The Vampire King's Pet
Chapter 259: Duke Dangrey
CHAPTER 259: DUKE DANGREY
Her butt lifting right out of her seat before she was fully aware of what was happening. It was hard to imagine.
Yes, she had presumed to have seen her mother at the arena on the far side of the audience, the distance enough for her to think she had imagined it but now clearly she hadn’t.
Pushing back the white drapes as she stared down at the people who were heading down to their table as shown by the host following them.
"Aira?" Rymora called also getting up from her feet trying to figure out why Aira would suddnely act out of character staring intensely at the people that had just passed by their table.
Still staring almost like she was waiting for them to turn around but thankfully neither of them had to wait long especially Aira whose mouth dropped open wider than before when the woman beside him in a long but transparent white gown that showed her body with a slave collar turned to the side.
Showing a face that clearly belonged to her mother. Her hair was brown and completely unlike her and her sisters reddish tint. She had a look of worship on her face as she stared expectantly at the vampire who stood beside her with his hand around her waist.
Aira could no longer stand and watch as she suddenly began to move towards them even as the host showed them to their seat.
Watching her mother serve the man who accepted her service like the norm. Worse instead of sitting opposite him she sat right on his laps in a way that made her gown ride up baring her legs for all to see.
He treated her mother like a possession and that rose up an ember of anger deep in her belly as she strode there up to them just as the host headed off after getting their orders.
Aira had reached them in a blink of an eye even as she began to speak before she was standing right in front of them calling her mother’s name.
"Selira" she called relieved to see her mother answer, a flash of recognition in her eyes and joy right before her expression dulled lowering her face the next instant in a servitude manner.
The vampire turning his head to look right at her even as Aria glared down at him taking one look at the insignia he wore and realizing that the man actually held a noble title.
"Excuse me!" he said in a cold tone and an arrogant expression just before his eyes landed on Aria’s face for a moment.
Nodding his head at her when their eyes met before a smile spread across his face.
"Ahh! Its the king’s pet!" he exclaimed in a much louder tone than Aria would have liked but there was nothing she could do about it hating how they instantly got more attention directed at them.
"Is there a reason you’ve come to meet little old me?" he asked and instead of speaking and demanding he hand over her mother like she had intended.
Aria decided to do so at a more private place about to turn and leave when she suddenly heard her mother speak in a tone just as loud.
"Sh-she’s my daughter my lord! I-I’m sure she just wanted to see me!" her voice trembling as she spoke in a way that showed that she was scared of the master she was sitting on.
Aria flinched as she heard people in different parts of the upper floor take collective shocking breaths in a way that made it clear that they would be the topic of high society gossip by morning.
What was even more amazing for Aria was the fact that her mother seemed to not have aged a day and seemed to have even grown younger over time instead.
"A-aria you should..." but she was still speaking when the man she sat on and referred to as master spoke.
"REALLY?" enunciating the words in a dramatic way with a smirk on his lips looking from Aria to her mother as he spoke. "...I see the resemblance. What a small world!" he sighed but in a manner that sounded more from delight than anything else.
This infuriated Aria who did her best to keep a lid on her anger something she knew she was failing at as she heard the man continue to speak.
"I’ve had your mother for a while. She was a little spit fire at fire but now she’s much better don’t you think!" he said sliding his hands in between her thighs even as he looked at Aira smiling in a way that bared his fangs almost like a threat.
His voice still loud in a way that made everyone hear every single word he said without him having to strain his voice.
Finally Aira had heard enough as she went ahead to ask him one thing she needed to know about him.
"May I know your name?" She asked even as he bursted into loud laughter just before he spoke again saying things that not only grated on her nerves but made her want to cut a hole in his chest.
"What? Are you going to make the king make me give up my slave?"
"My name is Duke Dangrey!" His voice still extremely loud and whinny to the ears.
"Do your worst!" He said getting on his feet as he stared fiercely at her like someone that had been wounded before turning around to leave dragging Selira, Aria’s mother with him even as she turned to look longingly at Aria with tears in her eyes.
Making it clear that the last thing she wanted to do was actually leave.
Rumors stood beside Aira but she didn’t my speak aware of the many eyes on them even as the both of them easily made their way out of the inn and towards their carriage.
Just in time to see Duke Dangrey get into his with a smirk on his lips as he jumped in and the carriage drove away.
Aira stood beside her own carriage with Rymora right beside her when she opened her mouth and spoke her voice filled with conviction.
"I’m make him regret what he just did!" his intentions clear with how he had gone out of his way to raise his voice for all to hear.
Rymora simply nodded without speaking even as they got into the carriage and the carriage began to drive towards their castle.
But the anger deep inside Aira’s eyes didn’t elevate. It only got much worse aware that he had been mocking her with a gaze that said she was powerless and could do nothing to him.
Even less with the public now aware of it and in support of him.
’It was the law that vampires had a right to own slaves! And once owned they could only be free when the master no longer wanted them and not a second before!’
The more she thought about the more angry she was. She was well aware that anger was clouding her judgement but she didn’t care.
All she wanted was to set her mother free and make the duke rue the day he decided to mess with her.
