The Tyrant's Stolen Bride
Chapter 85: A Night at the Skyview
CHAPTER 85: A NIGHT AT THE SKYVIEW
Camela lay sprawled across the bed, her face sunken from the pregnancy. She kept throwing up and couldn’t keep any food down.
She hated being pregnant like this, but it was part of her agreement with Dante.
A knock sounded at the door, and Dante pushed it open halfway.
"Still nauseous?"
Camela mumbled something he couldn’t understand.
He stayed by the doorway, knowing she couldn’t handle anyone getting too close, even him.
He had tried to convince her to go to the hospital, but she refused. The last visit had traumatized her after she vomited the entire time.
"There’ll be another doctor coming to check on you later."
Camela lifted her pale hand to give him a weak thumbs-up, but it slipped back onto the bed almost immediately.
...
The next day went smoothly at first. Rowan had already picked an exclusive place for their dinner date.
But when his meeting ran longer than expected, Kane had to pick Lyra up from the hospital and bring her to the office.
It was her first time there, but the moment she stepped into the lobby, the staff members straightened and bowed respectfully, recognizing her right away.
Kane’s presence alone made it clear that she was the CEO’s wife.
"Kane..." Lyra tugged at his sleeve, pulling him back just before he entered the meeting room.
She stretched her neck to peek inside. There were so many people.
How was she supposed to walk in like it was nothing? She wasn’t part of the company.
The thought alone embarrassed her.
"I’ll wait out here."
She pointing at an empty chair outside the meeting room.
"I can’t let you wait here. He wants you inside."
Kane scratched the back of his head, helplessly stuck between Lyra saying no and Rowan expecting him to bring her in.
"You go in. I’m staying right here. Go, hurry."
She shooed him toward the door and sat down.
But the moment Kane walked in alone, Rowan stepped out through the same door.
"Lyra, this meeting’s going to run a little longer. I don’t want you sitting out here by yourself. Come in with me. It’s okay," he said, clearly using his authority.
He took her hand and led her inside, and her cheeks warmed the moment she sat beside him at the head of the table.
With no other choice, Lyra pretended to follow whatever they were discussing.
But after a few minutes of listening to their presentation, her head started spinning.
The graphs rose and dipped like roller-coaster tracks in green and red, and the decimal points were crammed into tiny boxes on the spreadsheet.
Just looking at them made her stomach flip like she might actually throw up.
Lyra turned her head to the side, doing everything she could to avoid looking at the screen.
She spotted a blank sheet of paper and a pencil near Damian, so she quietly asked for them.
And she started sketching just to pass the time and distract herself. She drew an anatomy diagram and labeled every part like she was back in medical school.
While she was focused on her drawing, she heard Rowan chuckle, his warm breath brushing against the tip of her ear. She ignored him, because he always laughed at her like that.
Then his fingers lightly tugged her hair.
"You look like a little girl waiting for her dad to finish work," he murmured.
The staff in the meeting room couldn’t help getting distracted. It was the first time they had ever seen their boss smile with that kind of warmth.
After the meeting ended, the staff lined up to shake Lyra’s hand. Thanks to her presence, all their reports were approved without any major changes.
They even told her to come again next time. To them, she was their savior.
...
They had arrived a little late and were guided to the private elevator up to the luxurious rooftop hotel suite.
Another team of staff was already waiting for them and bowed the moment they stepped out of the lift.
There was an indoor room, but half of the suite was open air. The dinner was set up in a rooftop garden.
Lyra couldn’t hide her surprise because it offered a breathtaking view of the city at night.
She took a short walk around the suite, impressed by the beautiful decorations. The lights were dimmed to create a romantic atmosphere.
Rowan came up behind her, leaning in as he spoke softly. "Do you like it?"
"Yes."
Her eyes drifted toward the pool. "Are we going swimming?"
"If you want. Let’s do it after dinner."
He gently took her hand and guided her to the table.
The staff began serving their dinner before quietly stepping away. They waited at a respectful distance, out of the couple’s view.
Lyra changed her mind after her stomach was full. She no longer wanted to swim and asked Rowan if they could go home because she was sleepy.
"We’re staying here tonight," he said. "Go wash up first."
"But... clothes?" Lyra confused. They had come with nothing but what they were wearing.
"In the closet. Meredith packed this morning and Damian brought everything here."
She realized he was very good at planning and said nothing more. She hurried to wash up so she could sleep.
After her shower, she slipped into the robe, and she was surprised to see Rowan in the pool.
She walked over to the edge. "You’re swimming without me?" she pouted.
Rowan chuckled and climbed out of the pool. "I thought you changed your mind."
He pinched her cheek and headed to the shower inside.
By the time he finished, the room was already dim, and she was sprawled across the bed.
He didn’t care. There would be no rest for her tonight. He climbed onto the bed, fingers brushing the tie of her robe before sliding it down.
Lyra shifted in her sleep, a soft breath escaping her lips when Rowan started nibbling at her neck.
"Lyra... wake up," he murmured.
She only stirred, lost in a fantasy dream, drifting through the warm, steamy pool.
A voice called her name, but the heat and comfort of the water held her in place. She arched and stretched her body with every movement.
Something beneath the water brushed her, sending a shiver through her and gently easing her legs apart.
Her eyes fluttered open when she felt something between her thighs.
"Awake...?" he breathed.
"Mmm..." Lyra was about to complain that Rowan had disturbed her sleep, but his touch made her want more.
She put her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, and Rowan leaned forward to kiss her.
Her breath hitched as he began to enter her, a soft cry escaping her lips while he moved slowly at first.
After a moment, he lifted her leg onto his shoulder, entering fully, making her arch as her cries grew louder.
His pace quickened, and a deep groan escaped him as he finally let go.
After several rounds of their intimate moments, Lyra curled into a deep sleep, her head resting against his bare chest, which was moving with heavy breathing.
