Mason burst into manicughter, his voice edged with madness. “The more you care, the more I want you to watch, watch as I destroy the person you love most!”

As he spoke, he drew a knife and pressed it against Sloane’s cheek, poised to slice.

It felt like Lucas‘ heart was being torn apart. His lips trembled as he roared, “Stop!”

Mason paused, turning to Lucas with wild glee in his eyes. “What’s wrong? Hurts, doesn’t it? Then get on your knees and beg!”

Lucas‘ fists clenched tight; his gaze locked on the knife in Mason’s hand. Without hesitation, he dropped to one knee, his voice low and steady, cold as steel. “I’m begging you. Let her go.”

    Sloane’s eyes widened in shock the moment she saw Lucas kneel. Her heart twisted with pain. iLucas/ii, /iisomeone /iso iproud /iiactually /iiknelt /iidown /iito /iibeg /iia /iipiece /iiof /iitrash /iilike /iiMason/i.

He tossed the knife to the floor in front of Lucas and sneered, “Pick it up. Cut off a finger. If you don’t, I’ll take off her hand.”

Lucas didn’t even hesitate. He bent down, picked up the de, and stared Mason down, his voice icy. “Don’t touch her. I’ll do it.”

The second Sloane saw him pick up the knife, panic surged through her. She thrashed against the ropes with everything she had.

The chair creaked beneath her; the ropes tore at her wrists, raw with pain–but none of it mattered. She had to stop him.

Lucas looked up at her, then turned the knife toward the pinky finger on his left hand. The de gleamed under the light–sharp, cold, unforgiving.

Sloane’s pupils shrank; it felt like an invisible hand had clutched her heart, choking the air from her lungs.

Her mouth was still taped shut, so all she could do was let out a muffled sob. A single tear slid down her cheek.

Lucas‘ hand trembled in agony, his face draining of all color. Gritting through the pain, he looked up and met Mason’s eyes with a cold, unwavering stare. “Now let her go.”
