CHAPTER 519: IS LOVE ENOUGH ?

"Is that all it takes?" Cedric asked, What was pride to him now?

"Maybe." Raziel chimed.

Cedric smirked then turned around. To Raziel’s astonishment, the proud prince of Draconia knelt before him without thinking twice. "Do you want me to kiss your feet?" Cedric taunted. Staring straight at those mismatched eyes.

Raziel smirked, he wasn’t expecting Cedric to actually kneel. "If I ask that your mother would likely cut off my head. " Raziel said with a grim look.

His eyes narrowed on Cedric; that sharp gaze made the first prince feel unsettled. "Why are you so desperate to go back?" He asked. Cedric was taken aback for a moment. He wasn’t expecting this question but that didn’t mean he didn’t have an answer.

His expression softened. "I have to get back to her before it is too late." He answered. ..

He wasn’t desperate for the throne; all that mattered was her.

Raziel scoffed, "A human," he said. His tone made Cedric feel rather uncomfortable. Like there was more to it he didn’t know

"She is my wife," he emphasised.

"I know," Raziel paused then added. "The same one who tried to kill you." Cedric’s head bobbed up, meeting Raziel’s smirk. How did he know? Raziel’s face was hard to read. He masked his intention perfectly well

"I love her," Cedric emphasised. Raziel squatted in front of him. Cedric’s eyes were calm and back to gold. Those eyes met Raziel mismatched ruby and violet orbs

"Is love enough?" He questioned Cedric. The first prince of Darconia’s eyes dulled. He knew love wasn’t enough. He was ready to risk it for her even though he wasn’t certain of her feelings.

If she truly loved him, or only stood by him because of an obligation to return the favour after he had saved her life. "It is the most important thing," Cedric replied.

Raziel sighed, his mind drifted off to memories. He knew how much Cedric’s wife meant to him. He could see it in his eyes. "When you get back to her, what’s next?"

"She is mortal even if she is from the Caephyr’s blood and can slow down her ageing. She won’t live long, and your blood is too pure, Cedric." Raziel wanted him to know the odds on the ground. So that he won’t blindly chase a fantasy.

Cedric’s brows furrowed, "What do you mean by my blood is too pure?" He asked. He was part human, there should not be an issue with Abrielle and him. After all, his earliest ancestors were half-gods, too.

Raziel’s gaze flickered, "You already come from the Von Drakkar family, who have ancient ancestry related to the gods, although it is not pure anymore, then your mother is the queen of Netheralis. A direct descendant of the first ruler of the underworld."

Raziel’s explanation puzzled him. He didn’t know how those odds truly affected him. "I don’t know the exact reason, but I am sure you realise it. You are not so different from my sons, your divine heritage is very strong, and there will be a chance you might be immortal. Your wife might die before you."

Cedric was taken aback, no matter how powerful the Caephyr’s family blood was. They weren’t immortal. All mortal beings would eventually grow old. Their bloodline only prolonged their life with magic, and if what Raziel says is true, Cedric might have inherited more from his mother than his father.

Was it possible that a half-bred was immortal? He had a feeling there was more to this than what Raziel was saying. "Even if she dies first, I will cherish whatever time we have together, and if life without her is truly unbearable, a demon can also die." Cedric resolutely said.

"You must truly love her," Raziel muttered. He felt bad for how much Cedric loved a mortal. It was never going to end well. Did she love him the same way he did?

Why was he even worried as if he were his son? Raziel was taken aback by his own thoughts.

"I do, more than I give credit for it." He admitted. The air suddenly grew cold with the wind blowing lightly between them. "That means you are ready to burn Draconia for her," Raziel mentioned, leaving Cedric bewildered, but if it came to that, he would.

Raziel read his resoluteness from his gaze. "She has no place in Netheralis. A mortal coming here would shorten their life and eventually kill them."

Cedric never had any intention of bringing Abrielle to a place like this but he had a feeling. Raziel had something more to say but was holding back.

"Stand up," Raziel instructed, then walked towards the centre of the courtyard before he turned to face Cedric again. His gaze was calm and calculated.

Cedric stood up then matched his eyes with Raziel. His long hair fluttered with the wind. Raziel was truly surprised by how much Cedric looked like Elysia. He took too much from his mother, which was not necessarily a good thing.

Cedric’s life revolved around the mortal realm, and Raziel was certain he would not be able to integrate into their own world properly.

He wasn’t Cedric’s father to tell him all these things and he knew Elysia was too scared of telling Cedric the simple truth that he might be bound to this hellish place.

Even if he reunites with his beloved, it would be for a short time. Elysia had to bring him here to save his life, but in exchange, it unsealed Cedric’s other side completely and made him carry the same curse.

The more powerful he gets, the harder it will be for him to stay in the mortal realm. His existence there would shake the balance of things. Unless he had perfect control.

"I want you to attack me without your sword and don’t hold back. Fight like your life depends on it." Raziel instructed Cedric. Cedric knew he didn’t stand a chance against Raziel, but still listened to his words and tossed his swords aside.

Raziel’s mismatched eyes glowed, and a golden flame circled around him. Cedric could sense it. Something he never understood, Raziel had a strong aura but his aura wasn’t dark like Elysia and his brothers. It felt like he didn’t belong here
