CHAPTER 258: MOTHER

Aira headed back downstairs with a sober expression on her face. Her sister was clearly not well and was she was acting much colder than she should.

Rymora sat downstairs waiting getting up the second Aira got to the gound floor where the Butler was already silently waiting.

Aira didn’t have to say a word before Rymora instantly moved to follow her out of the house and towards their carriage.

It wasn’t until they settled in and the carriage began to move that finally, Rymoraa opened her mouth to speak.

"You look worried! Is everything well?" she asked even as Aira responded with a long but deep sigh as she moved her head over to the window staring outside as the carriage rumbled away.

Liora’s problem was one thing she couldn’t discuss with Rymora as she responded, "She’s fine! She’s just a bit under the weather!" Aira said and Rymora nodded her head as she also focused her gaze out the small window of the carriage.

Preending not to smell the strong smell of blood that clung to Aira’s robes even now as she sat in her seat.

Rymora didn’t much care for Liora so she couldn’t even bring herself to care much about her as she continued to gently nod her head without doing anything else.

The carriage rode as fast as it could as it headed back to the castle even as silence settled amidst of Aira and Rymora each of whom were lost in their thoughts.

Rymora had just noticed that they were almost back at the castle when she whispered for Aira to stop at an inn to eat. A request that Aira found weird until she recalled the task that she had asked Rymora to.

Regarding ensuring that she didn’t get pregnant.

’Of course it would be better if I didn’t take such things in the castle!’ she thought to herself even as she rested back and watched Rymora ask the driver to change directions to a different but luxerious inn.

The carriage parked and they both got down with their hoods up even as the guards which had been following them in another carriage also did the same spreading around the inn like a blanket.

The had barely entered when a young man instantly moved closer to speak to them directing them straight upstairs after taking a look at the carriage and the guards around them.

Aira and Rymora settled at a table asking for tea and light food when Rymora dug into her robes and brought out a bundle which she passed over to Aira.

"You have to take it once!" Rymora informed her. "I was told that even if one was already pregnant then the baby wouldn’t live!" she whispered her voice exceedingly low even as Aira took the small cloth bundle opening it to see a small round black ball in it.

Rymora went ahead to show hers too which she took and threw into her mouth with no hesitation whatsoever. Aware that her situation was much worse.

Unable to fathom having a vampire child growing in her belly. The consequences it would have to her herself would be severe.

Aira didn’t hesitate as she went ahead doing the same thing Rymora did relieved as she picked up her cup and drank some tea to wash off the bitter taste of it from her tongue.

"It tastes worse than I thought" Rymora pointed out with a giggle even as she also hurriedly took more gulps of her teeth to which Aira fully nodded.

Looking out from the inn while wondering when was the last time she took some time out to actually take a break. Realizing that the thought hadn’t even crossed since the problems with Zygons and monsters began.

Aira only relaxed even more when their food was brought to their table and slowly they began to eat it. Each of them marveling at the food in their own way as they wolfed it down.

Aira especially surprised that she could relax even though the sun had set and the stars could be seen in the sky without any fear of being attacked.

"We’ll have to get going to the castle soon!" Rymora sighed but Aira simply rolled her eyes with a smile that said that she was not in a rush wondering why Rymora seemed to be in one.

"You miss your lover?" Aira teased not having missed the fact that Rymora also swallowed the pill which made it clear that she was having sex.

"By tomorrow you’ll be needing another one!" she teased even as Rymora mock glared her way.

"The pill works for the entire month! We’ll be fine!" she responded annoyed at the thought of having to take it over and over again.

"Who is he anyways?" Aira asked with a curious expression on her face expecting Rymora to instantly tell her only to be taken aback to see Rymora’s gaze drop right down to her shoe.

’Wow! That bad!’ she wondered knowing she would have instantly assumed it was Zyren if not that he was the kind of person that so much as hated to be touched unless he was doing the touching.

Something he only seemed to enjoy when she did.

Rymora didn’t answer and Aira instantly dropped the topic intent on moving to a completely different one when suddenly her attention shifted to two newcomers who were walking up the stairs.

The food was nice and the calm on the upper floor of the inn was even nicer with private tables that had muslin wrap over head to give each customer some privacy obstructing them from others while obstructing others from them.

Aira noticed the man and woman and would have shifted her gaze never to look again until she noticed the slave collar on the neck of the woman something that stood out because it was covered in gems.

But what annoyed her was the runes that covered it making it clear that it was the kind that came with harsh punishments if the slave disobeyed or displeased their master.

Curious she had stared longer, eyes sliding down the body of the woman unable to see her face unless she shifted away the transparent white muslin that was draped over them in a square overhead structure.

But she didn’t have to as one of the hosts in the inn led them to a table only for the man to point at one much closer to them in their row, with them changing directions and heading towards them.

The man was a vampire that much was obvious to see but it wasn’t until the woman passed beside her table that her mouth fell open in blatant shock as she gasped out under herr breath.

"Mother!"
