CHAPTER 538: SHE LOVE HIM

She loved him. It was the first time she admitted it out loud. Her heart was pounding. Her voice shook but it was the truth..

Those were the words which felt heavy for her to say, and she admitted it, though the first time to the wrong person.

"He might grieve if you leave him, but the pain would be less compared to what lies ahead if this continues." She stepped away, and Abrielle’s eyes followed her, watching her walk to the end of the balcony.

"If you love him as you claim you will want his happiness. His true happiness doesn’t lie with you." She paused. The silence grew between them

Both still have a lot to say. "Cedric might be sad at first, but when he finds his true soul mate, he will be able to smile again." She faded into your darkness with her last words heavy on Abrielle’s heart.

Soul mate, those words stayed with her. What did she mean?

His mother claimed to be. His mother didn’t even divulge her name..she probably didn’t hold her in high regard to share something so simple.

Abrielle stood in the snow, her mind sang in her thoughts. Replaying the entire conversation which only left her with more questions than answers.

He was fated to be happy with someone else. Was that what she meant? "Cedric," his name slipped out into the snow. Her breath formed mist due to the temperature drop.

She stood under the light show completely lost in her thoughts, the frost started to bite but the cold didn’t bother her

It was nothing compared to the heavy feeling in her heart. Her hand gripped the balcony’s stone rails, hard and firm her knuckles turned red ..

He was hiding something from her. Was that why he hid at first?

Her back straightened up, his warm intoxicating scent and presence wrapped around her. Cedric placed a heavy coat on her before his arms wrapped around her hugging her from behind.

"It’s cold, you should not be out here." He muttered, his soft tone carrying genuine concern. "Where were you?" She asked him.

Cedric crooked his head, burying it in her neck out of habit, inhaling her subtle scent lingering in her hair. His voice came out rough and restrained. "I went out for a short walk to clear my mind." He admitted.

It was pretty hard just lying by her side watching her sleep, restraining himself from touching her. He needed to clear his head and think about this entire situation.

To hide his worry from her. "Someone was here." She mentioned. She felt him stiffen. Abrielle’s eyes dulled; she was right, he was hiding something.

Cedric sensed it earlier, the presence was almost faded but he could not detect who it was. Her lonely back under the snow struck something. He knew something was wrong and had a bad feeling about it.

He bubbled down everything, and she was fine. He had to play it cool to get his answers. "Who was it?" He asked, his emotions slipping from his control..

Abrielle crossed her hands, holding onto the coat. "It was a lady I could mistake for your sister due to the eerie resemblance and how young she looked but she claims to be your mother. The one who we all thought was dead."

She felt his muscles tense, his hold getting a bit tight.

For the first time, she felt fear rolling off him like heat, and it chilled her worse than the snow

Then it dawned on her, the visitor, his mother wasn’t lying. There was more truth in her words. There was more to what meets the eye.

She bit her lips, she didn’t want her emotions ruling over her. Her voice came out soft and controlled. But the tone and her words tugged his heartstrings.

"Can you let go?" Those words were polite on the surface. It meant more. Cedric did the exact opposite. He held her closer, his breath became ragged. She felt his warm heavy breath trickling on her skin.

"What did she say?" He asked, "Did she_"

Abrielle stirred in his hold. His voice was still calm in contrast to his almost panicking tone. His heartbeat was almost racing loudly next to her ears. Her reply came out, cutting him off. "She said what you are scared to say. That is, if she is telling the truth."

"You don’t have to worry about whatever she says. I can fix it." Instead of giving an explanation, he was trying to avoid the topic. Her bubbling emotions erupted with her fury

She jerked out of his hold burning with her flames. "Don’t tell me that." She barked and then stormed away into the room. Cedric stood stunned at first, watching the burns on his skin which healed quickly.

His fist clenched, a sharp hiss left his lips. He followed right after her. Cedric’s heart was deeply hurt by how desperate she was to get out of his arms. It burned more than the flames burned..

What did Elysia say? She never mentioned anything about Abrielle. So he never thought she would approach Abrielle.

He stepped inside the room and his eyes instinctively found her first. She was sitting on a carpet next to the fireplace just staring at the flames.

"I’m sorry, but I can explain. There is no need to worry about what she said." Abrielle felt his presence, pulsating and restrained behind her.

His emotions were heavy but it wasn’t as heavy as her heart. The flames flickered dancing around. "Then explain everything." She answered. Her tone is calm, contrasting with her anger.

.

That’s what he feared the most. This is calm. He just made up his mind to fight no matter what. Why is this happening now?

"Please, Cedric, explain everything to me. Why are we fated to have a tragic end and this soul mate of yours?" She spat. He was stunned, ’ soul mate and tragic end ’

Cedric smiled; he understood perfectly well what had happened now. "That’s just superstition, there is no soul mate or tragic end. My only fate is with you. Isn’t that obvious?" He explained.

"Have you met her before? No you haven’t. If you did, you wouldn’t be here." She shook her head. Her lungs were heavy. She could not hide it. Her obvious jealousy.

.

Why couldn’t she be the one meant to have a happy ending with him?

His footsteps were fast against the marble floor. He spun her around to face him. Cedric was squatting before her. "Who are you talking about? Who is the hero you are jealous of?" He asked, sounding almost oblivious.

A sad smile graced her lips. Cedric was completely oblivious to what she meant but there was no need for her to be jealous because there was never going to be another her. Not now, not ever.

If she was scared of fate, and it fought them then he would fight back harder. Her face twisted and she finally raised her voice. "Your soulmate, the one who is right for you." She barked at him then her voice broke.

"Is that what _ you are hiding? Cedric, I am not asking for much. Just be honest with me. Why can’t we be together? How is your mother alive?" She stuttered, her tone almost a whisper. "Please."

That last plea almost broke him. "There is no soul mate, and if I ever have one, it would be you. A lot happened, I am still trying to piece everything together but my love would never change." He admitted

If he could rip out his heart and show her the insides.. how she was the only light in his dark heart. "From the way your mother sounded it’s impossible that I am your soul mate, maybe..."

His eyes narrowed, his voice cut her sharply. "Maybe what. There is no maybe, all that matters is just us." He barked. His aura went ablaze. Abrielle flinched at his tone and he immediately regretted raising his voice.

He bowed his head and his hands fell on her shoulders. "I’m sorry for raising my voice. I didn’t mean it." He mumbled.

She shuffled away, still sitting on the floor. "No, I am the one who is sorry. Can you just give me some space to process everything?"

"What," he blurted, not expecting her to push her away. She bit her lips. Her eyes averted from those gold eyes which were hurt.

He wasn’t the only one hurt. "I don’t mean it in the wrong way. I am not saying you should leave, just give me some space"

They just stared at each other. A lump formed in his throat. She turned away, facing the flames, refusing to look at him.

He stood up, "Fine," the pain in his tone struck her heart. She refused to leave until his presence faded. The doors closed in his absence.

Seconds ticked and she just stared at the flames. Guilt ate her up for sending him away. She hissed pressing her eyes together about to stand up

The door opened, and a soft smile bloomed on her face. That’s right he wasn’t going to leave. "I thought you left." She said, hiding her true emotion.

The footsteps drew closer then stopped. Then a voice came. "He left and he seemed pretty upset. "

Abrielle’s head snapped back, recognising the soothing voice. "Yuki." She blurted.
