“After what happenedst time, we’ve decided to move your father back into the mansion with our own private doctorb,/bb” /bDeana said. “It is better that way. The doctors already agreed to such arrangements.”

Emery nodded slowly. In factb, /bshe already expected this to happen. “Did Grandma already agree to that arrangement?”

    “She already did,” James answered.

Emery lowered her bgaze/b, her thoughts circling back to the doctor’s words. Her father might never wake up. He wasn’t brain- dead, but the risk of permanent unconsciousness bwas /bstill there. Even if he opened his eyes again, there was ba /bstrong chance he would never recover fully. The possibility that he would remain bedridden for the rest of his life was something no one wanted to ept.

But she couldn’t lose hope. Not yet. She still needed answers, about her mother, about the past. And in her mind, the only person who could tell her the truth was Adam.

“I’ll leave you two for a moment,” James said, breaking her thoughts. “I need to finish the paperwork for the transfer.” He gave them both a quick nod before stepping out.

Deana moved to sit down, her posture heavy. Emery followed, helping her stepmother into the chair. Up close, the signs of exhaustion were obvious, dark circles under her eyes, her shoulders stiff, her lips pressed into a thin line. She wasn’t crying anymore, but she looked like someone who hadn’t slept in days.

“James told me you’ve been staying in the car downstairs,” Emery said quietly. “You need to rest.”

Deana gave a faint smile, her hands folding on herp. “I didn’t want to leave the hospital. What if something happened while I was gone?”

Emery reached over and ced her hand on hers. “Everything will be alright,” she said.

The words came out steady, but inside, Emery wasn’t sure if she was trying to reassure Deana or herself.

Deana squeezed her hand lightly and nodded. “Adam is strong. He always has been.”

Emery forced a smile and nodded in return. “Yes. He is.b” /b

Momentster, James returned with a folder in hand, looking brisk and businesslike. “Everything’s in order,” he said. “The doctor will oversee the transfer tomorrow.”

Emery stood. “Then I’ll head back for now. Call me if anything changes.”

She gave Deana onest nce before stepping out into the hallway, where James was already waiting. They exchanged a few quick words about the transfer ns, then parted ways. Emery made her way out of the hospital, her mind still heavy with everything she had heard.

Thest thing she expected was to find Logan standing in the parking lot beside his car. He looked perfectly at ease, as if he had been waiting there for some time.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, pausing in surprise.

“Fetching my wife,” he replied simply, stepping forward to open the passenger door for her.

Emery let out a small snort, half amused and half exasperated, before sliding into the seat. She settled herself in, pulling bthe /bseatbelt across her chest bas /bhe closed the door behind her.

Ever bsince /bthe incident with Samuel, Logan had been… different. More attentive, more amodating. Emery had asked him about it more than once, but he always brushed it off with some line about how it was simply because she was his wife.

The answer sounded ridiculous to her ears–cringey even–but if she was being honest with herself, she didn’t mind. She actually liked the attention, even if she refused to admit it out loud.

As Logan slid into the seat beside her and the car eased out of the parking lot, she nced at him. “Don’t you have ba /bpany to run?” she asked, arching a brow.

Logan slid into the driver’s bseat/b, started the car, and pulled out of the lot. A faint smirk tugged at his mouth. “It can wait.”

Emery arched a brow. “It can wait? Since when does yourpany wait?”

“Since my wife came first,” he said smoothly, eyes still on the road.

She shook her head at that, trying not to let the corner of her lips twitch. “Fine. Then where exactly are we going?”

    “I–thought I’d bring you somewhere belse/bb./bb” /b

    “Somewhere else?”

“Yes.” He gave her a quick nce. “Your father’s condition, everything you’ve been dealing with, it’s been weighing on you. I thought maybe it’s time you felt a little better.”

Emery didn’t respond. She turned her head toward the window instead. He wasn’t wrong. Her father’s ident, the uncertainty of whether he would ever wake up, and the discovery of the secret he had been hiding, it all pressed on her like a heavy stone.

‘Did you find anything new?” she asked quietly.

Logan’s expression sobered. He shook his head. “Whoever erased your mother’s identity knew what they were doing. They covered their tracks too well.”

Emery nodded. She had expected as much. Still, the answer left a hollow ache in her chest.

Without warning, Logan reached over and caught her hand. She blinked, startled, then looked at him.

‘Rx,” he said firmly. “Don’t think too much about it. Rest assured, we’re doing everything we can to find out the truth.”

    Emery nodded again.

Not long after, the car slowed and rolled into a secluded area, Logan parked, stepped out, and walked around to open the door for herb. /b

Emery got out and immediately noticed the shift in the air. The resort was tucked into the base of a forested hill, the kind of ce she wouldn’t have found on her own. Steam drifted up from natural pools scattered between rocks, rising into the cool

    air like mist.

Tall pines surrounded the ce, their branches swaying lightly, and the ground was dotted with smooth stones and bpatches /bof moss. The sound of trickling water carried on the breeze.

“This is… a hot spring?” she asked, surprised.

Logan nodded. “It’s getting colder. Hot springs are perfect for that.”

“That’s because you don’t know a few things about the supernatural world.” He winked iat /iher.

Her eyes widened as the realization clicked. “Wait. Don’t tell me… this ce isn’t open to the public?”

    Logan’s smirk deepened.

Emery’s voice dropped, hesitant. “Is this… exclusive? Only for supernaturals?b” /b
