Lynn asked, "So that's why you collect witcher items?"

The Countess answered honestly, without hesitation: "Yes."

Countess Mignole's reply greatly satisfied Lynn. The side quest involving Countess Mignole in the game was always a sore point for Witcher 3 players.

Knowing what would happen in the original story, Lynn hoped to help his mentor finally resolve this regret. Since the real-life Countess Mignole still regarded his mentor as her enduring love, things were much simpler.

Lynn revealed his true purpose. "Countess, forgive my directness, but if given the opportunity, would you be willing to meet my mentor again?"

"I would, of course!" The Countess exclaimed, overjoyed, without a moment's hesitation.

"I understand... When I return to Kaer Morhen this year, I'll speak to my mentor about you and persuade him to meet you in Novigrad."

Countess Mignole hadn't expected to have another chance to reunite with Vesemir. In fact, she had sent people to search for Vesemir shortly after her husband's death. But years of searching had yielded no news.

Witchers were nomadic, never staying in one place for too long. The continent was vast; finding a witcher was like searching for a needle in a haystack. She hadn't expected the opportunity to reunite with Vesemir to present itself so unexpectedly.

This made her blurt out, as if by impulse: "Can I... can I go to Kaer Morhen with you?"

"Preferably not," Lynn shook his head, refusing without a second thought. "The journey from Novigrad to Kaer Morhen is far more arduous than you can imagine. I know you're eager to see Mentor Vesemir again, but I must ask for your patience."

This wasn't the modern era. In modern times, there were planes, trains, and ships for travel, making transportation fast and comfortable. Travel across an entire continent, even between continents, was convenient and common.

But in this era, even sitting in a carriage, long-distance travel was more than most people could bear. What's more, the infrastructure and road conditions of this era were abysmal; many places were simply impassable by carriage.

There were too many variables. This Countess should just stay in Novigrad, and when the heavy snow blocking the mountain pass melted next year, Mentor Vesemir would personally come to Novigrad to meet her.

Although he would have to wait until he returned to tell Vesemir about this, Lynn believed Vesemir wouldn't refuse to rekindle his old romance with Countess Mignole.

They already had a past, and nothing untoward had happened between them. The old man had no reason not to see her.

Uneventful days always pass quickly. Soon, it was September of 1251. Every year around this time, the Wolf School witchers traveling abroad would begin preparing for their journey home. Lynn and Geralt were naturally no exception.

For Lynn, this return to Kaer Morhen was not just to reunite with his mentor and other brothers; it was also to announce his plans to them. It was now 1251, a full twelve years before the outbreak of the First Northern War in the original storyline. Twelve years, not too long, not too short.

Starting with the First Northern War, Nilfgaard would repeatedly invade the North in the mere few years that followed. These three Northern Wars would determine the fate of the Northerners, and simultaneously, the fate of the witchers.

If they didn't want to miss all their opportunities, like in the original story, then now was the time to prepare.

The seven street urchins brought back from Hollowpoort, though still underage, were ready for their first lesson as witcher apprentices: physical training. This physical training lesson would last for many years. Naturally, it was better sooner than later.

Therefore, Lynn informed the others that they would be leaving Novigrad in half a month, and to prepare for the long journey. He also contacted Yennefer using the speaking tube.

Yennefer arrived as promised that very night. Lynn, who was in the courtyard with Geralt, educating the children on witcher lore, suddenly noticed a portal opening in an unoccupied corner of the courtyard. A cold-faced Yennefer stepped out of the portal.

Geralt had no idea Yennefer would come. His expression instantly turned awkward; his hands didn't know where to go. Yennefer, on the other hand, looked perfectly composed, far more composed than Geralt. She didn't seem at all affected by Geralt's repeated unannounced departures.

"Lynn," she acknowledged him with a proud nod.

Lynn also gave a slight nod. "I've prepared a room, Madam Yennefer. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you," Yennefer said, walking straight inside without even glancing at Geralt. Lynn quickly instructed Kassia to show Yennefer to her room. If Lynn hadn't had the script in his hand, this scene alone would have made him scold Geralt a couple of times about "how could you abandon such a wonderful woman."

But Lynn knew Yennefer's personality. It wasn't that she was bad, just that she was incredibly strong-willed. Someone who had just met her, and didn't know her well, might even think she was quite nice.

Just like Geralt had thought initially. Only those who knew her well understood that sharing a bed with her required more patience than Tokugawa Ieyasu.

However, this was ultimately the path his good brother Geralt had chosen. So Lynn said nothing more.

Lynn saw Geralt gazing adoringly in the direction Yennefer had left, his eyes practically trailing after her. Amused, he patted Geralt's shoulder.

Then, from his magically enchanted leather pouch, he pulled out several exquisitely crafted silver pieces of jewelry. He placed them in Geralt's hand, who looked utterly bewildered.

"What are you standing there for? Go on, hurry!"

These silver ornaments were actually things Lynn had bought in Beauclair when he had some free time. But don't misunderstand. He had no ulterior motives.

He had specifically bought these Toussaint-style silver ornaments to help his good brother Geralt. As for why he didn't buy more expensive gold jewelry, it was because Yennefer didn't like gold; she only liked silver.

Looking at the Toussaint-style silver jewelry in his palm, Geralt immediately understood his good brother's intention. Their School of the Wolf was like a big family, and Geralt and Lynn had the best relationship within this family.

Therefore, Geralt didn't waste words on pleasantries. He nodded gratefully, took the silver jewelry, and chased after Yennefer in the direction she had gone.
