John Brown was startled and hurriedly rushed to the ladies’ room, just as Grace Lopez came rushing out and fell into his arms.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” John Brown looked into the ladies’ room but didn’t see anything, and quickly asked.

“Brother-in-law, I was scared to death, scared to death.” Grace Lopez clung tightly to John Brown, her body still trembling.

“What exactly happened? Tell your brother-in-law, don’t scare me.” John Brown was also a bit flustered, quickly patting Grace Lopez’s back.

“Alright, alright, let’s go back.” John Brown wrapped his arm around Grace Lopez to head back, but just as they took a step, Grace Lopez wobbled a bit and then pushed John Brown, shyly saying, “Brother-in-law, I haven’t pulled up my pants yet.”

John Brown instinctively looked down and saw Grace Lopez’s bare bottom, suddenly feeling immensely embarrassed, thinking to himself, “This girl, really, if you didn’t pull up your pants, just secretly do it, but you have to say it, it’s like you want me to see.”

Grace Lopez quickly pulled up her pants, stuck her tongue out at John Brown, and said, “I got so scared earlier, just ran out without my pants pulled up.”

John Brown could only scold with a stern face, “Still have the nerve to say that, such a big girl, don’t know how to be ashamed.”

“You’re my brother-in-law, not an outsider, if you see, then so be it. Besides, it’s not like you haven’t seen it before.”

John Brown gave a dry cough, Grace Lopez was always so bold, and her words always unexpected, but it reminded him of every time he met Grace Lopez, like when he saw Grace Lopez’s bottom at Gina Lopez’s parents’ home bathroom, it really wasn’t the first time.

“Hehe, what does your dry cough mean? I don’t mind you looking anyway.”

John Brown was even more at a loss for words.

Grace Lopez stopped making John Brown uncomfortable, but as they arrived at the tent’s edge, Grace Lopez halted and said to John Brown, “Brother-in-law, can we sit by the beach? I’m not sleepy anymore.”

John Brown shook his head, saying, “Don’t go to the beach, let’s sit here for a while, it’s too far from the tent, I’m afraid something might happen here without me knowing.”

“Alright, let’s sit here for a bit.” Grace Lopez walked a few steps forward, sitting on the beach about ten meters from the tent.

That distance was absolutely safe, so John Brown followed and sat next to Grace Lopez.

Grace Lopez stretched her arms and hugged John Brown’s left arm, then tilted her head to rest on John Brown’s shoulder, softly saying, “Brother-in-law, do you know what my ideal partner is like?”

John Brown was quite curious about this, so he immediately asked, “What kind of person is it? Later, I’ll help you find one.”

Grace Lopez squinted her eyes and said, “When I was little, my sister and I went out to play, and some little kids bullied us, we were crying until my dad came and scared them away. Since then, I’ve admired my dad a lot.”

John Brown laughed, saying, “You wouldn’t have a father complex, would you?”

“When I was little, I thought my dad was the strongest, as long as he was there, he could protect my sister and me. But as I got older, I knew I couldn’t rely on my dad’s protection forever; I need to find a strong man to protect me. So when looking for a boyfriend, he must be very strong.”

“Haha, that’s not too hard to find, right?”

“Why isn’t it hard?” Grace Lopez turned to look at John Brown, saying, “Brother-in-law, I originally thought it wasn’t difficult, but then you appeared, and I must find someone stronger than you; otherwise if you bully me, wouldn’t I have no one to protect me?”

“How could I bully you? I can’t protect you enough.” John Brown patted Grace Lopez’s hair.

“I know.” Grace Lopez said mischievously, “So I have someone to protect me now, and I don’t need to look for a boyfriend anymore, brother-in-law, you wouldn’t leave me, would you?”

“Of course it’s right to protect you, but you can’t be unmarried forever, living with me and your sister, right?”

“Why can’t I?”

“It’s not that it’s impossible, it’s just that a woman always needs a husband to care for her.”

“Hehe, then I’ll treat you as my husband, alright.”

John Brown’s face immediately darkened. Although he often had ambiguous interactions with Grace Lopez, he had a fondness for her little sister, but he truly never intended to have any relationship with Emily Lopez.

“Haha, just teasing you. Others may snatch my sister’s husband, but I can’t. My sister would strangle me! Besides, you’re my brother-in-law and already treat me well, so why would I need to snatch you to be my husband?”

John Brown let out a sigh of relief and laughed, “Sandra, you really scared me.”

Emily Lopez leaned her head on John Brown’s shoulder and softly said, “Brother-in-law, I’m just happy when you’re with my sister. You must promise me, no matter what happens, never leave my sister.”

John Brown nodded and said, “Since I’m already married to your sister, of course, I won’t leave her.”

“That’s good. As long as you can keep that promise, even if you have a fling, I’ll cover for you.”

“You little devil, what kind of sister are you? Not siding with your sister but with me, your brother-in-law.”

“Of course, I should side with my brother-in-law. This is for her own good; a great man like you doesn’t come twice in this world. It’s already her blessing to be your only lawful wife.”

John Brown smiled without saying a word. As a man, hearing such praise from Emily Lopez naturally put him in a good mood.

Both of them stopped talking, listening to the waves crashing against the rocks and watching the starry sky, which cleared John Brown’s mind remarkably.

Who knows how much time passed when Emily Lopez’s steady breathing reached his ears. John Brown carefully turned his head to see Sandra’s sweet sleeping posture, which resembled Gina Lopez’s so much that when John looked at Sandra, it felt as if he was looking at his wife, making him feel quite at ease.

Cautiously, he picked up Emily Lopez and entered the tent, laying her down. He gently kissed his sleeping daughter and wife before returning to his place, where Sarah Grandy immediately wrapped her arms and legs around him. This habit of hers was something John Brown was used to by now.

The next day, after another enjoyable morning and lunch, John Brown and the others headed home. Little Violet had a lot of fun but was also quite tired, falling asleep on the boat.

Once home, everyone rested a bit. While Sarah Grandy and the little one were playing on the computer in the bedroom, Gina Lopez said to John Brown, “Hubby, I’m going back to work tomorrow. Shouldn’t we send Violet to kindergarten?”

John Brown nodded slightly, “Indeed, we should send her.”

“But I fear she might not agree.”

John Brown also felt a bit troubled, “I could look after her at home temporarily, but long-term, that’s no solution.”

They had only thought about bringing their daughter home, but now that she was back, they encountered new challenges.

“So what do you suggest? I’d love to stay at home with Little Violet, but the company has so much to handle, I cannot possibly stay home.”

John Brown nodded, “Wife, the fact you don’t blame me for bringing Violet home is already a huge relief; how can I put you in a difficult position?”

Gina Lopez gave John Brown a teasing look, “As I said, Violet is like my own daughter now, and of course, I’ll be responsible for everything about her.”

Overwhelmed with gratitude, John Brown thought for a moment and said, “In that case, these next few days, I’ll try getting her into a kindergarten and help her gradually adjust. She will get used to it over time.”

Once agreed upon, John Brown temporarily became a stay-at-home dad. For the sake of his daughter, he had to do so. In fact, being a full-time dad wasn’t so bad, but John Brown knew any change in plans, leaving his daughter suddenly, might make her feel even more unsettled.

The next day, Gina Lopez and Emily Lopez went to work, while John Brown and Sarah Grandy took Emily Brown to kindergarten.

Little Violet was somewhat unwilling; she hadn’t played enough yet and had already attended kindergarten in the Capital of SSUP. Shifting to a new, unfamiliar environment without known friends was not easy for her.

John Brown and Sarah Grandy sweet-talked her and promised various benefits, and the little girl reluctantly agreed to go to kindergarten. John Brown, however, remained worried and stayed outside the kindergarten for the entire day, worried his daughter might have issues or get upset.

Fortunately, Emily Brown proved to be quite independent and was able to adapt without causing trouble, even in a new setting.

A little after four, John Brown picked his daughter up, delivering on all the morning promises, causing the little girl to be very happy. She even agreed to attend kindergarten again the next day.

This relieved John Brown greatly, considering it a good start.

Upon returning home at night, though Gina Lopez had a busy job, she still made time to participate with Emily Brown in some kindergarten-assigned parent-child activities. She wanted to cultivate a mother-daughter relationship herself, without having Sarah Grandy and Emily Lopez do it for her.

By the time the little girl went to bed, almost at nine, Gina Lopez returned to her room to work. Emily Lopez remained in the living room, looking indignantly at John Brown, saying, “Brother-in-law, my feet hurt.”
