CHAPTER 54: THE FAREWELL

The sun rose with a golden hue that bathed the Academy in a gentle warmth. It wasn’t just any day—it was the last.

For the first time in over a decade, the campus of Dawn Academy was utterly still. No bells rang, no sparring matches echoed, no elemental blasts roared from the domes.

Instead, there was music.

Soft orchestral tones resonated from enchanted crystal speakers across the grounds. A melodic blend of harps and flutes carried through the air, guiding everyone toward the Grand Amphitheatre.

Today was Graduation Day.

Thirteen years.

And today, the first batch of novices of the academy to graduate had come.

This batch had conquered over 10000 gold-rank dungeons. In a span of 3 years.

Countless exams, battles, lectures, injuries, detentions, pranks, and victories.

The time had finally come.

At The Grand Gathering.

The amphitheatre, normally reserved for special ceremonies and public duels, was transformed.

Glowing mana-lanterns floated above the seating, casting hues of blue and gold over the marble stands.

Instructors, staff, and students filled every row. White banners hung from the upper galleries, emblazoned with the academy’s insignia: a rising star over an open book.

Even the Head Dean, rarely seen outside of private meetings, was present, seated beside Tashi, Vasra, and Elfalene at the elevated instructor’s dais.

The graduating students—all 1027 of them—were seated in the front rows. Among them sat:

Kaelen Maglor, back straight, hands folded, black eyes observing everything.

Jered Dallas, slouching slightly, but with a rare seriousness on his face.

Neal Throdan, arms crossed, looking ahead without emotion.

Alira Mor, white hair tied neatly, daggers strapped to her thighs even in formal wear.

Sasha Taras, wearing a modest yet elegant robe stitched with vines and tiny spirit-bells clinking softly.

The Juggernauts—once misfits and oddballs, now legends in the making.

The crowd fell silent as the Head Dean rose.

A tall man, white-robed and serene, with a voice that carried both power and kindness.

He began his speech.

"Thirteen years ago, each of you stood on this ground as children. Some born nobles, some orphaned by war, others chosen by fate or talent or sheer stubbornness. You arrived as students, novices—hopeful.and unprepared.

And today... you leave as Awakened, Veterans, Leaders of humanity.

You’ve conquered monsters, defied expectations, survived storms both outside and within.

But what I hope you carry most isn’t your strength—it’s the bonds you made here. Your rivals, your mentors, your friends. That, more than power, will be what shapes the world beyond these gates.

This Academy has no walls. It has no borders. It only has

legacy.

And yours, each of you, is eternal."

A pause followed.

A heavy silence, not from boredom—but reverence.

He turned slightly, eyes falling directly on Kaelen and his team.

"To the Juggernauts.

Who cleared the most gold ranked dungeons since the academy was ever created. A whopping sum of 3405 gold rank dungeons in a span of just 3 years.

You were reckless, unorthodox, and infuriating.

But you reminded us what genius forged in chaos looks like."

A ripple of chuckles followed from the instructor’s side. Tashi smirked. Vasra gave a tight nod. Elfalene rolled her eyes—but even she was smiling.

After the speech, the music rose. Tables of food and drink shimmered into view along the terraces. Spirits were high.

Graduates hugged and wept. Even hardened duelists broke down laughing with their old teammates. For many, this was the first time in over a decade they felt human again.

Kaelen stood silently, watching it all. A glass in hand, untouched.

"I didn’t think I’d miss this place," he muttered.

"Who said you had to?" Jered said beside him, clinking their glasses.

"...You’re not crying, are you?" Neal asked, joining them with a faint grin.

Kaelen scoffed. "I’m weeping on the inside."

"Like a real man," Jered nodded in agreement.

Behind them, Sasha was being swarmed by underclassmen asking for autographs from the "Verdant Queen."

Alira stood at the edge of the crowd, arms folded, half-annoyed but faintly smiling as the younger assassins called her "Dagger Saint."

The juniors wanted to talk to the guys from the Juggernaut as well but the grin from Jered and Kaelen scared them away.

Kaelen now had long silky black hair with sharp features and it seems that his black pupils only deepened with his growth in power.

Later that evening, the Juggernauts found themselves gathered alone on the hill behind the eastern forest where it had all begun.

The forest was especially quiet that night.

Kaelen lay on the grass, arms behind his head.

"Remember our first fight with the monsters?" Kaelen asked, staring into the sky.

"Of course, how could I ever forget your beaten up face that day?" Jered chimed.

"Yeah, says the one who almost lost all his limbs," Kaelen replied.

They both chuckled remembering the pass.

Sasha chimed in "it’s not fair, share your stories with us."

"Nah it’s a long story," Both Jered and Kaelen refused to talk about their defeat that day.

"What will you guys do after you return home?" Alira added dryly.

"Of course save the world," Jered declared without any hesitation. His mind wandered into the battlefield where the sacred order of knights charging into the enemy’s frontline.

"I’m going to become an adventurer. I don’t really like to be bound by rules," Kaelen replied grinning from ear to ear, lost in his own thoughts but determined.

"I as well thought of becoming a knight but because of the war I will become an adventurer." Neal muttered his eyes closed and emotions unknown.

Sasha, sitting between them, giggled. "What about you Alira?"

Alira just said one word "Kaelen" then gave a nod.

Sasha gave Kaelen a meaningful eye but did not say a word.

Kaelen nodded slowly. "Yeah... she’s coming with me. She can’t do anything alone with her communication skills."

"Wait what about you Sasha you haven’t told us about yourself," Jered asked expecting some answers.

But she just smiled.

"Secret."

"Ah come on.."

A pause.

Then the five of them leaned back, looking up at the stars.

The sky was especially clearer that day and the stars especially brighter.

No more exams. No more dorms. And absolutely no more waiting.
