The Runaway Huntress
Chapter 148 - 147
CHAPTER 148: CHAPTER 147
Chapter 147
When Nesa finished, he had his eyes closed as he pinched the bridge of his nose between his eyes. So much was going on at the same time. Aside from Melisca, he had to secure Prince Zavien’s life that was currently on the brink.
He put down his phone and told the driver to drive faster. He made a few phone calls for assistance with other wolves. He couldn’t trust the Wildcrest Pack that was the nearest from the neighboring city. So, he called Gandolf to come to Dhasma instead. After a few minutes, they finally arrived to where Nesa was.
He didn’t want to make conclusions yet but he was thinking that maybe it was also Candor who was giving information to the Supernatural Hunters, the human organization that hunted people like them to kill, to experiment and whatever the hell they wanted to do to them.
After a few minutes, they finally arrived in their destination. It was a residential apartment. It was where one of the Crimson Pack’s deployed team was staying in search of their latest lead that that the hunters had their main operation in the country in Dhasma City. He ordered for his people to halt the search until they had the cure in their hands. But they stayed around, vigilant of anymore killings and kidnapping of his people.
Wolves greeted him at the entrance when he stepped out. He acknowledged their courtesy by nodding back. Though he was a king for his people, but he doesn’t want to get respect just by out of their fear. He was raised better than that. Growing up with the vampires, they were known for their graceful courtesies and proper manners. So, despite staying with the wolves for more than a century already, he still had his princely conduct from the Blood Court.
When they got inside, he already expected the people that he was about to meet. Along with the bonus someone that came on them.
"Let go of me!" The white-haired woman was tied down on a chair at one corner of the room. Just as he ordered. She could be in use for them in the near future.
"Alpha King." They all bowed their heads for respect and submission in front of their king.
They gathered in a living room with complete set of sofas for lounging around. There was even a fireplace across the seats and a TV set above it.
"Wolf King, why are you doing this to me?" Tyla asked loudly to get his attention because from the moment he entered, he only glanced at her once. Like she didn’t matter and was just an extra trouble that he wanted to keep down before anything happens.
Ezekiel turned to the tied woman. Nesa’s report at him played again on his mind as how the woman berated Melisca. He stalked to her direction as the green in his eyes was trying to restrain the red from coming out. He was restraining himself too. His fists clenched and unclenched. He wanted to kill her. But he shouldn’t.
He stopped in front of her as her head tilted up to look at him. His head was bowed down and instantly, he hovered above her as he wrapped his one hand on her throat.
Tyla’s eyes widened. She knew that the wolves hated witches, but she knew she didn’t deserve to die by his hand. She didn’t do anything to harm them, instead, she sacrificed her whole being to resurrect one of them. She shouldn’t be treated this way.
She felt fear under her skin as she met his gaze. His eyes were still trying to decide whether to stay green or turn red. His grip to her throat was just enough for little air to breathe.
Zek stared at the woman. It was his first time to see a witch that lost her immortality. So, their hair would turn white then. He knew it wasn’t her hair color before.
"Who are you to say that my mate shouldn’t have been born?" His voice was too low, but too dangerous. The calmness in it sent chills to her body.
Her eyes bulged as the room grew quieter. A pin drop could have been heard. Everyone who heard it got their breaths caught in their throats. Even Nesa that was standing behind the sofa and all his men around.
Then everyone exchanged looks with each other behind Zek. Nesa looked at her brother, who was one of the pack warriors. He shook his head and shrugged his shoulders, indicating that he had no idea, as well as everyone else. Not even Drasco who seemed to always escort their king.
Tyla hadn’t seen it coming. It wasn’t included in her vision when she still had the Talent so it was a shock for her. Melisca was a hybrid human-wolf and the wolf king was a vamp-wolf. What an undeniably powerful couple they were. And just as destructive like the Grim War.
Then, when she thought about it, she couldn’t help but smile. It was a death wish as of the moment. But she couldn’t restrain her lips from quirking up. Of course. It was because of the Grim War. The same couple back then. The first human hybrid and the wolf king.
Zek knew what was on her mind. And he already anticipated what would be everyone’s thought about them. But, hell if he cared about it.
He withdrew his hand from his throat hastily as he slightly pushed her back. He had no time for this shit. He would take care of this woman later. He already wasted precious time as night was settling in. He stood up and whipped his body around. He glared at everyone who dared to open their mouths from the reaction he saw on their faces.
"Show me the prince." He demanded.
"T-this way, Alpha King." Nesa’s voice trembled as she answered and lead him to a room.
Gunther and Drasco followed behind him as well. As long as they never got their king’s order to leave his side, they wouldn’t do so. That’s the protocol they learned from their General Gandolf.
What he saw in the room alerted him. A red-haired woman was on a couch. Her eyes were open. She had pointy ears but she doesn’t feel normal to him. She felt... human. If she didn’t have the ears of an elf or a faerie he would have thought her a mortal. But her hair wasn’t of either race.
Carmen sat up. Her lips opened as she gawked at the new male who entered the room. He totally exuded a dominant aura. Her jaw was even chattering from the suffocating atmosphere. His aura was as black as his hair, if only smoke could be his shadow, it would have surrounded him. She felt a little dizzy as she looked at him. He was bastardly handsome and dangerous at the same time. She knew right then that she should never be in this man’s bad side.
"You’re a hybrid." He uttered. If Nesa hadn’t told her that she was a faerie, he would have wondered what her other half was.
Carmen’s heart seemed to stop. It wasn’t a question. It was a statement.
Zek found it interesting. He didn’t know enough about faeries having a hybrid and how they associate themselves with humans because they had their own realm, own world.
He felt an earthly aura from her. An aura he felt when there was an elf around. She was a faerie but there was an earthy presence in her too. Her red hair had white streaks on them. Zek turned his head to the sleeping prince on the bed.
This wasn’t what he remembered when he met Prince Zavien once. His hair was now black and his radiance vanished. It was like his light was blacked-out. He moved to approach him but suddenly, the faerie blocked his path by her body.
"Don’t come near him." She didn’t know where she got the courage but it was an instinct to protect the man who supported them. Even sacrificed his essence to give her power to teleport them out from the hunters’ ground.
