The Supreme Soldier in the City
Chapter 503: 513: Harmony
Chapter 503: Chapter 513: Harmony
Christopher Brown is also a city mayor, a position of high power. Although not as high as Lucy Campbell’s, he’s not someone John Brown can order around. However, with the anti-corruption wave in SSUP Country growing stronger, as a mayor, he’s very sensitive to such matters. If Samuel Johnson keeps indulging his daughter and this gets out online, it won’t just be Samuel Johnson who is in trouble; the entire city will feel the immense pressure.
John Brown sent the video directly to him, giving him the chance to handle it discreetly, without causing a national frenzy that’s hard to contain. Thus, he immediately made his decision.
Despite Samuel Johnson’s usual arrogance, a call from the mayor means his political career is completely ruined, and once he enters the Integrity Department, he’ll likely never see the outside of a cell again. He immediately became dispirited, far from his former arrogance.
“Dad! Dad! What happened?” Rachel Wilson asked loudly, still ignorant of the crisis.
“Daughter, it’s over for me. The mayor has already called me to report to the Integrity Department.”
As soon as she heard this, Rachel Wilson slumped to the ground, speechless and stunned. With her father finished, it meant it was over for her too.
Sarah Grandy sneered at this point, “This is called karma, you’re getting what you deserve now.”
John Brown couldn’t be bothered with them anymore. In the past, he’d leave a way out for people, but Rachel Wilson was excessively arrogant this time. So he left them no room for maneuver, putting them to death directly.
The onlookers were all thrilled, witnessing a high-ranking official’s fall firsthand was immensely satisfying, making them feel as if they had helped contribute to his downfall.
Easton Johnson immediately left with his people. At this point, he needed to distance himself from Samuel Johnson. The city managers followed suit, as Samuel Johnson would no longer be their leader. They no longer had to flatter him. Today’s embarrassment was all due to Rachel Wilson; they were being extremely polite not to beat her up.
The crowd gradually dispersed. Samuel Johnson and Rachel Wilson supported each other as they left. Samuel still harbored a glimmer of hope, thinking Christopher Brown might just be soothing public anger, and he’d eventually face no serious consequences. Many former leaders had been taken down in this manner only to be transferred to other departments after some time.
Unfortunately, his hopes were entirely dashed. Upon arrival at the Integrity Department, he was detained, and the prosecution quickly got involved, leaving him no chance to recover.
Rachel Wilson was no angel either. She had embezzled a lot of money in her father’s name at her workplace, and was accordingly arrested. Her husband, however, didn’t face much trouble and wasn’t arrested, but he did immediately file for divorce from her. He had endured her for so long, and now he no longer had to.
All these are stories for another day. For now, John Brown and his companions continued vacationing by the sea. The incident left Sarah Grandy and Sandra exhilarated; they chirped away incessantly sitting together.
“Sister Sandra, that punch I delivered was so satisfying. One punch and the guy’s nose was bleeding profusely. The funniest part was him crying, a grown man crying after being punched.”
“Lisa Smith, mine was even more amusing. I just slapped him, and he cried out loud.”
Through the scuffle, Sarah Grandy and Sandra quickly became close friends, laughing heartily as they recounted the earlier incident, with no trace of their previous animosities remaining.
“Ouch, my hand hurts so badly.” As Sarah Grandy tried to grab a bottle of water, she cried out when her hand gripped it.
Sandra grimaced, adding, “Turns out, hurting others a thousand times still harms yourself eight hundred times. My hand hurts too.”
Gina Lopez chuckled, “Look at you two, you’re like two violent women.”
Sarah Grandy giggled, “I’m a tomboy.”
John Brown sat between Sandra and Sarah Grandy, saying, “Give me your hands. I forgot how tender your hands are, otherwise, I wouldn’t let you hit people. After all, there are bones in the human face, how could your hands not hurt? Come, let me massage them so they won’t swell into little buns, making it hard for you to hold things later.”
Both obediently extended their hands. Their backs were already slightly swollen. John Brown took one hand in each and started massaging them.
“Uncle, it hurts.”
“Brother-in-law, be gentle.”
Both cried out immediately.
“Bear with it, or else it’ll hurt more later.” John Brown didn’t loosen his grip, continuing the massage.
They had no choice but to grit their teeth and endure it, feeling much better after a while, and resumed talking about the incident, likely to discuss it for several days.
While rubbing Sandra’s hand with his right hand, John Brown suddenly felt something tickle his palm. Turning to look at Sandra, he caught her winking at him playfully.
John Brown couldn’t help but smile. Previously, he used to engage in a bit of harmless flirtation with Sandra. Having not seen her much in the past month, there naturally hadn’t been any flirtation. Now, engaging in this playful banter again was quite a joy for him.
Sure, here is the translation:
Emily Lopez saw that James Brown didn’t object, and she played more enthusiastically. Her little finger danced in James’s palm like a little snake, tapping here and there, with a nonchalant expression on her face, pretending as if nothing was happening.
“Godfather, I’m hungry.” At this moment, Emily Brown ran up to James Brown, and James let go of the two hands, picked up his daughter, and laughed, “Shall godfather grill some meat for you?”
“Yes, yes, let’s have grilled meat.”
The little girl immediately shouted excitedly. She had never experienced grilling meat herself before.
They had already prepared the grilling equipment when they arrived. James was quite familiar with this sort of thing, and it didn’t take long before everything was ready. Then everyone gathered around the charcoal fire, grilling meat, chatting, and playing with Emily, truly enjoying themselves.
After eating until she was full, Little Violet soon became sleepy. Gina Lopez held her as she fell asleep in Gina’s arms. After a day of bonding, the little girl really got along well with Gina, which made James Brown very happy.
Everyone was quite tired that day, and by around nine o’clock, they all went into the tent to rest.
However, there was only one man in this tent, James Brown, who was supposed to sleep at the far end, and next to him was his wife, Gina Lopez.
But Charlotte insisted on sleeping next to James, so James had no choice but to let Charlotte sleep at the edge, next to Gina Lopez. On the other side was Little Violet, and further down was Emily Lopez.
They only brought thin blankets, just three in total. Originally, James and Gina would share a blanket, but Gina worried that the little girl might kick the blanket at night, so she shared one with Little Violet. James shared one with Charlotte, since Gina knew that even if she didn’t let them share a blanket, it was like hiding one’s ignorance.
However, for Charlotte, this held special significance, greatly changing her view of Gina. She lay on James’s chest and said to Gina, “Sister Gina, you’re so kind. I’ll definitely listen to you from now on and won’t cause you trouble anymore. I’ll also stand by your side.”
Gina found it amusing and said, “Should I be thanking you then?”
“Hehe, no need. You’ve been so good to me; I’m not ungrateful, so I must repay you well. If anyone tries to steal Uncle, I will definitely help you.”
Gina lightly tapped Charlotte’s forehead and said, “I really don’t know why you’re so silly.”
“Following Uncle, I’d rather be silly for life.” Charlotte giggled and rested her face on James’s neck.
Though Gina knew James had relationships with other women, it still made her feel a bit sour seeing Charlotte being affectionate with him.
Charlotte quickly noticed this and cheekily said, “Sister Gina, don’t be jealous. I’m just taking a little advantage secretly. Uncle is still your husband.”
Being caught by Charlotte, Gina felt a bit embarrassed, snorted, and said, “If you don’t mind losing out, then take advantage.”
“Then I won’t be polite.” Charlotte happily giggled again as her little hand reached for James’s waist.
James quickly grabbed Charlotte’s hand, feeling a bit uneasy flirting with another girl beside his wife.
“Alright, let’s sleep to avoid waking Emily.” Gina said this, then closed her eyes.
James intended to say something to Charlotte, but hearing Gina’s words, he closed his mouth, while Charlotte still mischievously insisted on reaching into his pants. James was worried about making too much noise, so he just let her hand go inside, and Charlotte held onto James’s thing and finally settled down.
Charlotte didn’t do anything further, just finding satisfaction in holding James beside Gina, believing that she could do more in the future, but knowing she shouldn’t rush.
However, in the middle of the night, rustling sounds appeared, waking James. Despite the darkness inside the tent, he knew it was Emily Lopez trying to get up.
“Emily, what are you doing?” James whispered.
Emily whispered back, “I need to use the restroom. Brother-in-law, come with me.”
“Alright.” James immediately agreed. The nighttime beach was quite deserted, and there weren’t many groups camping there, so he was uneasy letting Emily go out alone.
The two left the tent and headed towards a nearby shared bathroom. The night wind blew, and Emily shivered a bit, “It’s cold!” She looked towards James.
James also felt it was quite chilly outside since Emily was dressed lightly, so he extended his arm. Emily smiled sweetly, leaned against James, embraced his waist, and James naturally draped his arm around her shoulder.
The bathroom here was just a wall separating the male and female sides, very simple. One could hear sounds from the other side. James relieved himself, but as he came out, there was a scream from the opposite side—it was Emily’s voice.
