The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband
Chapter 446: Darkness doesn’t mix with light
CHAPTER 446: DARKNESS DOESN’T MIX WITH LIGHT
The scholar led her into the inner chambers of the library. The air felt different and smelled like old aged paper with a mix of something Abrielle could not identify.
"I guess you have heard about the rumours about the first prince of Draconia." The scholar mentioned. Abrielle’s stomach churned but she kept a straight face. The scholar thought she was interested in curses because of the Rumours.
"Do you think what they say is true? " She asked him. The scholar’s mind drifted. "It is hard to say, all I can say is that there is more to this world than meets the eye. The same way the gods exist, the same way the darkness does, but I find it hard that the first prince of Draconia is a demon."
Abrielle’s curiosity was piqued; she was hungry for any knowledge. "Why do you think so?" She asked, catching up to his side. The scholar’s hand was crossed behind his back
"Have you heard the story about when the gods came to live amongst us? " Abrielle shook her head. She has heard about it in a fleeting moment of gossip among scholars at the palace during balls. She never really paid attention to it.
"That’s an important story. It is the story of how magic came to this world at a dangerous cost and why nobles and royals have powerful abilities compared to commoners."
The scholar spoke and started explaining the backstory of this world that Abrielle was unaware of. According to him, long ago, there was a time when magic as they knew it did not exist. Life was plain and boring until it changed one day.
Being beyond their comprehension came to the world. It was during a plague that had taken so many lives that most scholars considered it the end of the world. The people had cried mercy to the gods who heard them.
No god of healing could help but higher beings heard their prayers. At that time, there was no large Kingdom like Heliosa or Draconia, just smaller ones that fought continuously in a world filled with danger and pain.
.
Two gods came down to help, and with their intellect and strength, the plague was stopped. They taught about magic and things beyond reason. In the process, they shared the gift of magic.
These gods were never together but some said they were brothers. The details were not clear as it was a lore from an ancient time, but it is said that the most powerful nobles are the descendants of the followers of these gods.
It was said the gods had children, and their descendants ended up being the founders of the greatest nation and empire. Draconia and Heliosa.
"It is hard to imagine the first prince of Draconia, a descendant of the god of strength, to be a demon. Unlike the gods, demons come from another realm, the same realm from which sorcery comes. Darkness and light don’t mix." They stopped moving
"We are here. I hope you find your answers." The scholar said. He gave Abrielle a lingering look before leaving.
Maximus, the god of strength, the dragon from whom the Von Drakkar family is rumoured to have descended, and Cassius, the god of wisdom. He is rumoured to be Maximus’ elder brother and the founder of Heliosa. The lore is similar to the one believing the Nightshade family descends from Nyxoria the goddess of the moon.
There is also Maledicta, the goddess of dark magic and witchcraft, Nyxoria’s sister. Was this related to the Gods?
Time went by and night slowly approached. Abrielle was so engrossed in finding answers that she forgot about hunger. Page after page, she didn’t find anything relating to Cedric or his marks. There were things related to lore that the scholar told her about, but no answer.
A sharp groan left her lips, and she closed an old book in annoyance. "This isn’t working." She groaned.
"Maybe what you are searching for isn’t on the pages." She heard someone mention. Abrielle’s eyes snapped to the source of the voice. "Yuki," she gasped. He wasn’t there a moment ago. It was like he appeared out of thin air.
Yuki smiled, his purple eyes sparkled. "You look like you have been through a lot. My guess is that Cedric is dying," Yuki mentioned. He was seated across her table, staring at her like he always did, as a cat at some interesting show.
"He has indeed gotten worse." She sighed. Abrielle has questions, but she doesn’t know where to start.
"You look like you have a lot of questions." He chuckled.
It felt weird seeing another man with similar ungodly charms like Cedric. If the gods truly existed she was certain Yuki was one. He had this mysterious air around him. He was gentle on the surface, but his eyes spoke of danger, while Yuki looked like nothing could harm him..
"Of course I will have questions why my cat is a man that can teleport and knock out someone rumoured to be as strong as demons." Abrielle sneered. Yuki didn’t answer her, he stood up and walked towards her seat. His eyes fell on the book she was reading. After flipping some pages he closed it
"I can’t answer your questions but I will help you with another hint. You don’t have to be scared. I have no intentions of harming my lovely owner. You took good care of me as a cat, unlike your annoying husband." Yuki’s lips pursed into a thin line.
"See the emperor. Find a way to meet him. Cedric doesn’t have much time left." Yuki added. "Why do I need to see the emperor?" Abrielle asked, glancing at the spot where Yuki was standing, but he was gone.
Instead, her eyes fell on Aurelius, the crown prince, who looked puzzled. "Who were you talking to?" Aurelius asked her. Her lips parted and closed. She wasn’t sure she could talk about Yuki to others.
"I was thinking out loud." She lied, Aurelius didn’t look convinced. He didn’t push her further, either. He walked towards her table. He was curious about what she was reading. "You were reading about curses." he chuckled.
"Even if someone knew about Cedric’s condition, it wouldn’t be here but in the royal library. To access that you need the emperor’s permission. " Aurelius explained. Abrielle’s eyes went wide. Was that the reason Yuki told her to meet the emperor?
Aurelius felt something was off. Someone was here before ."Let’s leave. It’s late, you haven’t eaten a thing, and I heard they found the one you wanted already." He gave her his hand, which she accepted, and they left the library.
