The temptation behind gentleness
Chapter 49: The Touching Moment Lasts Only an Instant
The corridor was in complete chaos by now.
A man in his thirties, wearing a yellow safety helmet and dirty, torn clothes, held a knife to a female nurse's throat.
"Save my mom's life, save my mom, hurry up," he cried.
"Otherwise, I'll kill her."
When Su Fan recognized the nurse's face, he was stunned.
It was Luo Ya, the young nurse who had taken care of him after he had passed out from rescuing someone yesterday.
"Ah, don't kill me, please, don't kill me," Luo Ya begged.
She was terrified, constantly pleading for mercy, her body uncontrollably trembling.
Meanwhile, not far away, a doctor was clutching his chest and lying on the ground, blood flowing unstoppably.
It was complete chaos.
Su Fan rushed over.
Someone had called the police.
The hospital leadership had also arrived.
The dean, Chen Haitao, was protected by others behind him.
Liu Ye and Bai Man were also among them.
As the director of the obstetrics department, Liu Ye took the lead.
"Patient, you, you have already broken the law," she said. "Let her go right now."
"If there's any issue, we can negotiate it."
"If you save my mom, I'll release her immediately," he retorted. "Otherwise, we all go down together."
"I know you, you're the director, you deserve to die the most," the man yelled.
"And you, you are the director of the emergency department. It was you who treated my mom when she was admitted," he added.
With that, the man suddenly pulled a bottle from his jacket and hurled it at Bai Man and Liu Ye, who were standing together.
A homemade incendiary device.
"It's over," Bai Man and Liu Ye thought, both feeling despair in their hearts.
This was bound to disfigure them, if not kill them.
"Ah."
People screamed.
"Be careful!"
Su Fan dashed forward.
He grabbed Bai Man and Liu Ye, who stood next to each other, pulled them into his arms, and pressed them to the ground, shielding them with his back to receive the incendiary device.
"Boom."
The explosive in the bottle detonated violently against Su Fan's back.
Glass shards flew everywhere.
"Ah."
Many were injured by the randomly flying glass shards, although not seriously.
"My face, my face!"
"It's over."
Liu Ye and Bai Man were frantically crying out.
They both cried.
"Don't be afraid, it's okay," a gentle voice reassured them both simultaneously.
Only then did they feel the pressure on their bodies and realize what had just happened.
"Get up, move back," Su Fan said through clenched teeth as he pulled the shocked women up from the ground and quickly retreated over ten meters.
Then he shielded them behind his body.
"It's Su Fan."
"Su Fan, you..."
Su Fan faced the perpetrator, his back to the two women.
The women could see Su Fan's back clearly.
His clothes were completely shattered, his back muscles lacerated and bloody, covered with many leftover shards of glass—it was a gruesome sight.
At that moment, they felt fortunate to be unharmed. If that explosion had happened on them, it would have been horrific.
Bai Man wanted to scold Su Fan, but she was human after all, and despite her promiscuous private life, she was indeed a good person.
At that moment, tears streamed from her eyes.
Liu Ye was so moved that she covered her mouth and began to cry.
"How are you," Liu Ye said, attempting to move forward to help Su Fan, but he stopped her.
"I'm fine, don't come any closer," he warned.
"Damn kid, dare to meddle in affairs that don't concern you, no matter, I have even harsher measures," the man threatened.
Saying so, he directly unzipped his jacket.
"Ah!"
Now, people were utterly terrified.
Detonators.
Hundreds of detonators and high explosives.
If they detonated, the entire building would be reduced to rubble.
