CHAPTER 117: SAVING JULIAN

Julian panted heavily, kneeling on the forest floor. His limbs trembled from exhaustion, and every breath he took was a struggle. Yet, despite everything, he was alive.

The beast was dead. He looked around, but couldn’t find anyone around him. However, soon, he heard rustling of trees and the sound of multiple footsteps.

He turned his head and saw multiple individuals, some with matching robes, but all with the same disciplined demeanor. He sensed their cultivation and was shocked to find out they were all at the Golden Core realm.

The cultivators quickly filed into two groups and stood to the side, like proper soldiers, waiting for their lord. And as if confirming his thoughts, two women soon appeared.

The young woman, whose steps were half a foot faster than those of the other woman, was a stunning beauty whom he had never seen before. Her deep purple hair and her stunning hazel eyes had him dazed, wondering how such a beauty could exist.

Even with his disheveled appearance, he could not hide his stunned expression, making him look slightly foolish. Luckily for him, the woman in question was not close enough to see his expression clearly, or else he would have been in a world of trouble.

’Wait, purple hair?’ As soon as he had this thought, his mind quickly snapped out of his reverie, as he immediately recognized the identities of his saviors.

Only one family on the Continent had purple hair, and they were the ones that very few, if any, wanted to trifle with. The fear of them was already deeply ingrained in the cultivators on the continent, particularly those residing in the Southern region.

Julian was the Rank 1 outer disciple of a super sect, so he was more knowledgeable than your average cultivator. He was also from a large noble family that resided within the jurisdiction of this family.

’The House of Vyre...’ This name popped up in his mind as he quickly realised where all these people came from. While he was still lost in thought, the two women had already gotten close to him.

However, they weren’t looking at him. Their attention was on the wolf magic beast that had been flung away. Its body was mostly intact, except for the massive gash that had almost separated one of its limbs.

As an immortal, Elder Glenda could easily dispatch of the beast in one move; however, she didn’t do so. If she hadn’t held back, the wolf would have most annihilated.

Since it was still a valuable source of material for the Young Mistress, she had to make sure to preserve as much of it as possible. That was why it took her two moves.

"Drag it here," Bella ordered. Immediately, one of the two groups went to fetch the body of the beast. It took them a few minutes, but they were able to drag the body of the wolf in front of Bella and Elder Glenda.

Since they weren’t body cultivators, their physical strength wasn’t that much. Just dragging the wolf had already tired out some of them.

Julian, who was still on his knees, could only stare wide-eyed as the massive wolf was dragged next to him. The massive wolf that had been tormenting him for the past day was now lying beside him, dead.

A ferocious expression was still on its face, only this time, it was permanent. However, before Julian could continue to admire it, the body of the wolf suddenly vanished. Bella had stored it inside her storage ring.

This time, she didn’t share the loot with the rest of the team, and they didn’t dare to ask for it either. After all, they hadn’t done anything to help. It had all been Elder Glenda.

Plus, they didn’t have time to properly dissect the wolf’s carcass. They had to be even more careful in the inner region, as there were powerful beasts roaming around.

After storing the wolf magic beast, Bella finally turned her attention to the batter Julian. Beneath his disheveled appearance, she noticed the robes that he was wearing.

They belonged to the War Machine sect, one of the five Super Sects and a rival power that shared the Southern region with her family alongside others.

"What is a disciple of the War Machine sect doing in this region alone?" She asked in a cold and dismissive tone.

"G-Greetings, Young Mistress Vyre. I thank you for saving my life. You have my eternal gratitude." Julian said while bowing his head. Even though he hadn’t seen her before, it didn’t take a genius to recognize who she was.

Judging from her appearance, she looked to be in her twenties. Despite that, she was at the eighth level of the Golden Core realm. Far surpassing him. Such genius talent could only belong to the Young Mistress of the House of Vyre.

"I asked you a question," Bella said, completely ignoring Julian’s words of appreciation. In her mind, saving Julian was never the goal. She just wanted the wolf beast. Julian was just lucky enough to still be alive by the time they dispatched of it.

Julian was slightly stunned when he heard her response. None of his peers had ever dared to talk to him this way before. Even those two, Wyatt and Clara, couldn’t speak to him like this. He had always been the one looking down on others, never the other way around.

However, there was nothing he could do. The one in front of him now far surpassed him in both power and authority. A bitter feeling welled up in his heart as he began looking for someone to blame for his current situation.

And of course, that person was the mysterious Foundation Establishment realm cultivator. If it weren’t for him, he wouldn’t be in this situation, bowing his head to a girl who was even younger than him.

’Damn it, I’m going to make that bastard pay.’ He wanted to continue cursing in his mind, but he knew he couldn’t keep the woman in front of him waiting.

He suddenly had an idea, and a cruel grin formed on his lips. Luckily, his head was down, so Bella couldn’t see it. He quickly composed himself before quickly responding

"My team and I were hunting down beasts as part of a mission from our sect. However, we encountered a lone cultivator. He was in a dire state, so as righteous cultivators that we are, we decided to help him.

We saved his life, but who knew that he was not a good person? The whole thing was actually a plot to kill all of us.

As soon as we saved his life, we were attacked by the wolf that had been hiding that whole time. All my teammates sacrificed themselves to make sure I escaped, but it was ultimately futile."

This time, his voice sounded choked, as if he was holding back tears. Anyone who didn’t know him would believe that he was actually sad about the death of his teammates. He was a very good actor and played the role convincingly.

The expressions on the faces of some of the members had already softened a bit towards Julian. While it was only a small gesture, it showed the

His words were making the expected impact.

However, Bella didn’t react and simply waited for him to continue his story. Seeing this, Julian didn’t waste time and continued his performance.

"I thought I was also going to die. I didn’t expect that I would be saved by the Young Mistress at the very last moment. Thank you, once again." He said as he bowed his head even lower this time.

The area fell into silence as Bella began pondering the words that Julian had just told her. She obviously didn’t believe everything Julian had said to her. Righteous cultivators? Hmph! As if such flowery words could deceive her.

However, there had to be some truth to his words. One of her eyebrows cocked upwards as she asked "You say that the wolf only attacked you and your team.

What about that mysterious cultivator? Did it kill him as well?" She asked.

"No, Lady Vyre. In fact, it was the opposite. It completely ignored him and only chased us down. As if... as if it was being controlled." He said that last part in a low voice, almost a whisper.

However, both Bella and Elder Glenda were still able to hear him. Now their interests had been piqued. Someone capable of controlling a rank 5 beast was certainly not ordinary. She wondered how strong this individual was.

"How strong was this mysterious cultivator?" Bella asked, a hint of intrigue in her voice. Julian hesitated before answering, wondering whether to tell the truth or to garnish his strength a bit. After all, it was quite embarrassing to be tricked by a Foundation Establishment realm cultivator.

Under normal circumstances, he would never admit it, but this time, he realised he had no choice. If he wanted to gain their help in finding him, he had to be honest with them. Especially when he didn’t know what the mysterious cultivator looked like.
