The Rejected Heiress's Possesive Tycoon Husband
Chapter 108: You Make Some Effort, Too
CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108: YOU MAKE SOME EFFORT, TOO
An Yan searched the room thoroughly, not missing even an inch of the floor!
Soon, she found something wrong with the floor.
"Here, it can be opened!"
Zhang Xuebin immediately took out his tools. As soon as the floor was pried open, a blast of cold air whooshed up.
"It’s the Ice Lake!" A jolt went through An Yan. "Search and see if this island also has a Fire House!"
Zhang Xuebin quickly conveyed this request via walkie-talkie to his colleagues who were searching the island.
A response came swiftly.
"Found the Fire House! It seems like there’s magma below!"
An Yan, following their directions, quickly arrived at the location of the Fire House.
Above the boiling magma, there was an iron plate about eight square meters in size. Above the plate was another room, identical to the one Ling Xiao had stayed in.
Ice Lake! Fire House! An Yan thought.
"If I’m not mistaken, there should be dogs on this island, right?"
"No dogs, only wolves!" a coast guard replied.
An Yan suddenly looked up at the surveillance camera in the corner.
"Gu Shifang?"
Li Tianyao, watching the screen, smiled.
The little girl is clever, but unfortunately, she’s guessed everything wrong. This hell was tailor-made for Gu Shifang. He can reincarnate, can’t he? Well, I’ll let him experience, over and over, the pain he once inflicted on me. Originally, I had a plan involving a thumb ring. After capturing him, I would have just locked him up, kept him locked up until he was old and had but a few days left, only then letting him experience this. But this time, I gave the thumb ring to An Yan. That means I can only use this method to force him to show himself.
What he hadn’t expected was that none of the four people he’d captured admitted to being Gu Shifang. Even more unexpected was that Ling Xiao and the little girl actually had methods of contact that even he didn’t know about!
The left side of the screen displayed the ocean’s weather conditions—an orange-red storm would reach the area in a few hours.
Li Tianyao squinted at An Yan on the screen, his expression gradually turning icy.
"Throw them all out!"
"Yes."
The submarine silently stopped about a thousand meters from the small island.
Ling Xiao, Ya Zhuo, Liang Chen, and Su Siming were pushed out.
"Boss, shouldn’t we separate them?"
"Haven’t you seen the waves outside? As soon as they float up, they’ll be scattered by the waves."
"Oh, got it."
"I bet Ling Xiao will be the first to die! A one-armed man can’t possibly outswim people with two arms!"
"Whose fault is that? His arm is a prosthesis, and it must have some sort of tracking device inside! We had to make an emergency evacuation today because of him!"
"Isn’t Ninth Master being a bit too merciful this time? Why didn’t he just kill them?"
"What do you know! That Ling Xiao belongs to the young mistress! Even if he has to die, it can’t be by our hands!"
"Oh."
After releasing the four men, the submarine quietly departed.
As the men on board had predicted, the four were scattered by the waves as soon as they surfaced.
When a large wave crashed over him, Ling Xiao was the first to regain consciousness.
He immediately began to flounder.
"Help! Damn it! Where the hell is this place now?"
After struggling to orient himself for a moment, Ling Xiao looked around and spotted another head bobbing in the water not far away. He immediately swam over.
"Wake up! Hey, wake up!"
Su Siming opened his eyes, staring groggily and confusedly at Ling Xiao.
"An angel? And a male one at that?"
Ling Xiao scoffed. "You’re the angel! Your whole family are angels!"
Only then did Su Siming realize he was still alive. He quickly rallied his spirits, but his hope deflated again the moment he saw the vast, endless seawater.
"Liang Chen..."
"Liang Chen? The Liang Chen from the Luocheng Liang Family? Then you must be Su Siming!"
"Yes, that’s right. And you? Who are you?"
"My name is Ling Xiao! The CEO of Xinyan Group!"
Su Siming just said, "Oh," and then ignored him, frantically searching the surroundings.
"Liang Chen! Stop dawdling and help me look! He was with me. Since I’m here, he should be around here too."
The two of them trod water, scanning the area.
Unfortunately, all they could see in every direction was endless seawater.
Before they could find anything, another large wave crashed down. If Ling Xiao hadn’t tightly gripped Su Siming, they likely would have been separated.
"Looks like a storm’s brewing. We have to find land!" Ling Xiao said, grasping Su Siming and urging him to swim quickly.
Su Siming was furious. "Can’t you swim by yourself? Dragging you is exhausting!"
"I only have one arm!" Ling Xiao retorted.
"And that makes you right, does it?!" Su Siming snapped.
Despite his grumbling, he stripped off his outer shirt and used it to securely tie his belt to Ling Xiao’s. "There, that should do it! Now you pull your weight too!"
"Alright, alright, let’s swim!"
It was the first time Ling Xiao had ever met someone with a sharper tongue than his own!
A kilometer wouldn’t take long to swim in a pool. But this was the open ocean. The two of them thrashed about for a long time but barely covered a few meters.
The wind and waves grew stronger, the sea constantly surging and crashing. They were like two leaves tossed about in the vast ocean, helplessly adrift.
「On the island.」
A coast guard officer stopped An Yan. "There’s a storm coming. Going out to sea now means you’ll be facing almost certain death."
An Yan asked, "And if I don’t go, what will happen to those in the sea?"
"They’ll have no chance of survival!"
An Yan closed her eyes briefly then opened them with determination. "I have to go save him!"
"I’ll go with you!"
A man stepped out from the crowd. An Yan stared at him in shock. "Second Brother?"
An Duxuan nodded. "I’m ex-special forces. Trust me!"
Xiaohe also stepped forward. "Miss An Yan, I can go too."
"No need." An Yan declined her offer. "I can go by myself. Second Brother, you also shouldn’t..."
Before she could finish, An Duxuan boarded the boat. "You need a captain!"
An Yan, left with no choice, could only nod in agreement.
Under An Duxuan’s command, the small boat set off in the direction An Yan indicated.
Zhang Xuebin took out his binoculars, keeping a vigilant watch on them. An Duxuan piloted the boat expertly, always managing to avoid the worst of the waves.
「At the same time.」
The submarine carrying Li Tianyao had also submerged.
In the heart of the storm, fierce winds and torrential rain battered the sea surface.
One hundred meters below, however, it was perfectly calm, with no hint of the turmoil above.
The wind and waves raged with terrifying force.
Boats on the surface were tossed high into the air, only to be slammed down hard into the troughs.
"Over there!" An Yan cried, pointing toward two dark spots in the churning water.
An Duxuan immediately got the lifeboat ready!
"Grab on!" An Yan shouted, accurately throwing a heavy-duty rescue float right to Ling Xiao.
Minutes later, Ling Xiao and Su Siming were hauled aboard.
"Liang Chen is still out there!" Su Siming yelled, clutching An Yan’s sleeve desperately, terrified she would order the boat to turn back. "An Yan, we can’t leave! Liang Chen is here too! Save him!"
