The Supreme Soldier in the City
Chapter 529 - 539: Michael Wilson Comes for Revenge
CHAPTER 529: CHAPTER 539: MICHAEL WILSON COMES FOR REVENGE
Michael Wilson was about to lose his mind. He had never felt so humiliated before, being stuffed into a trash can by John Brown and Melody Yoody, and even covered in garbage. It was an immense insult. If it had been just John Brown, he might have let it slide, but Melody was involved as well, so he naturally hated her too.
He didn’t immediately tell his family about such a disgraceful incident. He sought revenge, intending to make John Brown and Melody pay back a hundredfold, only then could his heart’s bitterness be relieved.
In YODC City, the W Region didn’t hold much power, so Michael Wilson immediately made a phone call to people nearby in K City, bringing over a dozen men.
He planned to not only target John Brown but also Melody; having suffered such humiliation, even if he did something to her, the W Region would back him, and the Yawk Family wouldn’t dare say anything.
As Michael made these moves, John Brown wasn’t foolish. Quite the opposite, he knew these spoiled brats well; when they set out to deal with someone, they’d use any means necessary.
Therefore, John made some preparations. If Michael was only targeting him, he wouldn’t care at all, but he didn’t want Michael to harm anyone close to him. That was the main reason why John had been more restrained in his actions recently.
However, John didn’t let Gina and the others know. Although Gina was an executive, she was essentially still an ordinary person, unfamiliar with such dark matters. In her mind, the world was still bright, so John didn’t want her to understand these things.
After the last attack, although John seemed to have the Hawk Squad come over to help solve the problem, he couldn’t have them always following him. So he brought over a foreign force.
This force was a strong mercenary organization. John had once collaborated with this mercenary on a mission—a perilous task that nearly led to the organization’s complete destruction, and even their leader died in action.
Before his demise, the mercenary leader greatly admired John, cementing a deep friendship, and entrusted the organization to John with his dying breath.
John took over the mercenary organization, using his powerful abilities to lead the remaining members through several missions, rebuilding it once more, gaining strong loyalty from its members. However, since John was still part of the Hawk Squad, he couldn’t devote much time to these affairs, and eventually handed the organization over to others to manage, maintaining its status over the years.
None knew of this endeavor, and John never intended to expand in this area; those missions were merely complying with a friend’s request.
Mercenary organizations aren’t officially recognized by nations globally, but they are plentiful and operate independently, distinct from terrorist organizations. They perform dangerous tasks but don’t endanger national security, hence aren’t heavily targeted, and are even employed by some countries for certain operations.
Hiring mercenaries costs money, but deploying your own military force or personnel poses risks that can complicate many affairs, making mercenary hire much simpler.
Top mercenary organizations are well-connected with nations worldwide, and while John’s organization wasn’t as renowned, its current strength wasn’t weak. This was partly why John didn’t focus much on it. Given his abilities, he could potentially propel it into the top twenty globally.
Back in the country, John faced some troubles and had to mobilize his organization to handle special matters, finding them quite efficient.
With a team like that supporting him, John remained at ease, working as a security manager during the day, spending evenings with his wife and daughter, and enjoying playful flirtations with his sister-in-law Charlotte and Sarah Grandy.
Three days after confronting Michael Wilson, John received word that Michael had arrived in YODC City with his men. John took no immediate action but had his subordinates keep an eye on Michael, curious to see his intentions.
John wasn’t passive; he assessed what punishment Michael deserved. If Michael went too far, John’s retaliation wouldn’t be any softer.
The phone rang—a call from City Center. The number was unfamiliar. John walked to a secluded spot before answering.
"Troublemaker, you’re quite the trouble magnet," an elderly yet vigorous voice boomed as the call connected.
John instantly recognized it as Melody’s grandfather, John Smith, and said cheerfully, "Grandpa, what brings this comment?"
The old man bellowed, "Don’t play dumb. I told you to deal with the Brownie Family. Why did you first provoke the W Region?"
John chuckled, "Can’t blame me. That brat spoke rudely to Melody and kept targeting me. Even if I didn’t hit him, he’d cause me trouble. Might as well beat him first and feel better about it."
"Troublemaker!" The old man scolded before bursting into laughter, "You’ve got guts. Well, handle it yourself for now. The Yawk Family can’t get involved yet, or it’ll spark major conflict with no benefit, attracting unwanted attention from above."
"No problem. I wouldn’t trouble Grandpa with this. I’ll handle it myself, and when there’s an advantage to gain, you can step in."
"So, you’re saying I’m just reaping benefits?"
"Haha, think of it as a gift for you. Otherwise, when I take Melody, other Smith Family members might object. I can’t let her go back and be disrespected, nor let anyone think your decision was incorrect."
"Is this truly for my sake?"
"Of course."
"Troublemaker, I realize you’re quite cunning."
"You flatter me, Grandpa."
Old Master Smith laughed heartily again, indulging in the exchange. His critique of John’s cunning held no resentment; the Yawk Family lacked such cleverness, a requisite for steering the family into prosperity.
John had anticipated the Yawk Family’s hesitance to act. They didn’t know his exact strength, and rushing into conflict with the W Region was risky, leaving John to face it alone.
John preferred they stayed out, preventing them from discovering his capabilities.
Michael Wilson was arrogant, mirrored in his actions. He aimed to capture John and Melody, severely humiliating them, ultimately killing John. As for Melody, he planned to abuse her before tossing her back to the Yawk Family, getting back at them for rejecting his marriage proposal.
At John’s company door, two vans parked openly. Inside were Michael’s men, waiting to capture John.
John didn’t disappoint them. Around noon, as he stepped out the door, a van door slid open. Four men sprang out, two brandishing a black cloth bag which they slipped over John’s head. The four swiftly hoisted John into the van, which sped off almost instantly—a minute-long operation.
Company members emerging with John froze in shock, quickly shouting, then remembered to call the police.
Gina received the news, merely furrowing her brow. Concerned but not overwhelmed with fear, John had told her beforehand he was aiding Helen Wilson with a case, pretending to be kidnapped, assuring her not to worry.
Nonetheless, John’s abduction worried Gina slightly. She could only hope silently for his safety.
Another group allied with Michael went to capture Melody, but they failed to find her, ultimately giving up.
Michael Wilson’s primary grievance was with John Brown; capturing John meant he didn’t necessarily have to seize Melody. Instead, he directly phoned her.
"Melody, some good news for you," Michael spoke with a smile, though there was a chilling edge in his eyes.
"Michael Wilson, I warn you against foolishness, or you’ll face severe consequences," Melody replied coldly.
Michael laughed, "Are you threatening me?"
"I’m hardly threatening you, Young Master Woods. But society is governed by law, and while the W Region is strong, it can’t control everything. Caution against turmoil even the Yawk Family couldn’t handle," Melody warned.
"Haha, I’d like to see anyone capable of that feat. But for now, know that your wild man has been captured. Don’t you want to come see him?"
