CHAPTER 208: CHAPTER 208

[ALPHA DOMINIC’s Point of View]

They have to kill me first if they ever go past me.

I would never let any of them hurt Samantha or the kids!

I went down the spiraling staircase as fast as I could, halfway shifting to my werewolf form until I saw a pack of shadow werewolves heading to the main hall. Liam was right. It would be impossible for Killian to stop them in his situation, but I could. Despite the curse that was slowly spreading all over me, I still had the strength to fight, and I was willing to sacrifice everything I had if it meant my Luna and my pups would survive this war.

Olivia would pay handsomely for all the chaos she and her father brought me. I would make her pay for all of it with her life!

I looked for any signs of Olivia, but she wasn’t among them. That started to worry me, and I immediately thought of heading back up the tower, but I was spotted by one of the largest wolves in the pack of enemies, and he quickly alerted the ones who were around him.

The main hall was filled with growls and howls that reverberated in every corner of it as swarms of them started to attack me. I braced myself as the first giant wolf jumped above. I lunged away, ready to rip the one that was about to bite me on the neck with my claw, and I watched how his belly tore open—the squelching sound of his insides made me wince as they dropped down to the floor.

One.

The second one approached me with silver-coated claws, and I had no intention of getting poisoned again while already suffering from the curse within me. I was faster. So much faster than any of them. Being in a large space was an advantage because I could move around, spread them out, and kill them one by one.

With quick steps, I slashed the one with the silver-coated claw on the face, making him scream in agony. I saw how his eyes popped out of their sockets and flew out of his face. I didn’t let him suffer long, though. I wasn’t that dark-hearted, so I slit his throat fast, making his blood gush out of the wound and killing him in seconds.

Two.

I was getting impatient dealing with them. I assumed that all the units we placed here were already dead because I didn’t see any of my men around the area. That was how shadow werewolves were strong. They were at the level of an elite Gamma soldier’s strength, and I doubt that even Killian would ever survive if he ever fought with one of them.

No, I couldn’t let them go up the clock tower. I knew Samantha could manage to kill a bunch of them, but she wouldn’t be able to focus while the kids were with her.

I thought about my Luna, Devon, and Diana. I had to back up the tower and make sure they could get out of this place alive!

[You think you can go back to them, Alpha of the Silver Crescent pack?!] one of them roared in my head as he advanced in front of his soldiers. [You will die here, and I will make sure of that!]

I snorted. What a wonderful joke for him to think they could put me down in my very own territory. [Stop with your silly threats, beast. Do you think you can get out of this place alive as well? You will regret going inside my territory because this will be the end of you!]

I charged straight ahead to the leader of the shadow werewolves. I aimed for his neck—I could hear it with my werewolf sense. The constant throbbing in his neck. That large vein that I tore when my razor-sharp teeth sank deep in his neck as he struggled to get away from me.

The main hall was filled with his roar of agony before he fell on the floor and died. His men looked down at their pack leader in disbelief as they flinched away from me, their tails hiding between their legs as they whimpered in fear.

[Do not be afraid, and do not even think about retreating!]

Olivia’s voice sent a distinct chill down my spine. That confidence in her voice made me despise her more. How dare she bring all this filth into my territory!? She was not satisfied with the circus she made in my council, and she was there again, trying to destroy everything when she knew it wouldn’t serve her any purpose.

[Olivia!] I barked as I bared my teeth at her; they gnashed in anger as I tried my hardest to be patient and not to kill her on sight. She still had Brianne. Samantha would be furious and sad once she found out if something awful happened to Killian’s mate.

[Dominic...] The malice in her gaze flooded my brain with a level of pure anger I had never experienced before. Olivia used to be one of the most loyal subordinates I had in Silver Crescent. She became my escape when I was in my most confused state after I got married to Samantha. But after that wedding, something changed in me. I had realized so many things and regretted all the pain I caused my wife. It was my fault that Olivia became like this.

And it was my responsibility to correct all the mistakes I made.

[Take all your shadow werewolves back to Black Forest with you.] I made sure my voice was full of fury when I communicated with her through mind link. [This is my last warning, Olivia! If you still won’t listen to me, I will make sure none of you can go back to where you came from!]

[Do you think I am scared of you, Dominic?] She spat on me, her voice full of poison and her eyes with resentment. [Do you think I will listen to you or do whatever the hell you say to me again?! I am done taking orders from you, Dominic! I am done being your puppet! I served you and gave you everything, and look what you did to me! You f*cking destroyed me, you *sshole! And now I am here to destroy all of you!]

[I can’t count how many times I apologized to you for everything that happened, Olivia and I am getting tired because I think you are just using this as an excuse to do whatever you really want to do!] I snarled at her, my throat and chest rumbling in anger as my voice boomed all over the main hall. [I won’t let you lay a finger on them!]

[We’ll see...]

She attacked with three more giant shadow werewolves behind her. Four against three. I did my best to elude the three and tried to focus on going after Olivia, but, just like Olivia, they were also fast and strong.

I didn’t see the grease on the floor I was running on and my foot slipped, losing my balance and I was dragged straight to one of them—his claw reached my arm, cutting it open deep and wide, making my eyes widen as the adrenaline started to rush through me violent and strong. I managed to get away but another one caught me and rammed me hard against the wall, breaking three of my right ribs.

[Who’s in trouble now?] Olivia smiled wickedly, elated to see me writhing in pain.

Another wolf tried to attack me from behind. I was so pissed I caught his neck with my teeth and threw him away. I panted, feeling the wound to heal but the curse slowed down the regenerating of tissues, turning the wound black.

I heard the door of the tower slam open. My eyes widened in disbelief when I saw my wife carrying Devon and Diana while they were on Liam’s back. He was running straight out of the building in his werewolf form and I was so baffled I got confused for a second about what happened.

“Lead them here, Dominic!”

My heart started to race in my chest as I watched my wife and my kids and how Olivia and her men diverted all their attention to them. My eyes were wide and I couldn’t move for a second, not because of the wound but out of pure shock.

What the—

I panicked when the largest of the Shadow werewolves nearly reached Liam, prompting me to stand abruptly from the floor and grimace in pain from my injuries. My mouth opened, and I was about to yell for them to come back when I saw Devon standing behind Samantha with his hand raised above his head.

A ball of light exploded in the area, stunning everyone, including me and Olivia’s shadow werewolves.

From under the ground, massive vines with thorns sprouted, breaking free from the small openings in the cracks in the floors. I watched how the ground quaked and the vines caught the shadow werewolves, stabbing them with their thorns and lifting them to the air.

Olivia couldn’t believe what she saw as her eyes widened at Devon, who was still in control of his newly awakened power. My mouth was gaping, and I only remembered to blink when Samantha’s and my eyes locked on each other, and she smiled at me.

But her eyes disappeared when she saw the injuries I got from the fight.

I was too stunned to speak. I had no idea that the twins, who inherited the royal blood of the primordials, had already mastered their powers. How long had they been keeping this from me and their mother? Did Samantha know about it already and just forget to tell me?

But despite it, we were all still in danger, so I immediately stood and ran towards them. I felt Liam’s apprehension as we both ran away from the building with Olivia still in shock at what she had seen.

“I am also surprised,” Liam said to me when I stayed speechless from what happened.

Devon gave me a proud, wide smile, and I smiled back at him.

My little boy.

[Good job, buddy.] I said with pride for my son, and for the very first time, I saw how Devon’s eyes softened at me.
