The Strongest Urban Son-in-law
Chapter 32 - 30 Unqualified!
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 30 UNQUALIFIED!
Ye Feng stood beside Lin Zhen, still wearing an easy smile as if he had done something as simple as eating or drinking; there seemed to be nothing worth boasting about in his own eyes.
"Sir Lin, I’ll offer one hundred million for this piece of purple jadeite. May I buy it from you?" At this moment, a jadeite merchant stepped forward and asked.
"Sir Lin, I’ll offer one hundred and ten million. Will you sell it to me?"
"I’ll offer one hundred and thirty million!" Suddenly, the surrounding businessmen became excited, each calling out their bids.
Lin Zhen, however, waved his hand with an unruffled expression, "No rush, no rush."
Lin Zhen then looked at Li Linfeng, a mischievous glint in his eye, "Old Sir Li, do you remember the bet we made just now? Isn’t it time to fulfill your promise? This was your own suggestion, don’t tell me you’re going to renege!"
Li Linfeng’s face turned an iron shade, and with clenched teeth, he said, "Fine, I admit it, my Zhang Family is indeed not a match for your Lin Family. We have lost today. But remember, this is only temporary, I will win it back!"
"Not bad! Not bad!" Lin Zhen smiled, nodding repeatedly. It had been a very long time since he had gained such an upper hand over Li Linfeng.
Li Linfeng looked at Lin Zhen, "Old Sir Lin, what do you plan to do with this jadeite? Your Lin Family doesn’t deal in jewelry business, and it’s of no use to take it back. Name your price, I’ll buy it!"
Lin Zhen chuckled softly, "No rush, no rush. Have you forgotten something else..."
Upon hearing Lin Zhen’s words, Li Linfeng’s face showed anger, "Lin Zhen, I’ve already fulfilled our previous bet, what more do you want now?"
Lin Zhen looked at Li Linfeng, "Li Linfeng, have you forgotten what you just said? You stated that if Ye Feng truly discovered the most valuable jadeite, you would take him as your master and become his apprentice. Now, with so many witnesses present, are you intending to go back on your word?"
"You!" Li Linfeng was stunned; he had almost forgotten that he indeed made such a statement earlier.
Li Linfeng had not only mocked Lin Zhen once or twice before, causing Lin Zhen to lose face. Now that he finally had such a good opportunity, how could Lin Zhen let it go? He was determined to use it to get even.
"What ’you’? Are you saying the words you spoke were mere farts? Just admit that what you, Li Linfeng, said was as trivial as a fart and we can consider you never said anything about the bet, how about that?" Lin Zhen looked at Li Linfeng with a smile, his heart brimming with triumph—it had been a long time since he felt so refreshingly vindicated.
"You actually want me to become the apprentice of someone younger, Lin Zhen, don’t go too far, I’m warning you!" Li Linfeng’s face was beet red as he bellowed.
"If you’re unwilling, then just admit that whatever you, Li Linfeng, said was nonsense, and we’ll leave it at that!" Lin Zhen was relentless.
Li Linfeng’s heart twisted with indecision. Whether admitting his words were empty or taking Ye Feng as a master, either option was a great loss of face. After weighing his options, Li Linfeng eventually decided to acknowledge his words were empty.
Li Linfeng had studied stone gambling for decades, and if he suddenly became the apprentice of someone in their twenties, he would live the second half of his life amid the mockery of his peers, becoming a complete laughingstock.
"Forget it, Grandpa Lin, he isn’t worthy to be my apprentice. I don’t have such a foolish apprentice..." Just as Li Linfeng was about to speak, Ye Feng cut in first.
"You! What do you mean ’foolish’? Am I foolish!" Li Linfeng’s eyes widened, blazing with fury.
Having a knack for jewelry and stone gambling from a young age, Li Linfeng had been known as a prodigy in his youth, and in sixty years, no one had ever called him foolish.
"What’s wrong, did I make a mistake?" Ye Feng spoke indifferently, "With this piece of unpolished purple jadeite, do you know how to cut it so as to not waste any jadeite and perfectly remove the scrap?"
"Crazy! How can you perfectly separate it without polishing? Do you think I’m an idiot?" Li Linfeng cursed loudly.
"Are you not?" Ye Feng’s eyes showed undisguised disdain.
"Little bastard, I really want to see how exactly you’re going to separate it!" Li Linfeng shouted furiously.
Ye Feng couldn’t be bothered with Li Linfeng; had it not been for the fact that he was a weakling who dared to talk nonsense, Ye Feng would have slapped him to death long ago.
Ye Feng picked up the piece of purple jadeite rough stone and began to draw on it with a pen.
After finishing the drawing, Ye Feng handed the jadeite rough to the Stone Cutting Master, "Just cut along the lines I drew, and you can separate it perfectly!"
"This kid’s gone mad! At this stage, polishing is naturally what you’d do. If you damage the jadeite inside, its value will be greatly diminished!" Everyone was shocked as they watched Ye Feng.
"Cut!" Ye Feng commanded.
The domineering pressure of a superior made it impossible for the Stone Cutting Master to object, and he began cutting involuntarily.
"Zzzzzz~~~"
With one cut, the edge material came off.
"What!" The crowd was astounded, looking at Ye Feng as if seeing a ghost; the cut had indeed perfectly separated the edge material without harming the jadeite inside by even a hair’s breadth.
Witnessing this scene, everyone was so shocked that they were speechless, unable to rationalize that this was actually happening.
"Again!" Ye Feng commanded once more.
"Zzzzzz~~~" Then another piece of edge material was cut off.
The edge material was perfectly separated, again without any damage to the jadeite inside.
Three cuts, four cuts!
The edge material kept on being cut off, leaving the crowd in awe, their inner turmoil continuously surging and unstoppable.
Soon, the whole jadeite was separated out, all the edge materials had been cut away, turning into scrap.
"Miraculous skill! What a miraculous skill!" Even Sir Lin Zhen couldn’t help but exclaim loudly.
Those present felt it was incredible; without polishing, all the waste material was removed directly – such a thing was unheard of, a first sight for them.
"How is this possible?" Li Xue’er and Li Linfeng were completely stunned, finding it hard to accept this as reality.
"I said, just because you can’t do it, doesn’t mean I can’t. Even this you can’t imagine, and yet you say you’re not foolish. What right do you have to be my disciple?" Ye Feng spoke calmly but with thick disdain.
