    [SAMANTHA’s point of View]

It broke my heart to see Killian leave.

I nced at my husband, who was looking behind me with that dark expression on his face. Dominic knew, even though Killian was already mated to someone, he still never liked me going anywhere near the MoonStone Alpha, let alone wrapping my arms around my best friend.

Dominic was always overprotective of me and the kids. He didn’t even care that the council agreed to let Killian be the temporary Alpha of the pack after the Fang Trinity and the ck w organization terrorized Silver Crescent.

He was more concerned about me and the kids being inside a ce where our enemies had full control, and that gave me more confidence in our rtionship. He meant it when he said he wouldn’t care if the world burned down if it meant I and the kids were safe.

Dominic had a n. He always had. I saw in his eyes that he had been thinking about a way to get rid of Olivia and her minions from his territory. I wondered if he and Liam had already talked in private despite the tight security around the ce.

I still had no idea why Olivia hadn’t killed us all when she had the chance. I guess she was still thinking that she could take over Silver Crescent and had been plotting a way to stain my husband’s and our family’s name in public and make them all believe that he had no right to the power of an Alpha.

So the people could trust her with it—which was a ridiculous way to overthrow Dominic after the council found out that she was touched by the dark power residing in the ck Forest and

I knew by the time that the three of us went out of the council meeting hall, Olivia was already plotting to kill all of us.

    “Samantha the kids—”

“Yes, I know.” I murmured at him softly and held his hand as he reached for mine. I immediately let go as I headed up the stairs. My heart felt as if it was going to explode when I saw the surprised faces of Diana and Devon looking up at me as if they both couldn’t believe I was in front of them. Their big, terrified eyes were filled with tears as soon as they realized that it was really me and their Dad standing behind me.

    “Mom—”

“Shhh... we have to be careful here.” I ced my finger on my lips, gently warning them not to cry loudly while we were in the hallways. There were no guards around, but I wouldn’t take the risk. “Follow me and Dad.”

There was hurt in their eyes as they followed behind me. Diana wanted to throw me a hug and failed to give it; I was scared that she might get very emotional and give off a powerful aura that would confuse the guards nearby and they would start to look where it came from.

Diana was a powerful werewolf cub and had a very powerful presence that she sometimes failed to control. With her emotions exploding, I got worried our enemies would find where they were.

When we all got into Lena’s former room, that’s when I pulled both of them into tight hug and my body started to tremble as emotions started to flood all over me. Dominic must have felt my fear because I felt his firm hand on my shoulder as if telling me that he was there and that the kids were finally safe.

“I am so sorry I failed to get you from Olivia, Devon, Diana! I was so scared she hurt you or something. I am so sorry I—”

“We are both okay, Mom. Devon was there to keep me safe all the time.” My sweet Diana smiled at me, gently pulling away and then wiping the tears from my face with her small hands. “Nothing bad happened to us, but we were kept in a small prison cell down in the dungeons.”

“They are all big bullies, but they fed us okay,” Devon added with a serious, red face.

Dominic was silent the whole time. HIs face was dark and grave, as he looked away from me and the kids. His hands slipped inside his pants while his sharp, deadly eyes were making a promise that he would kill Olivia and her men.

“What are we going to do now, Dominic?” I asked as I stood up. Devon and Diana wrapped their arms around me, scared to be left alone again after what happened.

“Let’s make sure the kids are safely hidden away from Olivia,” Dominic answered as he bit his lower lip and then sighed deeply. His apologetic eyes were sad and gloomy when he looked back at me, and I felt the pain he was suffering as he stared down at the kids’ faces. “Liam knows what to do already.”

I nodded at my husband with teary eyes as I kissed Devon and Diana’s cheeks.

    *****

We both never wanted to be apart from the twins, but Liam made sure that he would hide them so Olivia and her men wouldn’t be able to find Devon and Diana.

I waited for Olivia to storm into my room and threaten me after the kids got out of the dungeons but no Olivia or her men came. Instead, I heard the news that she went outside the borders to attend something, and that made me more anxious. Was she trying to get more allies or gather more men to finally wage war against the Silver Crescent? Did she think that her strategy wouldn’t work so she would just annihte the pack?

I decided to see Dominic in her study area and brought him a warm ss of milk. He hated milk, but he was still recovering from what happened, so I wouldn’t allow him to have any liquor in his system.

My heart was beating fast in my chest. I knew my husband was getting ready for whatever might happen and I never wanted to distract his mind but I had to see him.

I had to see him because my mind was also in chaos and only his presence could calm me down.

    “Dominic...”

I saw him sitting at his desk while holding something. An album? I was surprised to see him looking at photos as I ced the warm ss of milk on the table.

There was a slight awkwardness in the air as I rubbed my arms with my cold hands. “Whose photos are you looking at?” I asked, smiling as I stepped beside him, wanting to see the photos that left him sad and contemting.

My eyes slightly widened in surprise to see that those were our wedding photos. I was taken aback because I had never expected him to reminisce about such a part of his life. I always thought he hated that day so much—always thought that he hated me and everyone who arranged for him to marry me.

“Why are you looking at those?” I asked, a little confused by the emotions that suddenly flooded my chest.

“Maybe because I feel so much regret...” he answered softly.

Those words were like a cold knife that cut my insides. I was about to leave the room but he stopped me by grabbing me by the wrist and then stared at me with sad, teary eyes. “I am not finished with what I want to say, my love. Please, stay.”

“I heard what I need to hear already.” I said with hurt in my voice without looking at him.

“What I mean is,” he continued, still refusing to let go of my hand. “that I regret that I didn’t show you how much I loved you that day.”

Those words were enough for me to look at him with surprise in my eyes. He? Loved me before?

My mind turned into clouds of confusion, so his words left me speechless.

“My mother protected you from the curse and from the truth that you have a Royal Primordial Blood. She knew your life would be in danger. She knew you would be killed if people found out. So she made you and everyone believe you are a weakling, wolfless Omega girl who she had to take care of after your parents died.”

I watched him trace the picture of my face in our wedding photo and then bite his lower lip hard before he continued softly, "Maybe she knew the curse could be transferred to a spouse, and only I was powerful enough to handle it. I was the only one she trusts who could save you and the kids.”

There was a heavy feeling in my chest because what he said was right. Lena made me marry Dominic because she knew only Dominic’s strength could tolerate the deadly side of the curse and could still survive it. She sacrificed her only son for me to survive this ordeal in our lives. But I never expected Dominic already had feelings for me even before the wedding happened.

“Why didn’t you just tell me?” I asked. My eyes were red and teary as I forced myself not to cry in front of him.

“I got scared,” he answered as he lifted his face to look at me with pain in his eyes. “I let my anger for my mother overpower my emotions and forget what my heart really desired. You are my fated mate, Samantha. You and the twins are my everything.”

Tears rolled down my face from those sweet words that Dominic said to me. I was about to reach for his face and wanted to kiss him so bad when the phone rang urgently, which Dominic had no choice but to answer.

He looked pissed as he wiped the tears with his hand, dragging it down his face.

I watched how his face turned dark and grim as he listened on the other line.

“What is it? What happened?” I asked him as soon as he hung up.

“It’s the Fang Trinity and the ck ws spotted gathering forces at the border of the pack,” he answered, his teeth bared in calm anger. “Olivia is leading them to the gates and threatens to destroy the walls.”

My heart started to sink to my stomach as I whispered in horror, “What does she want now? She already has Silver Crescent. Do you think she’s trying to—”

“Liam said she’s going to destroy Silver Crescent if we don’t handle her Devon and Diana,” he growled as he rested his elbows on the table and sped his hands together. “If she wants war, then we will give her what she wants.”
