When Marceau visited the Ephecle estate, the first thing she did was inform Eiren that Werna had come with her. It was to give him time to prepare himself for the unexpected visitor.

Though caught off guard, Eiren quickly composed himself. He decided to take this as an opportunity to understand Werna's intentions.

‘...Calm down.’

Werna had always been someone who never revealed her true feelings. Though she seemed carefree, Eiren knew well how diligently she fulfilled her duties and roles. That was why he had been the one to let go first. And Werna hadn’t tried to hold him back either, for the same reason.

Though their parting had been logical, it left behind bitter memories. To others, it might have seemed like he had abandoned her. Eiren hated that part of himself, the part that still harbored hope for something with Werna.

He took a deep breath and reached for the door handle. Upon entering, Werna’s eyes lit up the moment she saw him.

"Eiren!" she called out, her voice unhesitant and familiar.@@novelbin@@

"Lady Werna," Eiren responded, calm and composed. He bowed politely, maintaining his distance.

Werna raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms.

"What happened to the Eiren who used to speak to me so informally? Now you're all proper and polite."
