CHAPTER 72: HIS BEST FRIEND

Olivia’s POV.....

"Do you think she is his daughter?" I asked.

"I doubt that, on her certificate, she seems a bit older and when I was fifteen he didn’t have any kids, his wife, had a bit of trouble with that and he seemed okay with it, Natalie can’t be his daughter, maybe someone he met along the line."

"Lover," I whispered as my face twisted, she is half his age, it seemed wrong even thinking about something like that, I glanced at Luca as he had the same look of disgust on his face just like I did, even thinking about it seemed hard and annoying.

"How about Sebastien, how does he fall into all of this?" I whispered.

"When uncle was banished, I knew he left the city, but for two months, I know where he was, he kept making little troubles for me, because he wanted to prove his point but then after two month he stopped, I kept an eye on him for another month then I got buried with work, I didn’t seem to care any more and with time I forgot about him, I think someone helped him, he didn’t have any money when he left."

"You think Sebastine’s father helped him."

"Someone did and when he was with my father, he had his friends, he made his own associates and connections and he didn’t bother about anyone else, I would not be surprised if his father was one of them, he may be a horrible uncle but he always knows how to keep people with him how to have them by his side," Luca explained.

That can’t be good, even at this, we have no idea who Natalie is.

"Can we retrace his steps, maybe figure out how he ended up in the town or worse he has been somewhere else all this while and you didn’t know then he came to the town when he found out about me."

"He won’t come, he would not just want you to see him for no reason, he did it because he wanted you to run to me, he wants me to fail, and grandma is not here to stop him either, he wants the throne and without you, I would have no heir, and even you being with me is a danger because he wants you to never have a kid and if I die, or even get sick, unable to handle my affairs, he would be the one to take care of every single thing." He explained.

"What if he doesn’t want me dead, it didn’t look like they did, they wanted me on their side, like Natalie, all she did was want me not to talk about you, not to even say a good word and I guess she wanted me to fall for Sebastien." I breathed out.

Why would she want that, she can pretend to be good or be nice so she will get what she wants, so she can control me but why would she want me to be with Sebastien, why find someone else Lee for me, I am not sure that she cared for me that much.

"The uncle I know, he would burn you and the world to get to what he wants; he would not care for you to find someone else or to the happy, unless he made some type of twisted deal with Sebastien and his father, he has been gone for years, if he is out here now, it’s only because he is strong now, he has an idea of what he is doing and he will not come out of hiding, come after you unless he has strength."

"They are nothing compared to you Luca."

"They are if they will come directly to you, he knows I will do anything to protect you just like father did all he could for my mother; he loved her for all she had done for him." He whispered and I nodded.

He still hated to talk about them, I did understand, I didn’t speak about my father, to me he is dead and it’s nothing more than that.

Luca and I spoke about it, the more we talked about his uncle, Natalie, and Sebastien, the more twisted our minds would be, we had no idea what was going on, even if we tried, we couldn’t place our finger on exactly what he was planning.

After a while, a knock on the door pulled us out of our thoughts, Ares walked in with a maid beside him who placed a tray of food ok the table.

I glanced around the place to avoid his eyes, no matter what he is thinking, right now we have bigger problems, and no matter what he says or what he does, this has nothing to do with me, this is a feud that has existed for years even before Luca realized he would find someone like me.

"What’s wrong Luca?" Ares asked and Luca turned to look at him and the woman instantly walked away

"Patrick is back," Luca whispered and this time my eyes met his, I wanted to yell I told you it didn’t have anything to do with me yet I didn’t, I wanted to tell You should have listened to me yet I didn’t. I didn’t speak.

"What do you mean, he can’t be; he has been gone for years."

"He left for a reason; to become stronger; he always wanted this, he hated my father for taking his place and now he hates me for doing the same, a man like him never forgets Ares; he would always come back to collect his debt and only this time, he waited for so long and he is not alone."

"What do you think he is going to do?" Ares asked, "He wants Olivia." He asked, Is he about to suggest he hands me her to him, or end this and make peace?

"No he wants me, he wants the throne but he wants to make me suffer."

"I would not underestimate the man who has waited for years, he didn’t come back to play games, if he is back, it’s because he is aware of the fact that he is going to get everything that he wants and not only that, he is sure of the fact that he can take all that you have," Ares explained.

I glanced at Luca, I know that Ares is right about this.

"What do you think?" I whispered so low yet I knew that he heard me. "What do you think Luca should do?." I asked again.

He glanced at me, he can’t ignore me now that Luca is here and no matter what hat he thinks, I didn’t start any of this, it started before I came into his life, and his uncle could still be back and it’s not going to be my fault.

"Answer her Ares, what do you think that he is going to do about it. And not only that, I need to know what Natalie is going to do. I want to know what you think is going to happen." Luca asked.

He had some thoughts and we need to hear them, maybe that all we need to make sure we can find out what exactly is happening, because maybe his thoughts would be able to help us.

"I think that he is working with this Natalie person, maybe he groomed her all these years so she will listen to him and do what he wants, I don’t think he is in a romantic relationship with her because I know your uncle and based on what I have heard all about him, I know that he has no desire for love, she means nothing to him maybe to her she is everything to him but him, he doesn’t even care about his ex wife, not because she left him, even before she did; he made her fall for him, marry him and what happened next, he disgraced her after he got what he wanted," Ares explained.

"Are you saying that he is using her?." I asked and he nodded.

"And for Sebastien, what I don’t like is that he is offering him something in return, I don’t think a mere friendship would lead them to want to stand with him in a war. He has nothing and no one unless with time he created his own pack, I have a feeling he has several people that are standing by him and right now all he wants to do is take over you, what I think is that your uncle is using everyone here; he knows that he can get what he wants and when he does he would have them dead, believe he he does not like to share."

"You seem to know a lot about him." I breathed out, probably more than Luca and he is related to Luca.

"He was my father’s best friend before he was banished. I saw him in my house more than Luca did and I listened in to some of their conversations." He said and I nodded.
