Chapter 38: The Way He Loves [3]
CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: THE WAY HE LOVES [3]
"Alright everyone, we have a new student today, let’s welcome him!"
The professor stood on the podium, his voice drowning out all the other chatter of the students.
But unfortunately, they continued to talk.
Only a few remained silent, paying attention to his words.
Sighing, the professor turned towards the classroom door.
"Alright Kael Draven, you can come in now."
The door opened, and from there, a handsome young man walked in, exuding the demeanor of an experienced adult, strangely charming.
The moment he stepped into the classroom, all the chatter had completely evaporated.
The space seemed to hold its breath, welcoming the presence of Kael Draven.
Currently, the class was divided into two groups.
The first group were those who were stunned by his handsomeness.
The second group were those who recognized who he was - those who tortured Evelyn yesterday.
Those people were glaring at him with wary gazes, but their eyes still flashed with hatred and unwillingness.
However, Kael did not pay any attention to those things.
He stood indifferently beside the professor, then glanced around the classroom.
His eyes finally stopped on the villainess - the cold girl who was sitting at the back of the class, looking out the window with a thoughtful gaze.
An involuntary smile appeared on the corner of his lips.
Unintentionally causing the hearts of many girls to beat wildly.
"Alright, introduce yourself."
"..."
He forced a smile, then opened his lips:
"Hello everyone, I am Kael Draven, a new transfer student. I am a commoner, not a noble or anything. I hope to receive your help."
He had no intention of introducing himself in detail.
He would be leaving in a month anyway, or maybe less.
"..."
The classroom was still quiet, the only sound was the wind outside hitting the windows.
But this time, the feeling that the silence brought had changed.
Kael could feel that the attitudes of his classmates towards him had changed 180 degrees after knowing that he was a commoner.
That was only natural, nobles and commoners could not live under the same roof.
Sensing the atmosphere, the professor tried to mediate:
"Okay, okay, now choose your seat, Kael."
"Then can I sit next to Evelyn?" He replied, with a bright smile on his face.
The professor was startled, his eyes became panicked, clearly worried.
"...Are you sure you want to sit with her?"
Kael knew all too well what the hell was going on in the professor’s head.
This professor, and probably all the other professors in the academy, knew about Evelyn being the target of bullying, and always being isolated by everyone.
Therefore, he didn’t want him to accidentally be targeted by those bullies.
Disgusting.
’He knew she was being bullied, but did nothing. And now he’s turning to worry about me? What a "great" professor.’
He thought sarcastically.
"Yes, I’m sure."
Kael kept that confident smile, making the professor reluctant to accept.
"Alright, as you wish."
Just waiting for that, he didn’t give the professor any more glances.
Just standing near that man made him uncomfortable.
Slowly, Kael walked to the seat next to Evelyn, but then...
Most of the students suddenly put their legs out of the table to block his way, making him lose face in front of the entire class.
"..."
He silently glanced at those feet, then turned his gaze towards the professor.
"..."
The man chose to pretend to be blind, deliberately ignoring what was happening to him.
’Maybe I overestimated him.’ Kael let out a deep sigh.
Atlas Academy was a miniature society.
Where those with power and money were at the top of the pyramid, and those without were at the bottom.
Not far away, the leader of the bullies, also known as Sarah, was giving a mocking smirk.
Needless to say, it was all her orders.
’...That bitch. Didn’t she learn her lesson yesterday?’
Those with power and a pile of money in their hands were truly terrifying, no one dared to oppose them.
Except for one type of person.
The natural enemy of those with money - the madmen who were not afraid of death.
Without saying anything, and without warning, he raised one leg.
Then, under the eyes of all the students, and that "respectable" professor, he stomped down on the feet that were blocking his way.
One by one.
With a smile on his face.
Crack!
The crisp sound of bones breaking rang out, sounding extremely horrifying.
Followed by the shrill screams and curses of Kael’s victims.
"Damn it!"
"Fuck!"
"You bastard! Why did you do this!?"
All of these people were children of nobles, so obviously, they had never had their legs broken like this before.
In just a moment, the entire classroom became extremely chaotic.
But even so, Kael continued to break their legs, not sparing a single one, with a gleeful smile on his lips.
"Die, you bastards! This is the price you have to pay for deliberately making things difficult for me!"
While everyone was looking at him with fear and disgust, Evelyn at the back of the class had a different reaction from them.
Her eyes widened a little more than usual, a flash of surprise, mixed with a bit of interest.
A slight smile suddenly appeared on her cool, gorgeous face.
Evelyn didn’t even notice that she was smiling.
And so, in the end, Kael was found guilty of intentional injury.
However, even after the verdict, evidence, and punishment were given, all the other professors and even the academy’s dean couldn’t help but feel suspicious.
That was only natural.
Because in the entire history of the academy, there had never been a new student who broke the legs of more than 10 of his classmates on the first day.
***
Later that night, after a long day of chaos, Kael returned to Evelyn Evernight’s house.
"Blood, cease your fall. Flesh, seal your scar. Let life hold firm where death once touched. Heal."
A warm, pale green aura surrounded his body, healing the wounds from the fight this morning.
It felt so comfortable.
It was as if he was lying in the arms of Mother Nature.
The pain was slowly fading away.
"You really are a hot-tempered person, aren’t you?"
Evelyn asked.
But her deep, abyssal eyes were not directed towards him, but towards the moon shining in the night sky.
Kael looked around, confirmed that there was no one around, and that the question just now was meant for him, before answering her question.
"Me? I was hot-tempered?"
"Yeah. You could have held back, like I did."
"..."
"..."
Silence swallowed both of them.
"...Why didn’t you fight back, Evelyn? You’re the academy’s genius, after all."
"I tried, but it didn’t work."
Her voice was calm and cold, without a trace of discomfort as she uttered those words.
Kael raised his eyebrows.
"If the person who bullied me was the child of a common noble, then things would have been easier. But unfortunately, that person is the daughter of a duke."
So that was how things were.
Indeed, Atlas Academy definitely wouldn’t have the guts to touch a duke, who was second only to the royal family.
"Of course I tried reporting to the academy, but do you know what the result was?"
"..."
"Her family only needs to give money, or maybe just say a simple sentence, and the academy will instantly ignore this bullying, and let Sarah continue to act recklessly."
"..."
"That’s unfair, right?"
"...So... you’re not going to do anything and just endure it?"
If that was true, then Kael could be sure that this wasn’t the Evelyn he knew in the game.
But thankfully...
"Of course not."
She replied in a nonchalant tone.
"How can I forgive them?"
His eyes lit up, as if filled with millions of twinkling stars.
This was truly the villainess he knew.
"Just wait, Kael. The day I strike back is coming soon."
