The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship
Chapter 251 - 236: She Deserves to Be Bitten to Death
CHAPTER 251: CHAPTER 236: SHE DESERVES TO BE BITTEN TO DEATH
Qi Yexin stared at the confession letter without touching it, not knowing if he had read its contents. Suddenly, he raised his head and stared at Mu Shuoqian: "What does this mean?"
"It’s clearly written above, Old Mr. Qi shouldn’t be asking me," Mu Shuoqian lifted his wrist to check the time, "Unfortunately, I have another meeting. In three days, I hope Old Mr. Qi can hand this document over to me, of course, I hope it will be signed by then."
After Mu Shuoqian finished speaking, he stood up, his tall and straight figure instantly lowering the pressure in the office to its minimum. Qi Chuan had something to say, but the words were forced back by his imposing demeanor. It was Qi Chuan’s first time engaging so closely with the famously renowned Mu Shuoqian, who was exactly like the rumors described: cold, aloof, and unsociable.
It wasn’t until Mu Shuoqian and Xiao Ran left that Qi Chuan’s somewhat numb mouth regained sensation. He strode over to the desk, picked up the paper and started reading. By the end, his face had turned pale, incredulously asking Qi Yexin for confirmation: "Dad, is this true? Could Xiao Mi really do something like this? This... this is murder!?"
"Han Hao, get the car ready." Qi Yexin, with a dark face, walked out while instructing, "Bring Luan Yi back to me."
"Yes, Chairman." Han Hao hurriedly instructed the driver to wait downstairs, then called Luan Yi.
Luan Yi hadn’t been to work or returned home these past two days; instead, she had been staying at a friend’s place.
When the phone rang, she was sleeping on the sofa.
"Luan Yi, your phone." Her friend walked out of the bathroom and nudged her.
Luan Yi, still groggy, sat up and found her mobile phone amongst a mess of snacks and bottles on the coffee table. She glanced at the caller ID before answering.
"Miss, the chairman asks you to come home."
"I, I have something..." Luan Yi’s voice faltered immediately.
She wasn’t oblivious to the news. She quickly linked the Qi family’s crisis with her own actions. Although it wasn’t confirmed yet, the Qi family had been prospering smoothly over the years and it was unlikely to suddenly make such a huge blunder. Qi Yexin always preferred to have one more friend rather than an enemy, rarely causing grievances with others.
"Xiao Mi, get back here immediately, I want to see you in half an hour." The voice on the other end suddenly turned stern, then the call was ended abruptly.
Holding the disconnected phone, Luan Yi remained in a daze until her friend nudged her again: "Your family is calling you back, huh?"
It took Luan Yi a while to nod: "I have to go, my grandfather just returned from an out of town trip to an antique auction."
Others’ words she could ignore, but she didn’t dare defy Qi Yexin’s. After quickly packing up, Luan Yi left her friend’s house.
Outside, the sun was shining brightly, but her mood was incessantly gloomy.
As soon as Luan Yi got home, she sensed something was off in the atmosphere of the hall; apart from her, almost all the Qi family members were present.
She dawdled over, calling out softly: "Grandpa, Uncle, Aunt, Mom, Dad."
After calling everyone, she was about to sit opposite them when her dad suddenly shouted in a stern voice: "You dare to sit?"
His words frightened Luan Yi, causing her legs to stiffen, too scared to move. Her dad always treated her like the apple of his eye, never willing to scold or beat her. He must have been truly furious to lash out like that today.
Luan Yi’s eyes immediately reddened, looking at him with a touch of grievance.
Her father’s heart also ached at the sight, but he quickly turned his face away.
"Is this true?" Qi Yexin slammed a piece of paper on the coffee table in front of him.
Luan Yi hung her head and read the paper, first noticing the words "confession letter", which made her heart skip a beat. After reading the content, her complexion turned even paler, her hands tightly twisted together.
Qi Yexin shouted indignantly, "How could you be so malicious, to place a cobra in someone else’s dressing locker? Fortunately, the person bitten was not gravely harmed, but if there had been any mishap, you would be charged with premeditated murder."
"Grandpa, I... I didn’t," Luan Yi protested.
"Still denying it? Look how guilty you look; I guess you would confess everything if pressured a bit? Having received higher education, don’t you know this is illegal? How did our Qi family ever produce such a fool, cough cough..." Qi Yexin, so consumed by anger, started coughing. Qi Meihui, standing beside him, hurriedly helped him by rubbing his back.
"Dad, you can’t blame Xiao Mi entirely. Mu Shuoqian and Gu Qili have been excessively bullying. During the last training at Palm Island, they even threw Xiao Mi into the sea."
"Yes, that Mu Shuoqian, taking advantage of his status from the Mu Family, bullied our Xiao Mi like that. I’ve been wanting to confront him about it," Luan’s mother exclaimed indignantly, "And that Gu Qili, heard she has been causing trouble for Xiao Mi in the restaurant, even relegating Xiao Mi to the toughest job in the kitchen. Look at our Xiao Mi’s delicate hands, when has she ever washed dishes before."
"Just because of this, you have thoughts of murder?" Qi Yexin’s palm slammed heavily on the coffee table, his old face flushed with anger, "I don’t believe it. If Luan Yi didn’t do something outrageous to others, would a person like Mu Shuoqian have the time and energy to deal with a girl swindler like you?"
Luan Yi’s mother disagreed and said: "Dad, why do you only help outsiders? Luan Yi is your own granddaughter."
"Enough, I think she dared to do so, mostly because you, her mother, instigated it." Qi Yexin then turned to Qi Meihui, "Meihui, contact Mu Shuoqian, tell him that the Qi Family is willing to take Luan Yi to personally apologize to Miss Gu."
"Dad, how can you make Luan Yi apologize, I think Luan Yi did nothing wrong." Luan Yi’s mother immediately screamed, "Such a malicious woman, she should be bitten to death."
"Shut up, do you even know how much trouble your daughter has caused? If Mu Shuoqian were a bit more ruthless, our Qi Family could go bankrupt, it’s just an apology, it won’t cost you an arm or a leg, why can’t you utter that?"
"I, I won’t apologize." Luan Yi stubbornly looked at Qi Yexin and said, "I will not apologize to her, I would rather go to jail."
"Fine, then sign this confession, and wait for them to come arrest you, this way Mu Shuoqian won’t trouble us anymore." Qi Yexin threw the paper in front of her, his voice soared, causing Luan Yi’s eardrums to ache, "Sign it."
"If I must sign, then I sign." Luan Yi crouched in front of the coffee table, grabbed the pen beside her, and was about to write her name underneath, she was never afraid to admit that she did it, each person bears their own consequences, at worst...
The pen tip just lightly touched the paper, a small blot of blue ink spread, she suddenly thought of a movie she had once seen.
The novel she wanted to write hadn’t yet been started, how could she go to jail.
Qi Yexin could see her hesitation and immediately said in a gentle voice: "Luan Yi, the Qi Family was built by your grandfather with great effort, and you are also deeply loved by your grandfather, it’s just an apology, grandpa promises, you won’t be wronged again."
Luan Yi looked up at Qi Yexin, seemingly persuaded by his words, she put down the pen in her hand, nodded gently: "I’ll go then."
Qi Yexin said, "Meihui, contact Mu Shuoqian immediately."
When Mu Shuoqian came back, Gu Qili had already cleaned the inside and outside of the house, he didn’t like women stepping foot in his territory, even Xiao Mi was no exception, but Xiao Mi was her best friend, and she couldn’t just turn her away, the best method was to restore the house to its original state, so he couldn’t tell someone had been there.
Mu Shuoqian’s people hadn’t come back yet, but the takeout from Xiangshan Club had already arrived.
The two had dinner, and feeling bored at home, they went out to the yard to sit and enjoy the cooler air.
The evening in Aus City was still enveloped in a layer of heat, as the sun set in the west, the hot sensation gradually subsided.
Gu Qili went behind the flower bed to the woods and picked a bunch of wildflowers, originally wanting to find an empty bottle to put the flowers in, she searched around the house and finally found a shuttlecock.
"Mu Shuoqian, let’s play shuttlecock," she suggested.
He stood up from the outside chair, smiling unabashedly: "I’m quite good at this."
"I admit you’re very good at tennis and basketball, but I’m professional at playing shuttlecock," Gu Qili provocatively looked at him, "I might make you cry later, but I won’t be responsible."
"Is your hand okay?" He stared at her injured hand.
"Are you silly, you use feet not hands, I think you’re just scared."
Mu Shuoqian pulled out his cellphone from his pants pocket and placed it on the chair, his lips curling with a teasing smile: "Alright, make me cry then."
Once they began, Gu Qili realized that Mu Shuoqian couldn’t actually play shuttlecock at all, his previous confident demeanor had been an act.
However, his athletic talent was good, after being coached by her briefly he could play quite decently, but not before long he was gasping from exhaustion.
When Qi Yexin and his people hastily arrived, they saw Mu Shuoqian and Gu Qili playing shuttlecock in the open space in front of their home.
Mu Shuoqian was probably hot, wearing only a white short T-shirt, with a slight sweat at his temples
It was only when Gu Qili noticed those several people, her concentration slipped, and the shuttlecock fell to the ground.
"Well played." Dry applause came from the side, Qi Chuan smiled and said: "Young Master Qian not only manages the company well, but also plays shuttlecock impressively."
Mu Shuoqian glanced at him indifferently, walked to the middle to pick up the shuttlecock that had fallen on the ground, then under everyone’s gaze went back inside to fetch a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and instead of handing it to Gu Qili’s hand directly, he personally brought it to her lips.
