The Strongest Curse Master
Chapter 428: Raw Negative Energy
CHAPTER 428: RAW NEGATIVE ENERGY
"We will go secure the perimeter," Banner informed the Nazir, slapping David’s back.
"I will guard the entrance," the curse terrorist group’s captain reported, preparing to follow his mates out of the cave, scared to be alone with the Nazir. Especially with the rhythmic but spooky chants of Egger reciting the curse spell echoing in the cave.
The trio dared to leave the cave only after the Nazir gave them a nod. The Nazir’s Curselings had already secured the perimeter and were guarding the cave, but the cave was feeling crowded, so he agreed. He found a spot by the entrance of the cave entrance and sat on his knees, closing his eyes, he began to meditate without any care in the world as his Sealing Curseling Lockey flew over and sat on his shoulder, ensuring nobody could leave or enter the cave without it knowing.
Meanwhile, Marcus was at his wit’s end, trying everything he could think of to use the mental strength at his disposal to unlock the curse seal on the back of his neck. In the last few minutes, in his mind he tried reliving every instance he learned and practiced mental strength in his entire lifetime. His memory was not one of his strong suits, but in this time of crisis he could only rely on it, his partner needed him.
In the darkness, paralysed, Marcus couldn’t see anything but could hear the Curse Caster reciting his spell. Every syllable uttered cut into Marcus’s heart like being whipped, reminding him not to lose focus or give up. Believing that Berry wasn’t dead until the Curse Caster was done chanting his spell kept Marcus motivated even in the face of countless failed attempts. He was prepared to die trying rather than give up unlocking the curse seal on the back of his neck. However, he did not have the time. It was now or never.
Marcus’ struggle continued for a while until the cave suddenly fell silent as the echoes died, causing Marcus’s eyes to bleed. Tears of blood rolled down his cheeks as he went into a mental breakdown realizing the ugly truth: he had failed for the last time as there were no more retries left, his buddy was dead.
He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t. With his body paralyzed, there was no way for him to release his raw negative emotions building inside him. However, amidst the chaos filling his mind, his instinct directed his raw negative emotion toward the curse seal on the back of his neck.
*Click*
Under the force of Marcus’s raw emotion, the curse seal on the back of his neck did not unlock but broke and disintegrated, giving him full control over his body and its curse circuits.
Realizing what had transpired, Marcus pushed himself back onto his feet, continuing to suppress his raw negative emotions building inside of him, not wanting to alert his captors. Leaning against the cave wall, using the darkness of the cave to hide his body, Marcus walked towards’ the entrance.
A few yards in, Marcus found the curse caster standing over the dried-up body of his buddy as it disintegrated, leaving behind his innate curse tool, a pearl bracelet. Witnessing the curse caster bending over to pick up the curse tool, Marcus could no longer control his racing emotions and screamed as he dashed forward at the curse caster, summoning his innate curse tool, a pipe wrench.
Having just completed a curse ritual, Egger felt lightheaded as he bent to pick up the innate sky-tier curse tool, thinking that he had to conduct an even bigger curse ritual before they left. Therefore, he barely had time to react as he heard Marcus’s scream. Next thing he knew, he saw the world actually split in two. The serrated side of Marcus’s pipe wrench curse tool had cut Egger’s body into two perfect halves in a fraction of a second and both halves fell to the ground as they began to disintegrate leaving behind his innate curse tool, a blood-stained human skin parchment. However, the parchment had a scaly pattern on it similar to the one found on crocodile leather.
Seeing the Curse caster fall so easily, even Marcus was surprised because last time he checked, the Curse caster and his team seemed to have the life-steal curse spell buff. He wondered if the curse spell broke when they wore the curse suppression cuffs. No longer dwelling on it, Marcus swiftly picked up Berry and Curse caster’s innate curse tool.
Just as Marcus prepared to leave, he saw the narrow path of the cave being blocked by a figure, it was the Curse Charmer. Seeing him, Marcus’s anger bubbled, but this time he controlled himself, seeing the darkness surrounding the Curse Charmer kept swallowing the light from the cave entrance until cave entrance completely vanished from his sight.
*Clap* *Clap*
The Nazir slowly clapped, gazing at Marcus with amusement. Though indifferent to Egger’s death, he was thoroughly impressed by Marcus who not only managed to break Lockey’s curse seal but kill their weakened Sky-tier Curse caster at his weakest. He would have been more impressed if only the latter had managed to save his friend.
"Let’s die together!" Marcus screamed, knowing the Curse Charmer had him surrounded. He wouldn’t be able to leave here alive, but he didn’t want to leave here, he wanted revenge. He wanted them to pay for what they did to his buddy. He wanted to take them all down, even at the cost of his life.
The amusement in the Nazir’s eyes grew stronger seeing Marcus continue to struggle even when faced with the dead end. He couldn’t wait to see how Marcus planned to struggle free until he sensed a large amount of chaotic curse energy brewing past Marcus from deep within the cave. That was when recalled the various items spewed out by Marcus’s holster curse tool on the cave ground earlier. He didn’t even bother to give them a second glance after he got what he wanted. Now it was time he paid for his negligence.
"Let’s die!" Marcus yelled as finally detonated his arsenal of curse tools and curse gadgets lying at the end of the cave, causing a huge explosion. He simultaneously pounced on the Curse charmer to stop him from escaping, but the latter vanished into the darkness. Following the explosion, the hill caved-in leading to massive landslides in all directions.
