Chapter 106
However, it seemed too early to draw conclusions based on Eiren’s words alone.
“Engaging in conversation is a sign of interest, you know,” I pointed out.@@novelbin@@
“Our conversations were more like academic debates than anything personal,” Eiren replied.
“That could have been love for Lady Werna,” I suggested.
“…Even though she didn’t stop me when I left?” Eiren let out a disbelieving laugh.
The disappointment in his voice made it clear that a part of him had wished Werna would have held him back.
‘Did Lady Werna only realize her feelings later on?’
The more I thought about their relationship, the more confusing it became.
As I frowned from the mental strain, Eiren shrugged.
“Anyway, that’s the whole story. The tea set Bella has was a gift from Lady Werna when I left.”
“Why did you leave something so precious with Bella?”
It seemed odd that something so important to him wasn’t kept in his home.
“…Because the more I saw it, the more it reminded me of her,” Eiren mumbled quietly.
“…Why did you leave, then?”
“I heard what was going to happen here…” Eiren turned his head sharply to face me. Under the moonlight, his face looked cool, almost detached. The emptiness in his gaze reminded me of the despair I had seen in him before.
“We are people who can never be together,” he said, his voice barely a whisper.
