CHAPTER 32: HIS ANGER

Olivia’s POV.....

"Are you okay?" I whispered.

"Don’t pretend like you care."

"You are right, I don’t Aria." I breathed out and I stayed back, Luca wrapped his hand around me as we watched her, I didn’t want to see my goodbyes, there is no need for that.

It hurts me that they at getting buried at the cemetery where they buried my mother, it’s the closest and with the war going on, it’s the only place we can go to.

"She loved her mother, she may have been a monster to me, but she loved Aria too, she cared for her," I whispered, I can’t imagine how she must be feeling, I must be a monster, for not feeling like it, for not feeling this horrible and I wanted to, I desperately wanted to.

It felt like mom must be happy, happy that they are gone but Aria is alone.

By the time we were done, we headed back to the house, Luca and I settled in the dining room for a meal before he left for his compound.

Maybe the attack got us even closer to each other, maybe we just don’t know how to process all of this and I have a feeling Luca is a bit different since we walked into his childhood home, there are memories he didn’t want to dwell on.

"So how long do I have to be here?" Aria asked the moment she walked in.

"When the attack is over, you would be taken back to your home, you would be the sole owner to your parents’ home and anything they left for you."

"They left nothing for Olivia." She smiled, and I rolled my eyes at her, she is lucky I am forcing Luca to tolerate her.

"If you want o live here, if you want to survive, you are going to have to learn not to speak to Olivia the way you do, you are going to have to learn to the respectful to her," Luca spoke; without even sparing her a glance, I didn’t dare say a word, all I did was settle beside him.

Aria didn’t speak either, she just smiled. I didn’t have a good feeling with her being her, I know she wants Luca, and Luca is not mine to begin with and all I have done is try and stay away from him, all I have done is try and pretend like he means nothing to me.

Now I can’t do that, I made him a promise and he could have liked to me about Conrad but he didn’t, he told me the truth no matter how badly I felt.

——

"I don’t have a good feeling leaving you with her," Luca said.

"What can she do, it’s just for a couple of weeks, she lost her mom Luca, and her father too, she can stay for a while." I breathed out, I had to do that for her.

Luca glanced at me for a second, how did we even get here, how did we even get to have this conversation, it felt like he was nor controlling anymore, but compassionate.

His childhood home affected him that much, I stared at him for a second when he leaned and I pulled away.

"We can’t keep doing that," I whispered against my breath when I closed my eyes for a second.

"What was the deal?" Luca asked, I didn’t open my eyes, my heart skipped a beat for a second, when my eyes met his, it felt like I could be thinking about it too, I wanted his lips on mine, I didn’t say the words when I leaned in and I placed my lips on his.

I need to remember Luca is not like Conrad, he is not going to hurt me, he is not going to lie to me like Conrad does; he has a lot of things he has not said to me, things that he has not explained and he will, I will make sure of that.

As he stared at me, he mumbled a few words to me before he walked away.

Being home alone with Aria, I had to avoid her at all times, her room is downstairs while ours is here, I found myself walking through the hallways, when I saw a room, the only room that has a black door.

I could feel my wolf begging me not to open it yet I did, my hand shook for a second when I turned the doorknob knob and I walked into the room, my heart skipped a beat for a single second when I headed into the room.

A whiff of dust filled my nostrils, it’s a family room.

"Luca." I breathed out when I saw his picture, it was painted, and beside him are his parents, he looked a lot like his father and his hair is exactly like his mom’s, I walked further in until my eyes met another portrait and my breath hitches.

There is a little boy, who could not have been up to six or seven and he stood beside Luca’s parents, he didn’t have a smile, he looked like he wanted to get it over it.

I reached toward the frame when I saw a picture lying on the ground, Luca standing beside the boy, they looked alike, no one mentioned Luca ever having a little brother.

He was always known as the only child from the moment he was born and no one even said a single word about his Parents having another kid and many thought it was a good idea because many kids would mean fighting for the throne.

Luca looked excited because the boy I think is his brother and the boy has the same smile on his face, they looked like best friends, his eyes glimmered with hope.

Luca didn’t look like the way he did, his eyes were not lifeless like he had lost everything and everyone, he was happy here, my fingers danced against the picture and I had a smile on my face when I saw the other ones.

The dust filled my eyes for a second when a cough escaped my lips, it was all worth it because I wanted to see, I wanted to know how he was before I met him, before he came the great Alpha I have always heard about

There are many portraits of him and his family but none with this boy. It was only that one single one that I found, why didn’t they take more photos with him, what happened to him?

I had a few questions but after a while, I headed out of the room and I kept that one little picture with me, maybe Luca would not want to see it, I headed out after making sure to close the door from behind properly before I walked into the room and placed the picture on the nightstand.

——-

After a long shower, I needed to wash off all of the dust that had fallen upon me, and I changed into some comfortable clothes. I walked into the room to find Luca holding the picture.

"I- where did you find this?" Luca asked cutting me off; he didn’t look or sound happy. He turned to look at me with a frown on his face, his eyes filled with an unfamiliar emotion.

"How did it even get into this room, Olivia?" Luca asked, but he didn’t look happy. I had thought he would be glad to see something like this to know that I found it but he was not, his eyes wanted to yell at me. He wanted to rip the picture in half.

I stared at him with a frown on my face.

"Luca I found- is one care where you found it, what did I say about snooping around, this is why my guards don’t trust you, you meddle in things that don’t matter to you." He yelled cutting me off, my eyes filled with tears as I stared at him.

"I just thought you would want to see it."

"There is a reason everything is not out in the open and you need to learn to stop looking for things, what if this fell into the wrong hands, it doesn’t matter to you. What matters to you is that you find out everything that is going on even if it hurts someone." He yelled, and I jolted in my position as I stared at him

"I’m sorry." I breathed out. "I didn’t know that-" I was about saying when I kept quite, I didn’t think it would affect him, I didn’t mean to hurt him.

"I don’t want to hear you, just leave Olivia, before I say something I will regret, before I say something I can’t recover from." He yelled again and I nodded.

He didn’t look at me when my eyes filled with tears, so I inched closer to him.

"Leave," Luca yelled.
