CHAPTER 230: 230: COMPLETELY DEVOURED AND WIPED OUT

Sunlight streamed in through the window, passing through the thin white curtains and falling onto the wooden floor. A soft white rug covered the floor, on which lay a pair of rolled-up pants and a pair of black boxers, half of which had been tossed under the bed.

On the boxers, there was a small yellow chrysanthemum.

A furry foot stuck out from the white blanket, its owner seemingly trapped between sleep and consciousness.

The camera panned upward to reveal a head emerging from the blanket, half of the face buried in the covers. His short hair was a bit messy, but it was still obvious who he was—Mu Nan.

Last night, he had been totally wrecked by a group of staff.

He had his suspicions—hadn’t that little rascal Wei Baixiang deliberately orchestrated the whole thing to get them to gang up on him? Otherwise, why hadn’t it ended as planned? Instead, all those people had rushed at him insisting on having a drink in celebration of the film’s completion, and of course, they absolutely had to toast the director.

While drinking, Mu Nan even caught Wei Baixiang stealing a laugh from the crowd not far away.

That little rascal...

Mu Nan rubbed his temples in frustration.

Wait—why did something feel off about his body?

Mu Nan suddenly sat up and slightly lifted the blanket.

Damn it! He wasn’t wearing any pants?!

Who brought him back last night?!

If it were him, there’s no way he’d end up completely undressed; if it were coworkers, they wouldn’t go to the trouble of stripping him so thoroughly. Right?

A certain rascal’s face flashed through Mu Nan’s mind. Like a thunderclap, the realization struck him, shaking him to his core.

This was bad!

Had Wei Baixiang been the one to bring him back last night?!

He remembered clearly. After entering the door, without even turning on the lights, he had pinned that little rascal against the wall and shamelessly helped himself to her. If Wei Baixiang had rejected him, it might’ve turned out okay, but instead, she had responded warmly. Already intoxicated, all of his principles flew out the window, and he continued indulging.

On the floor, on the sofa, on the bed...

Traces of them were everywhere.

Thinking about it now still stirred something primal within him.

Before last night, he would’ve never guessed that the seemingly innocent girl could be so fiery in bed—more experienced than him, the so-called veteran. She had almost outdone him.

Damn it!

Mu Nan, initially thrilled, suddenly cursed at himself, "You idiot! Look at what your drinking did; do you even realize what you’ve done? That girl trusted you, came to help you out of kindness, and yet you..."

Even he despised himself.

Despite the fact that Wei Baixiang hadn’t rejected him in the end, he still had no right to "take advantage" of her like that. It didn’t matter that the "advantage" was leaving—she was still someone around him, and if word got out, who would still work with him in the future?

Of course, there might also be situations where girls looking to use the casting couch might come to him and try to climb into his bed.

"Ah... What kind of mess is this?"

Mu Nan was deeply conflicted. After a long while, he finally climbed out of bed.

Especially since, after circling his room, he didn’t find any sign of Wei Baixiang—not her shoes, not her clothes, nothing.

Mu Nan grew worried. Could she have taken last night’s events so badly that she’d done something rash?

Not bothering to wash his face or brush his teeth, he hurried to Wei Baixiang’s room to knock on the door. He knocked for ages, but no one answered.

He called her phone, but nobody picked up.

Mu Nan had no choice but to head to the front desk, where they informed him that the guest in room XXX had checked out early in the morning and left.

"She left?!"

She left without so much as a goodbye—this was...

Disaster! Things had really gone south this time!

Just as Mu Nan was agonizing over the situation, his phone rang. Glancing at the screen, he saw it was Wei Baixiang calling.

"Director Mu, up so early, huh?" When he answered, her voice sounded calm, as if nothing had happened, no different from usual.

"Little Wei, are you okay?" Mu Nan couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

"What could possibly be wrong with me? Director Mu, my work here is done, so I’ve headed off. You’re not going to stop me, are you? Even if you do, it’s too late—I’m about to board my flight. Director Mu, see you when I see you!"

With that, Wei Baixiang hung up the call, slipped on her sunglasses, and wheeled her luggage toward the boarding gate.

"Ah..." Listening to the silence after the call disconnected, Mu Nan inexplicably felt a twinge of loss.

What was going on with Wei Baixiang? How could she pretend like nothing had happened? Did she not remember last night?

Or was she simply avoiding the matter?

"Drinking ruins everything! I’m never going to drink again—no, I’ll never drink that much again."

Jiang Nuo walked downstairs, holding his wife’s hand, only to see Mu Nan, dressed in slippers and visibly disheveled, muttering self-recriminations in the lobby. Seeing Mu Nan there wasn’t odd, but his messy state was.

"Mu Nan, what are you doing? Morning exercise? That’s not the way to do it," Jiang Nuo remarked.

"If you slept with a woman last night, but the next morning she left without even saying goodbye, do you think she’s angry, or does she truly not care?"

The question left Jiang Nuo confused: "I’ve only ever slept with my wife, so I can’t say. But if it were my wife, then she would definitely be angry!"

As he spoke, Jiang Nuo instinctively glanced at Mu Qiuniang and added, "But I’d never let such a thing happen. Afterward, I’d make sure to console my wife first before even sleeping—otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to sleep."

The private nature of his response made Mu Qiuniang blush and return a shy glance: "These kinds of intimate details—do you really need to share them?"

Mu Nan, overwhelmed by their early morning display of affection: "Goodbye!"

Frustrated, he turned away. That lovey-dovey guy—wife goals, friend no more! Absolutely no more!

Jiang Nuo shrugged indifferently: "Honey, let’s go take a walk. A stroll after a meal keeps you healthy till ninety-nine."

With their jade pendants tucked away and neither of them calling out each other’s names, even the passersby who walked right by them didn’t realize that an internationally acclaimed celebrity—Jiang Nuo—was among them.

"Honey, when I’m not filming anything, I’ll just take you out for walks like this. How does that sound?" Jiang Nuo asked cheerfully, fully enjoying the serenity of the moment.

"Alright!" Mu Qiuniang’s gaze softened, clearly savoring their shared time together.

"Don’t bring that annoying all-purpose butler of yours," Jiang Nuo suddenly interjected.

Mu Qiuniang’s lips twitched into a smile. "You’re still jealous, huh?"

Ever since last night, someone had been hearing countless praises for Mu Mingyu and had immediately overturned the vinegar jar, finding him annoying.

Of course! He knew he wasn’t as competent as his wife, but add an all-around capable butler to the mix, and he felt like his wife might get stolen from him.
