The Player's POV
Chapter 34: Evelyn Evernight [2]
CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: EVELYN EVERNIGHT [2]
In Atlas Academy, using magic without permission was taboo.
But now, Kael could hear someone using it.
There were only two reasons why a student would use magic without permission.
The first was that the person was in danger.
But based on the voice of the person using the magic, and the mocking laughter that Kael heard, that was impossible.
"If that’s the case, then the other reason is..."
Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but feel anxious.
Realizing the seriousness of the matter, he quickened his pace.
The second reason why a student would use magic without the professor’s permission was to bully someone.
Sure enough, what Kael feared had actually happened.
There, deep in the forbidden forest, was a group of people, both male and female, wearing expensive clothes and with beautiful faces, proving that they had spent a lot of money to take care of themselves.
Surely, they were the children of nobles, and at the same time, they were the ones who usually bullied others in the academy.
All of them were surrounding a girl wearing a uniform that had been worn out by time.
Furthermore, she...
"...Huh?"
For a moment, he was overwhelmed and stunned.
The first reason was because of her beauty.
If he were to give her a nickname, Kael would not hesitate to call her "The Incarnation of Beauty."
The second reason was because of her status.
Unlike the 20th floor’s story, he hadn’t skipped the 21st floor’s story while playing Tower of Glory.
Therefore, with just a glance, he recognized who she was.
That long, flowing platinum hair, those blood-red eyes, and that cold, unapproachable face...
...There was no doubt that she was Evelyn Evernight.
Used to be a slave, now a commoner, at least for the time being.
In the future, 2 weeks to be exact, she would become the vessel that would bring the Rust Seraph into this world, and destroy it.
In a way, she was the villain of this arc.
’How lucky, who would have thought I would meet the villain on the first day.’
But unfortunately, she was currently being bullied, her clothes were torn in many places, and her body had some serious injuries.
No!
Kael had to save her right away!
He had to "tame" this beautiful villain!
***
— I am so tired.
Evelyn was really exhausted.
It felt like her body had just fought against over 100 monsters, and was forced to use magic without rest for 5 hours straight.
How long would these demons in human form continue to torture her?
Were they still not satisfied?
"Leader, didn’t we go too far today? What if Evelyn really got seriously injured and died?"
Evelyn raised her eyebrows.
’That’s right, you damn fat guy, tell your leader to leave me alone.’ She thought sarcastically.
"Huh? So what? Why would I care about this SLAVE’s life? She’s just a SLAVE, after all. No one gives a shit about a SLAVE, am I right?"
The so-called "leader" replied in a scornful tone.
She even emphasized the word "slave" to force Evelyn to remember her status.
The leader lifted her chin, treated Evelyn like a dog, and gave a disgusting smile.
"You’re a SLAVE, right? So it’s okay if we kill you, right?"
Reality was cruel.
Obviously, Evelynn had the power and ability to wipe out this bunch in a flash.
But because of the gap in status between them, she couldn’t do that.
The children of nobles often had very high egos, they hated those who were superior to them in every way, and Evelyn coincidentally happened to be that person.
What was more beneficial for the bullies was that she was once a slave, a cold person, no one close enough to call a friend
Facing the leader that everyone feared, she only gave a contemptuous smile.
"I know very well that you don’t have the guts to kill me."
Evelyn spat.
Despite being bullied so badly, she never allowed herself to yield to these evil people.
Because if she did, it would be no different from surrendering to them.
"You stupid bitch."
A vein appeared on the leader’s face.
"Keep attacking her with magic. I want to see how much longer this bitch can take it."
She backed away, only giving orders but never actually participating in the bullying.
Following the command, the three nearby people raised their palms towards Evelyn, starting to chant:
"O blazing heart of the crimson sun, form in my palm and unleash your wrath..."
A fireball that used the flame and heat of the sun appeared in their palms.
’Hmm?’
Although she had been tormented by this attack many times, this time, these three fireballs were especially bright.
’Are they going to use all their strength?’
Expressionless, she thought.
Evelyn would definitely not be able to survive if she took all three of those fireballs.
She needed to be prepared.
’With every drop, you form a tide; with every breath, you protect my soul. Become my shield, fluid and unyielding.’
As soon as that fireball struck, a water shield would immediately cover her body.
Reducing the damage to the minimum.
"Ignite!"
They shouted, and at the same time, released the thing in their palms.
Like hungry beasts, the three fireballs with heat comparable to lava flew towards her at a speed that could not be underestimated.
Under the gloating eyes of all the bullies watching.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s brain and eyes were working at full capacity, accurately calculating their speed and distance.
But, all her efforts were unnecessary.
Because Kael had arrived.
[Authority of Gluttony.]
The darkness appeared, successfully swallowing the three fireballs, erasing them from reality instantly.
The next second, under the eyes of the bullies and Evelyn, a dark figure suddenly rushed out from behind a nearby tree, standing in front of her.
Not allowing anyone to have a chance to hurt her.
Recognizing Kael’s existence, the leader raised her eyebrows, then let out a mocking smile.
"Oh, what’s this? You want to play the hero saving the beauty?"
"..." Kael didn’t reply, just glared at her.
He had already assessed the entire situation.
These bullies were a bunch of bastards, so there wouldn’t be any problems if he killed them.
If they made a move, the next place they would stay for the rest of their lives would be underground.
Not getting the answer she wanted, the leader continued:
"Stop joking. Tell me, who are you to bother us? I don’t know you, that means you’re not a noble, right?"
"...Who am I?" He muttered.
Then, an involuntary smile appeared on the corner of his lips.
"I’m Kael Draven - her boyfriend, is there a problem?"
At that moment, the most important person in Evelyn’s life had appeared.
