The Prisoner Who Came Back a King
Chapter 2 – He is the one who escaped from prison
Ye Feng looked at the newcomer. He wasn't a stranger; it was Zhou Hai, Liu Hong's husband.
Zhou Hai was a well-known thug in the area, the type who bullied the weak and feared the strong, spending his days in Liancheng's bars and various entertainment venues.
With a few lackeys following him, he fancied himself a big shot, but in reality, he was at the bottom of the thug hierarchy.
As soon as Liu Hong saw her husband, she quickly began to cry and complain, pointing at Ye Feng, "Husband, it's this bastard. He wants us to move out and even hit me."
Zhou Hai's face darkened upon hearing this. This brat dared to act recklessly at his doorstep.
Rumor had it that Zhou Hai had been working for a boss these past few years, making quite a bit of money and exuding an air of authority.
Ye Feng's past crimes sounded intimidating, but to someone like Zhou Hai, he was just an ex-convict, nothing to be afraid of.
"You're asking for it!"
Zhou Hai lunged forward, swinging his fist at Ye Feng with a cold smile on his lips.
In Zhou Hai's eyes, Ye Feng looked lean and not at all like someone who could take a hit. He thought his punch would easily take him down.
Zhou Hai had made a name for himself on the streets because he was ruthless and could fight.
That's why a certain underworld boss had taken notice of him, making him a minor leader under his command.
"Zhou Hai is the local tyrant. Ye Feng is in for it this time."
The onlookers shook their heads, believing Ye Feng would suffer under Zhou Hai's hands.
Liu Hong looked smug, knowing her husband's nature well. When he hit someone, it could mean hospitalization at best, or permanent injury at worst.
Ye Feng sneered. How dare this trash challenge him?
He had once been invited by the military to the northwest plateau, where he had slain a warrior of god-like strength with a single strike.
How could a mere Zhou Hai be worth his attention?
He shifted slightly, easily dodging the attack, and slapped Zhou Hai across the face.
"Slap!"
Zhou Hai staggered back a few steps, a bright red handprint on his face.
Regaining his balance, Zhou Hai was furious. He pulled a knife from his waist and charged at Ye Feng with a vicious look in his eyes, "You bastard, you're dead."
As Zhou Hai approached, Ye Feng smirked, skillfully grabbing his wrist and twisting it hard. Zhou Hai's face froze.
"Ah!"
Zhou Hai let out a blood-curdling scream, mixed with the sound of bones cracking. The intense pain contorted his face, and soon, beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
How could this be?
The excruciating pain made Zhou Hai grit his teeth, unable to believe the immense strength Ye Feng possessed.
"Trash!"
Ye Feng sneered, kicking Zhou Hai away. He crashed into a nearby wall with a heavy thud.
He fell to the ground, rolling back and forth, groaning in pain.
The crowd was stunned, even Liu Hong covered her mouth, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Ye Feng walked towards Zhou Hai step by step. Despite the pain he was in, Zhou Hai was terrified and stammered, "What... what are you going to do?"
Before Ye Feng could speak, Liu Hong, showing her shrewish nature, shouted to the crowd.
"Murder! The ex-convict is committing murder!"
The onlookers began to chatter.
"I never thought Ye Feng was like this. I didn't expect him to be so ruthless."
"Yeah, I heard he went to prison for murder. I can't believe he's out already."
Soon, people started pointing fingers at Ye Feng, especially the gossiping women.
Ye Feng ignored their words. They were just pretending to be ignorant, like fence-sitters.
He turned to Zhou Hai coldly, "Now, move your things out of my house immediately."
Although the house was in the outskirts of Liancheng, it was valuable. With the soaring property prices and the land, it was worth at least a few million.
What kind of people were Zhou Hai and Liu Hong?
One was a thug and bully, the other a shameless shrew.
How could they give up the meat already in their mouths?
Zhou Hai, enduring the pain, glared at Ye Feng with resentment. Having been in the underworld for years, he knew a bit about the law.
Looking at the murderous young man before him, he was puzzled. How could he be out so soon?
Given Ye Feng's crimes, he shouldn't see the light of day for the rest of his life.
Could he have escaped from prison?
Zhou Hai had a thought and became more convinced that Ye Feng had escaped, otherwise, how could a murderer be out in just five years?
Yes, he must have escaped!
If he reported this, Ye Feng would be doomed!
For the first time, he thought of reporting to the police to protect himself. He had always been the one bullying others.
No one had ever pushed him to this point.
"Wife, this bastard must have escaped from prison. Call the police."
Zhou Hai gritted his teeth and shouted to Liu Hong.
Liu Hong snapped out of it, quickly took out her phone, and dialed the police.
"I knew it, he must have escaped."
"With such a serious crime, how could he be out in five years?"
The onlookers, eager for drama, started discussing, unanimously believing Ye Feng was an escaped convict.
Ye Feng remained silent. Reporting to the police was good; it would get this family out and return his house.
That's exactly what he wanted.
After Liu Hong made the call, a few officers arrived at the scene, one middle-aged and two younger ones.
The middle-aged officer, named Li Shi, was a local cop. He looked at Zhou Hai on the ground, a hint of surprise on his face.
Zhou Hai had been around the area for years, and Li Shi was quite familiar with him. They even had some unspeakable dealings.
Seeing a familiar face, Zhou Hai immediately pointed at Ye Feng and shouted, "Officer Li, he's an escaped convict. Arrest him!"
"Yes, he's an escaped convict. Look at what he's done to us!"
Liu Hong, playing the victim, pointed at Ye Feng and shouted.
They insisted Ye Feng was an escaped convict, never mentioning their occupation of his house.
Hearing this, Li Shi became cautious. Without asking questions, he took out handcuffs and grabbed Ye Feng's arm to cuff him.
"Come with me to the station."
Li Shi said coldly.
If Ye Feng was an escaped convict, it would be a big achievement for him. Even if not, he would be doing Zhou Hai a favor.
He could release him later; either way, he wouldn't lose.
Moreover, Ye Feng had assaulted someone in public, giving him enough reason to detain him, so he didn't hesitate to arrest Ye Feng.
"I'm not an escaped convict. Aren't you going to ask what happened here?"
Ye Feng raised his hand, avoiding Li Shi's cold handcuffs, his expression growing dark.
He realized that Li Shi was clearly in cahoots with Zhou Hai, trying to take him away to solve Zhou Hai's problem.
"Do you have any proof?"
Li Shi sneered.
Ye Feng took out a release certificate from his bag and handed it over, "I did serve time, but I've been released. You have no reason to detain me."
Li Shi glanced at the release certificate, then said sternly, "You haven't changed. Just released and already beating someone like this. You're coming with me to the station."
"Handcuff him and take him away!"
Zhou Hai, seeing this, breathed a sigh of relief, secretly pleased, "Hmph, trying to fight me? I'll make sure you suffer inside."
Liu Hong, seeing this, dropped her act, stood up, and pointed at Ye Feng, cursing, "Bastard, let's see how arrogant you can be now?"
Ye Feng's face turned cold. It was clear that Li Shi was colluding with Zhou Hai, like rats and snakes in the same hole.
