even a Knight, and hence had no power to protect herself.
Beasley worried greatly for her safety since she provoked many, and he couldn’t always guarantee Alice’s protection.
So, through various alchemical experiments, he eventually developed the ’Demon Core.’
This could store his magic, and at critical moments, Alice could activate it to protect herself as an ordinary person.
This item, due to its insanely difficult crafting process and the rare materials required, could even be used by regular people, which led many mages to prefer calling it a (Magic Treasure).
Many mages laughed and mocked after Beasley’s death: a daddy’s girl could also promote the development of magic.
Of course, regardless of Beasley’s intentions, the invention of the Demon Core indeed had significant meaning.
The method of making the Demon Core was leaked after Beasley’s death when his daughter handed over all his Alchemy Notes.
It’s said that this was also at Beasley’s behest.
At least, because of handing over these Alchemy Notes, his daughter received care from many forces at the time.
Besides, she herself held many Demon Cores, so she eventually lived her life out peacefully.
This, considering Alice had provoked countless people, was a true miracle.
Beasley, the Legendary Mage, could be said to have protected his daughter until death.
Later, as some of these forces declined, the method of making Demon Cores finally appeared in the public eye.
Of course, appearing is one thing, but their manufacturing difficulty remains a barrier, and the rarity of materials needed ensures it’s not something an ordinary mage can produce.
Suddenly, Fang Ka noticed a note under the Demon Core.
He gently picked it up.
