CHAPTER 76: I WISH IT WAS THAT EASY

I stood by the end of the room and Luca was asleep, there was a man heading toward him, it felt like I was a ghost because the man could not see me, he could not feel me, and no matter how much I yelled or tried to touch Luca. It didn’t work, he didn’t move.

My eyes filled with tears when the man inched closer to him.

"Luca wake up please, this is not you, you don’t sleep like this, you can not keep sleeping like that Luca. He is going to hurt you if you don’t wake up Luca." I yelled and more tears streamed down my cheek, he glanced at me with horror written all over his eyes, the man, like he could see me.

He turned to me this time and before I could flee out of the room, his hand made contact with my neck, softly wrapping around it, my eyes filled with more tears as I glanced at him, choking on whatever was left of the air.

"Luca," I yelled, but he didn’t wake up, he could not hear me no matter what I said, no matter how I cried and begged, he didn’t even move not an inch

"Olivia." I heard a voice, my eyes filled with tears when I woke up and he wrapped his hand around me pulling me closer to him, his scent calming and welcoming, alluring me to calm down even more and he pulled away for a second to wipe the tears that fell against my cheek.

"What’s wrong Olivia? What did you dream about?" He asked, more tears streamed down my cheek, it’s just a bad dream, I should have known that Luca would never do this to me, he could never sleep while I am getting hurt, while I waited for him to wake up and begged him to.

"Nothing, just hold me." I breathed out and he leaned in to place a kiss on my forehead before he wrapped his hand even tighter, I didn’t want to recall any part of it again, I knew Luca would want to know.

He wouldn’t ask now because of what I felt, what I am going through and I guess I did understand that.

As he lay beside me back on the bed, I could not shake off the feeling that something wrong was going to happen. Something wrong has already happened and we are yet to find out, I could not stop thinking about it, though his scent calmed me down, it made me feel a bit better.

I closed my eyes for a second when Luca started to rub my back softly with his hand, leading me to the darkness I yearned to leave.

The next morning, the feeling was still there and so was Luca, he never let me leave his side, he wanted me to take a shower with him, he made us breakfast, and respected the fact that I am still not ready to talk about it.

I never was, I don’t think I would ever be, it’s a bad dream that will never come true.

"Where is Ares?" I finally asked while we were in the living room.

"Taking care of a few things for me, Patrick would want me to leave you so I can handle him yet I won’t, he wants an investigation Olivia and I promise he will get what he wants, and I know this investigation is just a way for him to distract me so he can do whatever he wants."

"I think I know his disadvantage," I explained, it’s easy I know, I know even a fool can see that. "He still thinks you are that little boy he watched grow to take his throne and he still thinks you are nothing like your father because of me, your father cared for your mom and he loved her, but I have a feeling he loved the pack more."

"If he has to choose one, he would choose the pack because that’s his first family and mom can’t protect him from wars." He said and a chuckle escaped my lips bitterly.

"While you can leave them for me." I breathed out, I pulled out my phone and I glanced at Natalie’s number, I said I would do it, and what better time to do it but now?

"You don’t, I need to Luca, or he is going to figure out that we know that she is a part of his big plan. Maybe through this I can get her driver’s license or rather I can get to find out what exactly she is hiding from us." I explained when he placed his hand on mine.

I had thought he would stop me from calling her yet he didn’t, instead, he tapped on the number himself.

It rang for a little while before I heard her voice, still annoying and I can’t believe she stayed with me in an apartment that is meant to be our home just to betray me and pretend to like me.

"Liv are you going to say something, I can hear you breathe."

"I know, just a little nervous, I left without saying much and it didn’t feel right to remain upset at you for what Sebastine did, I should have stopped him when I didn’t like it, and not force you not to have your fun and to stay with me and babysit me," I explained.

Well, she should have done that and she didn’t. She wanted him to keep making me uncomfortable knowing fully well that I can’t leave without her and even if I tried I would not.

"Still mad?" She asked and a chuckle escaped my lips.

"At him yes, at you don’t think so, I am not going to be mad at you, not anymore because it’s not your fault he is an idiot and I should have left in a better note."

"So where are you?" She asked and I rolled my eyes, as if she didn’t know about that, he told her.

"The city." I resorted.

"You left without letting me know, I am not Sebastine, you can be mad at him all you want but not at me." She said and I rolled my eyes again as if she could see me.

Luca didn’t even want to be a part of any of this, I could tell he was bored and uninterested with what she was saying, it amazed me how good she could pretend, how good she is at playing the good person card.

"Olivia, are you still there?"

"Yes, sorry, I was thinking of an apology for you. I should have told you, it’s not your fault Sebastine is such an asshole, it’s not your fault he was mean to me and treated me like a show dog and I should have been better."

"I should have been better too, you know I am coming to the city quite soon and maybe we can have dinner at your place, I have been dying to see it, and of course I owe Luca an apology, it seemed like he is better than I expected." She spoke.

"He definitely is." I smiled, we talked for a while and she told me she will be here by Saturday and I invited her to come for dinner, I think that way we can get to find what we what and I know it she is going, she will be here for an ulterior motive, it didn’t matter because as long as we got what we wanted.

The call ended soon and I rested on Luca.

"She is in the city," Luca stated and I turned to look at him hoping he was joking but he was not, his face didn’t seem like it.

"What?"

"Yes she is, she is making it seem like she would be here for some work or something but she is here, she is with him and I am sure when you called he told her what she had to say, she always took a few seconds before she spoke that because of him." He explained.

If it’s up to me I would never have realized that, she is great at pretending to be sweet and nice and I believed her when she said she would be coming soon.

"I think he didn’t come alone, she came with him, and not one that, that Sebastine also knows that we are here, the three of them, they are fully aware, it would not be long until you hear her talk about how he said he will be here for some business meeting. And she will make it look like he was never going to come until now." Be explained.

"What do we do?"

"We watch and we wait, we wait to figure out what’s happening and then when we do, we make sure that they would never hurt us again." He said and I nodded.

I wish it were that easy.
