The Top Fishing Master
Chapter 866 - 358: Capturing Salmon_2
CHAPTER 866: CHAPTER 358: CAPTURING SALMON_2
When they parked the tricycle and walked to the vicinity of the little waterfall, they saw two big gray bears with a little gray bear standing atop the waterfall, waiting for the salmon struggling upstream.
Evidently, the gray bears shared Lin Yang’s perspective; they weren’t interested in salmon lacking stamina.
The two big gray bears were faring well; with their strong and powerful bodies, whenever a salmon leapt out of the water against the waterfall, they could often slap it onto the shore and feast.
However, the little gray bear wasn’t as capable; when the salmon broke through the surface, before it had time to react, the salmon would jump over the little gray bear, fall back into the water, and continue swimming forward.
Salmon that could overcome such a small waterfall surely had their sights set beyond; further places were their ultimate goal.
The little gray bear, unable to catch any fish, cried out in frustration.
Despite this, it didn’t spare a glance for the salmon carcasses drifting from upstream, having sniffed them before, they reeked too much to consider eating.
There were plenty of fresh fish surging up the waterfall; it wasn’t interested in the stinky ones.
Clearly, the little gray bear overestimated its abilities; it couldn’t catch a single salmon jumping from the base of the waterfall.
Its eyes darting around, the little gray bear watched as the big gray bear once again smacked a salmon onto the shore. After some hesitation, it stopped standing still, waiting for the salmon.
Instead, it ran towards the direction where the big gray bear had knocked the salmon, whimpering pathetically as it ran.
Trying to invoke the big gray bear’s sympathy to get a share of the salmon.
Perhaps recognizing the little gray bear’s previous efforts, the big gray bear offered it a small piece of salmon, barely enough for a single bite.
The rest was quickly devoured by the big gray bear.
The little gray bear wailed again in disappointment.
The big gray bear was evidently not planning to let the little gray bear acquire food easily, beginning to train it to rely on its own abilities.
However, having savored the salmon meat, the little gray bear perked up again, running into the cold river water, ready to try capturing a salmon once more.
To its credit, this time it did manage to encounter a salmon bursting out of the water, but due to a lack of strength, unlike the big gray bear, it couldn’t slap the salmon onto the shore.
Instead, it knocked it into the water near the shore, and the salmon flipped over, swimming forward as if nothing happened.
The little gray bear stomped its foot in frustration.
Having experienced this failure, the little gray bear reconsidered and adjusted its position, no longer standing in the busiest spot for fish.
Instead, it moved a bit to the side.
There were fewer fish leaping out here, but it was closer to the shore; with some patience, it would eventually catch its own salmon.
Heaven rewards the diligent bear; after several failures, the little gray bear finally slapped a salmon onto the shore, allowing itself a feast.
A salmon that the big gray bears could devour in a few bites completely filled the little gray bear.
The two big gray bears had long been full, merely watching the little gray bear play around. Once the little gray bear had eaten its fill by itself, the two larger and the smaller gray bear headed into the depths of the forest.
Watching all of this quietly, Lin Yang and the others also arrived at the waterfall.
They avoided the three gray bears mainly to prevent any conflicts.
There’s an old saying: one pig, two bears, three tigers, which refers to the ranking of wild animals in terms of threat to humans.
This phrase is quite straightforward, basically describing the threat level of these three animals to people.
Pigs give people the impression of being greedy and lazy, eating and sleeping, then growing to a certain size before being slaughtered and served on human tables.
However, the "pig" in this phrase refers to wild boars, not the domestic pigs raised by farmers.
Wild boars are highly aggressive and are quite fierce wild animals. In extreme conditions and environments, wild boars are commonly seen, and rural areas near forests often suffer from wild boar damage.
Among these three animals, wild boars have the largest impact and aggression towards humans.
These wild boars tend to be social animals, with few natural predators other than large beasts, weighing up to 500 pounds or more.
Such sizable wild boars can cause even hunters headaches, with very tough bristles, and many males scrape against hard rocks, forming a tough protective layer on their skin.
Additionally, they can grow sharp tusks, using them to attack and bite when threatened.
Next are bears and tigers, though these two animals mostly appear deep in the mountains and forests, and their numbers are far less than that of wild boars.
So overall, among these three animals, wild boars pose a greater threat to humans.
The three gray bears at the waterfall clearly fall into the bear category.
Even though they were full, one could never be sure if they might, after feasting, whimsically decide to "play" with humans.
Once the three gray bears had disappeared into the depths of the forest, Lin Yang and the others also made their way to the top of the waterfall.
Standing by the shore, the three mimicked the little gray bear, waiting for the salmon to surge up the waterfall.
