CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: NO DINNER IN SIGHT

Mrs. Chen thanked Zhao Lizheng, and after he left, she took Liu Lang, carrying the silver, back into the house.

Yun Jiao came out with a smile, "All divided?"

Mrs. Chen was initially feeling extremely down, but seeing her beaming face, she suddenly didn’t feel so bad.

As they entered the house, Jiang Youzhi also tried to pull a smile, "Mom, all divided?"

Mrs. Chen nodded.

Jiang Youzhi then said, "Where’s the document for the division? Let me take a look."

Mrs. Chen had just reached into her bosom to take it out when she suddenly remembered that the document stated Jiang Youzhi wasn’t part of the Jiang Family. This document, she couldn’t let him see.

She forced a smile, "I put the document away, there’s nothing much to see."

Jiang Youzhi felt puzzled. Just now, his mother seemed ready to take it out, so why wasn’t she now?

But he didn’t say anything about it.

Thinking about the secret regarding Sablang’s background, Mrs. Chen felt uneasy. Luckily, Sanya spoke up and broke her awkwardness.

"Mom, what are we having for dinner?"

Mrs. Chen was taken aback. Right, what should they eat? The house not only lacked pots, pans, and bowls, but there wasn’t even a stove.

It’s all her fault for being too impulsive. Still, they should’ve had dinner before sorting things out.

Yun Jiao chuckled again, "Looks like we’ll still have to make a trip to town tomorrow and buy back some pots and pans."

Mrs. Chen said, "I’ll go to the main house and ask if we can borrow their stove tonight."

Yun Jiao shook her head, "Mom, let it be to avoid any fuss. Just pack some rice, and I’ll take it to Sister Guihua’s house to cook."

Mrs. Chen hesitated, "Is that alright?"

Yun Jiao nodded, "Sister Guihua is kind, it’ll be fine."

She went in, packed some rice in a bag, and told Sanya and Liu Lang, "In a bit, when you think it’s about time, go to Sister Guihua’s house to bring back the dishes."

Sanya and Liu Lang nodded vigorously.

Yun Jiao carried the rice and left.

As she neared Guihua’s house, Yun Jiao turned her head sharply and saw a bald child not too far behind her. The child immediately ducked to the side upon seeing her turn.

Yun Jiao pondered to herself; this was the second time she saw this child following her and was unsure what the child wanted.

She knocked on Guihua’s door, and upon entering, Guihua breathed a sigh of relief, "You didn’t come at noon, and I was worried sick. Only after asking around did I find out your Sablang had an issue, so you went to town."

Guihua led Yun Jiao to the kitchen, pointing at the stove, "Look, the braised pork cooked the way you taught me is still untouched."

Yun Jiao smiled, "Thank you, Sister."

"We need to borrow your pots and stove again today."

As she skillfully washed the rice and started cooking, she explained the division situation.

Guihua was genuinely happy for her, "That’s good, your mother-in-law is a kind one, and you won’t have to sneak around to eat meat anymore."

She said as she headed to the backyard, "I’ll go to the veggie patch to pick some greens."

Guihua soon came back with a handful of greens and also brought the eggs laid by her three hens over the past few days.

When the rice was almost done, Yun Jiao began cooking dishes.

Yun Jiao first stir-fried some greens and then scrambled several eggs into a big bowl.

Just as she finished cooking the eggs, Liu Lang and Sanya arrived.

Yun Jiao shared some of the eggs and braised pork with Guihua and her daughter, using a bowl to cover the rest and handed it to Liu Lang.

Sanya carried the greens, Yun Jiao packed the rice into an earthenware pot and carried it home.

As they walked, Liu Lang was beyond excited, constantly looking down at the bowl in his hands, knowing it was full of meat!
