CHAPTER 259: LIGHT MAGUS

"I’ve never seen Arch this serious before unless we’re hunting truly dangerous monsters. He’s really going to go all out against that kid?"

"Don’t tell me he’s going serious against him?"

"Don’t be stupid! Don’t you see the way that kid punched him? He’s a second circle and yet see what he did! How many of you can do the same thing? I tell you, that kid isn’t simple!"

"Maybe I really shouldn’t have put all my bet against him!"

"Ahahah! You’re fools if you actually think a third circle like Magus Arch would actually be defeated by that thing! Just sit back and watch!"

Inside the training ground, Vacuse couldn’t hear all of this, and if he had, he would have ignored it as he had bigger things to fry. Literally!

Five swords, each as tall as seven of his own length, hovered above him, glittering in the air like stars of destruction. The pressure they carried bore down on him like falling mountains, and the attack hadn’t even been used!

"Do you still want to continue?" Magus Arch asked from the other side, his face flashing with fury.

Vacuse smirked easily and shrugged. "Why should I care? The question is, do you think your attack can defeat me?"

Magus Arch blinked and then his face turned even more thunderous. "I see!"

He didn’t hesitate anymore as he brought his hand down. The five massive swords hummed in the air as they came crashing down, the very ground cracking and trembling before the power of the swords as they flashed down like lightning.

"Let’s see the arrogance in you after this!" Magus Arch shouted. "Even that umbrella can’t save you this time!"

Indeed, Vacuse did not bother to use it and even folded it, looking entirely nonchalant as the five swords came crashing down on him.

Boom!

The sound of an explosion rang out. The self-healing training ground that had just mended itself not long ago cracked and shattered as five long, deep, straight gashes bit into it, light and fire bursting upward in a cloud of heat.

The shield around the training ground shuddered and trembled as if it would shatter.

"Quick, bring the healers to see to him! I don’t want Captain Amros to come after my head!" Magus Arch panicked and looked toward where the Captain was standing.

But the Captain was as calm as ever and even shook his head at him, pointing at where the explosion occurred. And he froze.

Vacuse was standing there with his umbrella still in his hand and a smirk on his face. He was standing exactly at the point where the attack met, but there wasn’t a single scratch on him. Not even was his clothing out of place.

"Wh... how?" Magus Arch knew his attack didn’t miss, and a third circle couldn’t run faster than it. No matter what, he should still have been caught in it.

Vacuse looked at him and shrugged. "The question is, can your attacks defeat me?"

Magus Arch got angry again. That attack of five swords was one of his strongest attacks that even dangerous monsters ran from. So how could this guy just avoid it like that?

Magus Arch was a powerful Magus in his circle because he was one of the fastest. With his speed alone, he could kill most people before they even knew what hit them, but his first attack on Vacuse had already nullified his speed, and now, somehow, he was blocking his powerful attacks.

He gritted his teeth. If they could fight melee, then there would be no illusion, and he was sure of his own win. But what about now? Then he realized one thing—Vacuse had not even tried to attack him once.

’..he must be planning something..’ Magus Arch watched him warily. He raised his hand and began to shoot beams of light at Vacuse, testing him out, and as expected, he blocked them with his umbrella.

’..so, why didn’t he block my stronger attack with the umbrella? Because it wouldn’t hold up? Then how did he block that five swords attack? Come to think of it, no matter what, if he blocked my attack then he should have some scratch. Even dust did not touch this guy! He did not block it! He must have used some secret method to directly avoid the attack!..’

Vacuse, on the other side, could almost see the gears turning in Magus Arch’s head, and he knew what he must be thinking. ’..how did I block his attack without any scratch? Not even dirt reached me in the middle of an explosion..’

Of course, Vacuse simply retreated into the void when the attack was used. That way, he completely avoided it.

The two of them watched each other over the distance, and Vacuse saw the moment something clicked in the Magus’s head. His eyes widened.

"I see! You must have a teleport skill, or maybe it is the Artifact? Something that temporarily takes you out of the fight and allows you to avoid my attack. Impressive. You used the dust and debris of the explosion to shield my view from seeing what happened. Not bad." Magus Arch grinned.

Vacuse didn’t try to deny it. In fact, he realized that Magus Arch was probably the strongest third circle Magus he had ever faced.

The man was strong. But then again, Vacuse hadn’t gone all out. If he did with Sivan, then he absolutely stood no chance. And from the look on Magus Arch’s face, he might have to call his void creature soon.

Magus Arch did his spell again, and five swords appeared in the air, but this time he continued. The five swords combined to form a single sword, and then that sword shrunk until it was the size of a knife.

The Magus held the knife and smiled. "How are you going to avoid a thrust attack? I want to see your trick again. There’ll be no explosion to hide behind."

Vacuse’s eyes gleamed. ’..so, you’ll quickly launch another attack immediately I pop out of the void again right. I think it’s time to take the fight to you...’
