The Supreme Soldier in the City
Chapter 514 - 524: Kissed the Wrong Person
CHAPTER 514: CHAPTER 524: KISSED THE WRONG PERSON
John Brown stepped out of the private room, his mind suddenly clear, feeling a bit amused. How did he end up making such bets with these security guards? After a moment’s thought, he understood. Ever since returning to the city, he hadn’t been living too indulgently. In fact, being with these soldiers made him feel at ease, so he reverted to his army habits, like boasting about the kind of woman he’d found after missions.
Shaking his head, he originally didn’t want to make this call. At worst, he could just let these security guards tease him. But suddenly, something stirred in his heart, and he dialed Gina’s number. Maybe having his wife take him home while drunk could be a fun interaction between a couple.
Sometimes, marriage shouldn’t just be about mutual respect but also involves throwing small challenges at each other. Perhaps because he had drunk quite a bit, John felt that his married life with Gina had been too cautious, so he wanted a change.
The phone rang twice before Gina answered. John immediately said, "Honey, I’ve had too much to drink."
Gina scolded playfully, "Didn’t I tell you to drink less? Can you manage it? Do you want me to come pick you up?"
"You really need to come pick me up. I just bragged to them that I could get you to pick me up with a single call. If you don’t come, that’d be embarrassing for me."
"You... you didn’t mention our relationship, did you?"
"No, I just said you could come get me when I called, didn’t say you were my wife. Hehe, when men are together, they like to boast a little."
"Haha..." Gina burst into laughter. John’s antics indeed gave her a unique feeling as she teased, "Alright then, I’ll have someone..."
Before Gina could finish, John heard the door to the private room opening, and he quickly said, "Let’s settle it like this then," before cheerfully hanging up.
"Manager Johnson, is Mr. Lopez coming to pick you up later?" John Smith and David Johnson came out, both smiling at John Brown.
John Brown laughed heartily and bragged, "Of course, you’ll see soon enough. If I, John Brown, don’t have this ability, how could I be your manager?"
The two pulled John Brown back into the room, and John Smith nervously said, "Manager, you shouldn’t mess around with this. Even if you use some odd reason to get Mr. Lopez to come, you’ll face his anger. How will you manage at the company then?"
David Johnson also expressed worry, "Manager, you can’t mess with this. You know Mr. Lopez’s temper, he’s uncompromising. He’s already fired six or seven for not working properly at the company."
John Brown shrugged, saying, "They’re different. My rapport with Mr. Lopez isn’t ordinary. If I ask him to pick me up, he surely will."
"Manager, what exactly is your relationship with Mr. Lopez?" David hesitated as he looked at John Brown.
John Brown smiled proudly, saying, "When this company was founded, there weren’t many people. It was us pioneers who helped build it. He wouldn’t break ties just because of this small issue, would he?"
"Manager, this won’t work. Acting like this will make him think you’re taking advantage of favor. Even if you’re not fired, it could affect how he views you, which isn’t beneficial. We were just joking around earlier; why so serious?"
Everyone advised John Brown not to let Gina come over, not realizing he had another plan, so he completely ignored them, insisting Gina come.
Seeing persuasion was ineffective, everyone felt a bit nervous. The drinking mood was gone. Within fifteen minutes, the private room door was knocked, and everyone except John Brown stood up in unison.
The door opened, and Gina appeared at the entrance. Everyone immediately chorused, "Hello, Mr. Lopez."
Gina slightly waved her hand, frowning, and said, "You’ve turned this place into a smokehouse. Can’t you smoke less?"
Everyone looked at each other, unsure how to respond.
John Brown chuckled, somewhat sheepishly, saying, "Mr. Lopez, you’re here."
Gina gave John another glance, saying, "You asked me, so how could I not come? You’ve probably had enough by now, right? I’ll take you home."
John Brown staggered to his feet, proudly telling his buddies, "Alright, I’ll leave first. Use this money to settle the bill, don’t say I’m being stingy."
The security guards escorted John and Gina out, each secretly worrying for John. Mr. Lopez’s tone was unkind, and they wondered whether John would face repercussions later.
John got into the car, fastened his seatbelt, while Gina rolled down the window, saying, "The smell of alcohol is strong; you’ve really drunk a lot today."
John laughed, "I can’t help it. I just joined the security department, so I have to connect with them. It’ll be easier to manage them later. These guys can really drink; they even got me a bit drunk."
"Alright, rest for a while. I’ll make some hot tea for you at home."
John agreed, closing his eyes, feeling quite comfortable with Gina taking care of him. Gina clearly wasn’t angry; her face held some excitement, seeming quite pleased at picking him up.
In no time, the car arrived at the parking lot of the community. Gina helped John Brown into the elevator. It was just the two of them in the elevator, and as soon as the door closed, John suddenly hugged Gina and without a word, kissed her on the mouth.
"Mmm..." Gina was clearly unprepared for John’s sneak attack, staring at him with wide eyes.
John’s tongue quickly slipped into Gina’s mouth, and his hands began to caress her back.
Gina’s body trembled slightly, and after a moment’s struggle, she kissed John back.
Unfortunately, the elevator moved fast and reached the destination in just a dozen seconds. John let go of Gina, who rolled her eyes at him with a mischievous smile on her face.
That playful smile made John feel something was off. Gina usually didn’t smile like that. Just as he was about to ask, Gina had already opened the door.
"Sandra, did you bring your brother-in-law back?" Another voice of Gina called out from inside.
John’s body shook, and he silently cursed himself; this was indeed not Gina. He had sensed it earlier but didn’t get it straight before kissing her.
"Yes, I brought him back. Brother-in-law, why are you in a daze? Come on in." Sandra gave John a tug and secretly glared at him.
John felt awkward indeed, but naturally couldn’t show it. Suddenly, pretending to be drunk, he swayed and grabbed onto the door frame, saying, "I... I really drank too much."
"Why did you drink so much?" Gina stepped forward and, together with Sandra, helped John to the living room, personally taking off his shoes and letting him lie on the sofa.
John waved his hand and said, "Wife, I’m really happy today. You really gave me a lot of face, didn’t let me lose face."
Gina scolded, "Why are you still talking about this? I’m your wife; if I don’t give you face, who will? Sandra, go wet a towel; I’ll get your brother-in-law some tea."
Being attended to by both his wife and sister-in-law, John kept sneakily glancing at Sandra, but she didn’t show any displeasure, running around taking care of him.
The next morning, John first dropped his daughter off at the kindergarten, then took Gina to her office, and finally, took Sandra to school.
John intended to pretend he remembered nothing from his drunken state last night, but felt it was too sleazy, so he wanted to clear things up with Sandra this morning. As he drove slowly, awkwardly he said, "Sandra, about last night, I..."
"Naughty brother-in-law, why did you kiss me?" Sandra turned her head and glared at John.
John gave an awkward laugh and said, "At that time, I thought you were your sister. You didn’t say you were Gina, so I..."
"So, if you knew it was me, you wouldn’t have kissed me even if you were beaten to death?"
"Yes, yes, absolutely wouldn’t." John nodded vigorously.
"You naughty brother-in-law, this isn’t the first time you’ve kissed me."
"What?" John widened his eyes and thought hard, but couldn’t recall when he kissed Sandra before, hesitantly saying, "Sandra, there was no such thing; it was just this once that I mistook you, and I was drunk."
"Who said so? Think again." Sandra blinked mischievously at John.
"Um... I really can’t remember, Sandra, please don’t tease me." John felt a chill down his spine. Flirting with his sister-in-law was one thing, but kissing back and forth really crossed the line.
Sandra wrinkled her nose and said, "I didn’t say I’d hold you accountable. Do you have to be that scared?"
"How could I not be? If your sister knows I kissed you, she’d get mad at me, maybe even kick me out."
Sandra giggled, "I was just scaring you; it was only that once last night."
"Really?"
"Believe it or not." Sandra replied.
John felt relieved; since he really drank too much last night, even if Gina found out, it could be excused. However, he somehow felt like Sandra was deceiving him; it seemed like they really had kissed before?
