CHAPTER 254: OUR STORY

Magus Sylrissa laughed. "Why would you do that when he’s already awake? Come, let’s see him together."

But Amros’s voice still remained the same. "I’ll check up on him and get back to you. I will see if he wants to see you, Magus Sylrissa."

This time the Magus didn’t say anything, and the door to the room opened as Amros entered. Captain Amros went to his knees. "My lord, you are awake."

Vacuse was already sitting up, and he smiled in amusement when he saw him do that. "Now why are you doing this? I don’t remember people kneeling for me that much, but two of you have already done it tonight."

Amros kept silent for a while and simply watched him, then he shook his head. "It is good to have you back among us, my lord."

Vacuse couldn’t disagree with that. "It is good to be back."

He stood up and did a little bow. "My lord, Magus Sylrissa, the fifth circle Magus here, wants to see you."

Vacuse raised his brow. "Does she now? Tell her she will have to wait a while. On that same note, call Kagerou and Harkon here. I want to hear the situation of things with you."

Captain Amros saluted and turned away. Soon, the loud, almost threatening voice of Magus Sylrissa came from outside. "He’s going to see me later? You can’t change his mind. What, he’s the leader now? Alright. I need to get myself patched up anyway."

The sound of their footsteps slowly disappeared, and before long another set came forward. Then his core attendants entered the room.

Kagerou, Harkon, and Amros.

Vacuse smiled wide when he saw them. "Come on then, tell me how we got here!"

And they did.

Surprisingly, their stories weren’t as wild as Vacuse’s. They appeared directly inside the mountains; it was where the Great Dungeon dropped them, all nine of them.

Together with Eloryna Stormhaven. They were all dropped together into the mountains, but she led her team outside shortly after.

But the Dragon team couldn’t move, as it didn’t take long for them to realize that Vacuse was missing. At first, they thought he would be nearby and they would find him easily, but they were so wrong. No matter how they tried, they could not find him.

The first thing they did was go outside the mountain to search the surrounding cities, and they were nearly drawn into the war. But after their search came out null, they sat down to try another approach.

They decided to draw him toward them just as hard as they were searching for him. So they created the Dragon Hunters and returned back into the mountains to gather forces and resources to expand and spread their name.

It was through this act that they found out about the group that was looking for the dragon and someone with red eyes.

Although the story they told seemed straightforward, when they told it, it was long, and it took time as they went through all the details, with the three of them taking turns explaining different parts.

Of the nine of them, two of the third stages were already dead, leaving only eight overall from the Vorrakyn team left standing.

"The hunting team that we created, the Dragon Hunters, can boast of one hundred and twenty-five members of both fighting and non-fighting members," Captain Amros finished.

Vacuse was silent for a while, and then he sighed and shared his own story of what passed in the past few months. He didn’t know why the Great Dungeon left him in Eboncrypt, but it did, and it nearly killed him.

His team stared in shock as they listened to him. It was as if they thought he had only been fighting carefree across the lands all this while or plotting something sinister. And it wasn’t even something they would put past him.

But overall, they were glad to meet him again and vowed to end any Eboncrypt they set their sights on.

"My lord, do you want to disband the Dragon Hunters?" Captain Amros asked.

"Why should we? We will keep operating it," Vacuse said. "Why waste such a strong group when we will still face lots of struggles in the future?"

Kagerou nodded and then pointed out, "Keeping such a force is expensive, my lord. Although there’s lots of hunting here to be had, it’s different out there unless we hunt Dungeons and such in the Dark Wilderness."

Vacuse smiled. "And who says we can’t? We have a fifth circle Magus with us, after all."

Magus Sylrissa had found them when they were still outside the mountains and began spreading the name of Dragon Hunters. She told them that she was interested in dragons and would give them her support for a while.

Although they didn’t trust her fully, the background check they did on her revealed that she truly liked to study and research anything she deemed rare and strange.

"We’ll keep the Dragon Hunters, and if it turns out that we can’t maintain it, then I’ll disband it. But I need to head to Umbracrypt and break this binding. Then we’ll see about ending the Great Dungeon. What do you think?"

"It is a good plan, my lord."

"We will do as you command, Dragon Heir."

"Not bad, Vacuse."

Vacuse smiled as he looked at Kagerou and then Harkon. "So you’ve finally reached second stage, eh? Good for you, and it’s about time too. Now you can hold your own where I fight."

But for some reason, the two of them did not seem thrilled to hear that.

Kagerou grimaced. "Vacuse, didn’t you kill three third circle Magus without even engaging them yourself? How then can we hold our own in places you fight?"

Vacuse blinked. "Well, it’s not like I can personally fight three third circle Magus myself. That’s my void creature, Sivan. Think of him like an undead but not in the same sense.

"But don’t worry. I’m sure you’ve all not been lazy while I was away. It’s not only the strength of Soulbearers that’s their sole strength. Artifacts. Enchantments. Constructs..."
