“Jill, Sloane!” Cameron caught up to them just as they were walking out of the school gates.

Jill immediately rushed over and asked, “Well? Did Morgan agree to help?”

Cameron didn’t want to let her down, but he still shook his head. “Hacking into the school’s forum is a serious vition of the code of conduct. If he got caught, he’d be in big trouble–and it could evenpromise the school’s entirework system. So… Morgan said no. And honestly, I can’t me him.”

Jill stomped her foot in frustration. “Then what do we do? If we can’t find out who posted that trash, those people spreading rumors about Sloane are just going to keep getting bolder!”

Hearing her name, Sloane looked over. “What forum? What rumors?”

Jill, fuming, told her about the post smearing her name.

So that’s why those girls had cornered her earlier–Sloane finally understood.

“Don’t worry, Sloane,” Jill said quickly, worried she’d be upset. “Once we figure out who posted it, everything wille to light.”

But Sloane’s face remained calm and unbothered from beginning to end. She nodded easily. “Okay. Let’s go.”

“Huh? Go where?” Jill followed her steps, but her mind was still catching up.

“Somece with aputer,” Sloane said, tilting her head with a mysterious smile.

That smile made Jill’s heart skip a beat. Was it just her, or had Sloane be even prettier in thest day or two? Her skin was brighter, her features more refined, and her smile–so effortlessly captivating.

Jill finally snapped herself out of it. “What do you need aputer for?”

By now, the three of them had arrived at an inte café, Sloane went straight to

Sloane sat down at theputer, her slender fingers flying across the keyboard. Lines of code streamed rapidly across the screen.

Cameron and Jill stood behind her, both glued to the screen, silent. The noise of the café faded into the background. All they could hear was the rhythmic ck of Sloane’s typing.

Suddenly, a pop–up appeared: iFirewall /iibreached /iisessfully/i.

Jill nearly let out a cheer and had to p her hands over her mouth. Her eyes sparkled with shock and admiration.

Sloane didn’t miss a beat. She dove straight into the backend database of the school’s forum and started searching for the post’s original author. Momentster, an IP address and a registered ount popped up.

“Let me see.” Jill leaned in. “Shane from Finance?”

“You know him?” Sloane asked.

Jill curled her lip. “Not personally, but I know of him.” She turned to Sloane. “He’s one of Samantha’s admirers. Back in high school, he snuck into the broadcasting room and confessed to her over the school loudspeakers. She shot him down, of course, but he never gave up. He’s been stuck on her ever since–her number one simp.”

Sloane nodded, already piecing it together.

Jill mmed her fist on the desk. “Ugh, I knew it. This has Samantha’s fingerprints

all over it.”

Cameron noticed that Sloane was still typing and leaned in, puzzled. “Wait, didn’t we already find the guy? What else are you doing?”

Sloane hit the final key, “Oh, the forum’s firewall had some holes in it. I patched them up.”

Jill’s jaw dropped. “Sloane, is there anything you can’t do? You’re seriously

amazing!”
