The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases
Chapter 424 - 257: Dragon God Showdown
CHAPTER 424: CHAPTER 257: DRAGON GOD SHOWDOWN
Before David had a chance to get used to the Decayed Dragon God’s body Farazur had bestowed upon him, he saw the King of the North Wind, Bahamut, pointing a finger at him.
This time, the Platinum Dragon God’s full-force strike was so swift that not even Tiamat or Pafila could intervene in time.
As Bahamut extended his finger, all the snow and wind in his forward vision came to a halt mid-air. It was as if the temperature of this space had suddenly plummeted to the mythical -273.15°C—Absolute Zero.
Wind of Absolute Silence
It seemed as if all Mana Energy particles had ceased movement at that level. Then, with a jab of Bahamut’s finger, it was as though a steel spear had been thrust forcefully into a massive ice sheet.
A conspicuous crack burst forth and spread, separating the approaching Tiamat and Pafila on either side.
And the slanted crack fortuitously severed David, along with the Decayed Dragon God he clutched in his jaws, in half.
Then this unprecedentedly large chunk of ice tilted as if caught in gravity’s pull.
CRACK.
"Damn it!" As the illusion-like stillness reverted to normal, a dizzied David suddenly realized he had been split diagonally into two halves.
Carrying the Decayed Dragon God’s body, his wings inevitably fluttered as both halves began to fly apart—a true depiction of ’each to their own in the face of disaster.’
Frightened, David hurriedly wrapped the Dragon God’s long tail around them, binding his soon-to-be-separate halves back together. He now resembled a giant Mexican squid roll adorned with a pair of decorative ’Demon Wings.’
The two halves of his body were somewhat asymmetrical due to the gravitational tilt. His brainstem and intestines were exposed and squirming, but he could still barely manage to function.
"I’ve grown back together, hehehe."
Authority—Sin of Lust
David’s antics in front of the Dragon God seemed quite successful; at least they amused Tiamat, who, fixing her gaze on the King of the North Wind, taunted,
"Bahamut, who would have thought you’d have a day where you face the disadvantage of numbers."
Hearing this, David couldn’t help but laugh. It seemed the Chromatic Dragon Queen still vividly remembered a past event. She had nearly harvested the spoils of war by killing Gilga with all her might, only to be thwarted and surrounded by his summoned legions in frustration.
But thinking about it, it wasn’t strange. At the very least, he had thwarted Bahamut’s initial plans to remove him from the battlefield.
He was acutely aware that even though he had not yet figured out how to pose a threat to Bahamut with the newly acquired Dragon God’s body, his purpose was clear. As long as he remained on the battlefield and could draw some of Bahamut’s focus, his existence would achieve most of its objective and play its intended role.
His mere presence was a disturbance to Bahamut.
It was just like in MOBA games, where some players look down on tanky top-laners, seeing them as mere nuisances or walking targets in team fights.
But only when facing such a tank themselves do they realize how infuriating a fully developed, incredibly durable, area-controlling nuisance can be.
And in a team fight, as long as that tank absorbs enough damage and abilities, their team is not far from victory.
With this thought, David immediately flapped his large and small pairs of wings and hurled himself towards Bahamut.
However, he did not directly counter with the ’Absolute Zero Fresh Cut’ he had just "stolen."
Using such a move on an ice-affinity Dragon God would be like showing off one’s meager skills before an expert. It would also reveal my key ability to mimic an opponent’s skills.
I still want to learn a couple more tricks from the King of the North Wind’s claws.
But perhaps his intentions were too transparent. After the failed attempt to kill David instantly, Bahamut gave him a deep look and then... tore himself open.
Yes, Bahamut literally split open. His size shrank by at least half, and he transformed into a Primeval Silver Dragon. Then, on his shoulders, two humanoid warriors appeared out of thin air:
An imposing middle-aged human and a dignified Dwarf elder.
Both were clad in armor, one wielding a longsword and the other a battle-axe.
"Marduk! Paladin!" Tiamat sneered.
That fiend Bahamut had summoned two different aspects of himself—one from Babylonian mythos and the other from the Dragonlance Plane.
One of them, Marduk, should have already turned to dust in the tombs of the Astral Plane.
So the summoned Marduk was merely a human demigod incarnation, unlike Paladin, who was a true god incarnation from Dragonlance.
But in Bahamut’s eyes, a demigod was sufficient to handle David, who had somehow managed to control the Decayed Dragon God’s body by unknown means.
From this perspective, David’s last-minute intervention had a greater impact on the battle than he had initially anticipated.
As ’Marduk’ and ’Paladin’ leaped from Bahamut’s shoulders, charging towards David and Pafila respectively, the three-against-one confrontation instantly became a three-versus-three.
Bahamut’s main body then glanced at Tiamat before flying straight towards a location far from the Decayed Divine Realm, as if issuing an invitation.
"Hmph!" Tiamat spread her wings wide and immediately pursued Bahamut. The two dragons, one chasing the other, sped towards the edge of the horizon like two meteors streaking across the sky.
