Bonfire 242
Chapter 242 Astro’s Authority
Lucas felt utterly helpless.
Astro walked over as well. “Shoo, shoo, can’t you see the girl just finished her dance and is tired?”
He took Sloane’s hand. “Come on, let’s go upstairs and get something to eat.”
Sloane hesitated, ncing at the banquet guests. “But what about the guests?”
“Aren’t Jim and Lucas still down here? Leave it to them.” With that, he dragged Sloane upstairs without another word.
“The main reason for tonight was to tell everyone you’re my treasured disciple. Anyone thinking of messing with you better think twice.” Astro brought Sloane up to the second floor.
He let out a cold snort, eyes filled with disdain. “Those so–called upper–ss elites are nothing but suck–ups. You don’t need to bother with them, and you definitely don’t need to waste time on useless socializing. With the Ran family backing you, if anyone even dares touch a hair on your head, I’ll make sure they regret it.”
A wave of warmth rose in Sloane’s heart. She knew Astro truly cared about her–his protectiveness came from genuine affection.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you.” Sloane smiled and brewed tea for Astro herself.
Astro suddenly remembered something. “What’s going on with you and Lucas? Be honest- did he bully you?”
He let out a cold huff. “I’ll deal with him myself if he did!”
Sloane burst intoughter. “You’ve got it wrong. I was the one who asked to call off the engagement.”
She exined the entire story behind the engagement and its cancetion.
“That’s what happened.”
Astro’s eyes went wide with shock as he listened, pletely stunned. “Girl, you… you’re the Miracle Doctor everyone talks about?”
Sloane nodded calmly. “Yes. Before the Rivers family brought me back, I had been learning medicine in the mountains with my master.”
Astro took a moment to digest this, then slowly nodded. “For someone your age to have such skill, your master must be remarkable.”
Pride flickered in Sloane’s eyes. “She is indeed a brilliant healer. But she’s always lived in seclusion in the mountains and has no interest in the affairs of the world.”
She looked at Astro. “If there’s ever a chance, I’d love to introduce you two.”
Astro waved a hand. “We’ll talk about thatter. If your master prefers peace and quiet, don’t disturb her.”
Astro clearly understood that Sloane’s master was no ordinary person, but he didn’t try to rope her in or treat Sloane any differently because of it.
That alone proved how genuine his care for her was.
“So, don’t me Lucas. We both agreed to end the engagement.” Sloane refilled his teacup.
“Hmph!” Astro still wasn’t pleased. “He just agreed the moment you brought it up? Didn’t even try to fight for it? Shows he didn’t know what he had. I’ll find you a better fiancé–let’s see him cry then.”
Sloane didn’t dare respond. She had just shed the fiancéebel and didn’t want to be targeted again by some other admirer.
Astro had taken her in as his final disciple and doted on her like a granddaughter. Her status among the Ran family and the other youngdies was just as prestigious.
The moment the news spread, everyone who had been waiting to watch Sloane fall t disappeared like cowards.
Of course, there were still a few jealous voices gossiping behind her back, but none of those dared reach her ears.
With the second npleted, it was time to move on to the third,
