The Scrap Tamer
Chapter 194 194: Negation Meets Void [2]
Reid, in his monarch form, stood before them, calmly looking at the opponent before him.
This reaction of Reid's team, Damien and Elizabeth was one of shock and surprise, which was natural.
The merging between Reid's mother and her forged beast was unknown by barely anyone at this point. They knew that was how she became a mythic rank tamer and every platinum rank aimed to achieve this level.
Yet, right before them, a recently ranked up platinum rank tamer had achieved just that.
"Does that mean Reid's at Mythic rank now?" Damien asked no one in particular.
He thought the gap between them was wide, but now? Now there was no hope of him ever catching up.
Null also observed this new form with elevated interest interest. This mortal was revealing surprise after surprise.
"This form," Null started, a look of interest on his face, "it feels similar to ours but at the same time not."
Reid said nothing in response.
Usually, whenever he used his monarch form, he could feel exactly how many levels below him his opponent was but for Null?
Ethan felt nothing when it came to Null. There was no aura that showed their strength difference, nothing.
Hell, even his usual cocky attitude in his monarch forms was nowhere to be found. He was completely focused on the enemy before him.
"Come at me and let me s—" before Null could finish his words, Reid vanished from where he stood and was directly in front of him the next second.
With Reid's sword swinging at him, Null also disappeared, allowing the sword to cut nothing but air.
Null reappeared a distance with a small frown on his face. He looked up at Reid before sighing, "I guess this shard is not strong enough to erase a void material."
"Guess I'll also have to get a bit serious then," he continued, "fist fighting is not my strong suit but..."
Without finishing his words, he disappeared. Before Reid could react, Null was suddenly right in front of him with his feet aimed at Reid's head.
With little time to react, Reid switched his sword to a defensive position, blocking the kick aimed at him.
The impact travelled through the blade and to his hands before sending him skidding backwards.
"Damnit," he muttered as he felt his armored arms go numb from the attack.
If brawling wasn't Null's strong suit, then he dreaded seeing what he was actually good at.
Reid steadied his breathing, the numbness fading from his arms as void energy flowed through him.
Null was strong, he was on a completely different level from anyone he had previously faced, but he wasn't deterred.
On the contrary, Reid felt excited. He saw no way to win, yet, excitement flooded him.
He vanished again, space bending around him as though as he teleported from his location. A moment later, he was behind Null, blade swinging for his back.
Null's form seem to flicker and the next second, Reid's sword was between his fingers.
Both tried the same thing, erasing the other through that contact and the clash of energies sent both skidding backwards.
Not even taking a moment to regain their balance, the both disappeared and clashed at the center.
The shockwaves from their clash caused the entire arena to tremble.
Elizabeth, Reid's team and even Damien's eyes widened in shock. Even though most were at platinum rank, their eyes could only barely track the movements of the two.
The clash was way above something a platinum rank should be capable of and they honestly doubted if the barrier could hold up for much longer.
Ignorant to the shock and surprise of the on lookers, Reid focused on his clash with Malrath.
Everytime his blade met Null's attack, he could feel how close he was getting to being overwhelmed.
Null's face also held a smile as they fought. He had long confirmed that this mortal wasn't the same as the one who stood against his father, but fighting him was so entertaining that he wanted to see how far he could push him.
The arena floor had completely caved and the barrier that kept both the watchers and the fighters separate had sustained multiple cracks, seemingly about to fall apart.
Reid's sword lit up in purple flames as he swung it towards his opponent. This was a move that definitely shouldn't be used in a spar but both were having too much fun to care about holding back, besides, Reid knew that Null definitely had a way to counter this.
Well....he was wrong.
The moment Null's fist came in contact with the burning sword, the sword went right through, cutting the arm cleanly off.
Everyone froze in shock as the watch Null's severed hand burn. This was even more true for Elizabeth as she watched in utter disbelief.
She had fought Null before, and she had clearly seen how nothing she did worked but right before her eyes, a tamer that was barely at silver rank a couple of months ago had done what she wasn't able to.
Even Reid was a bit shocked at the outcome of that clash but Null, on the other hand, he just calmly looked at his severed arm and back to Reid.
"Interesting," he muttered, "void energy really is interesting."
His next actions surprised Reid. The cut arm that had been completely erased from time simply regrew itself again.
"You must be confused," Null said seeing the look of surprise on his face, "allow me to explain."
"Your void abilities allow you to completely erase anything from the stream of time," he started, "so all I had to do was nullify it before your abilities took effect, hence, why I can regenerate my arm."
Reid calmly listened, 'so the reason the erasure didn't work is because my it didn't take effect fast enough.'
[Right,] Evo confirmed, [ the path you use for moving void energy from your core to your blade isn't stable enough to handle that much void energy moving so fast.]
'I see,' he nodded in understanding before assuming a battle stance before saying to Null, "let's continue then, shall we?"
This was definitely against what their ref, Elizabeth, wanted. She was just about to stop the spar when Null replied,
"Of course," he said with a smile, "I want to see more of what you're capable of Reid."
