CHAPTER 1396  SPECIAL ATTENTION

Diane observed the Celestials, those famed defenders of reality, who largely claimed that they were the last stand against barbarity sweeping through reality—descend on the countless worlds of the Vyraak Dominion just like locusts alongside the Chaos Bloods. In the period before law and order reasserted itself, she understood that these Primordial Dominions would be plundering as much of reality as they could get away with.

The mode of operation of these two separate attackers was different, but their goals were the same: to harvest every mortal soul that they could find and use them for the valuable resource that they represented.

The Celestials carried multiple ships in their thousands that were larger than stars, each of them shining equally as bright making their shapes to be largely indiscernible. Beams of bright light shone out repeatedly from the ships like strobe lights, and when they reached a planet, every single sentient and sapient organism was collected, leaving the world barren of all life. Souls were a valuable currency that could only be found in the lower realms, and the greed for this resource was inestimable.
