Chapter 210
h4Chapter 210: Chapter 210/h4
[DIANA’s Point of View]
“Mom!”
Devon and I immediately ran towards dad but Mom froze from where she was standing and just stared down at the broken crystal in front of her. I had no idea what that crystal ball was about. At first, I thought it was just a silly thing but nothing happened when the ball fell on the floor and cracked. But the terror on Mom’s face brought fear in me that I couldn’t exin and that’s when I jumped on Dad’s arm as he carried me and wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my face on his chest.
“What’s that?” Devon asked, confused about the ball as well.
I was waiting for Mom to attack thedy phantom, but no one, not even Dad, dared to move. It was as if a bomb would blow any minute if ever one of us made a single step, until gamma guards and soldiers rushed inside the building and went straight to pick Olivia up off the floor.
“Sam! Dominic!”
“Killian!”
Mom finally moved and was relieved when she saw Uncle Killian running towards us. Uncle Liam was also transported out of the building with a stretcher after he took serious damage from the phantomdy’s kick.
“Is Liam okay?” Mommy asked as soon as she got closer to us and Dad, “How is he?”
“Few broken ribs and a pelvis. He will survive, my love... don’t worry.” Dad murmured to Mom but his attention went to the guards who dragged the phantomdy. They used some equipment—I wasn’t sure what it really was, but there were silvers and moongrass everywhere that made the phantom woman scream in fear and pain as she was chained inside a ss cage where her dark smoke couldn’t get out of it.
She pounded the cage with her fist as she screamed. "Do you believe that everyone is safe?" NO ONE IS SAFE NOW, DOMINIC! I nted a curse on all of you! That crystal ball?! That possesses a curse that you could never get rid of, Dominic! This will haunt you forever until your death!”
Mom’s brows deepened into a frown as she red at the phantomdy. She snarled, “No matter what you do, you will never win, Olivia. We will fight and we will fight hard for our family—for Silver Crescent! And we will stop you from whatever you are nning, you hear me?! We will stop you and this will end here!”
I thought my heart fluttered and my eyes sparkled when I heard how strong-willed and brave Mom was. All I thought about that moment was that I wanted to be like her so bad one day when I grew up. I wanted to be as strong and brave as Mom. I was so proud to be Mom and Dad’s daughter!
Mom and Uncle Killian went to the shattered crystal ball and stared at it for seconds as Devon, Dad, and I approached them. I looked down and saw that the souls trapped inside had flown outside the building, as if they were searching for something. One of them even nced at me, giving me that dead, cold look in the eyes as if it was staring deep into my soul, and I hid my face against my dad’s shirt.
“What is it, Killian?” Dad asked as he pressed me against him when I hid my face from the dark soul that flew out the window. “Do you have any idea what this thing is?”
Curiosity made me look at Uncle Killian’s face as he answered while scratching his chin thoughtfully, “I am not really sure, Dominic. Maybe we can look at it in the library to know what this really is.”
“Wait, how is Brianne? Have you seen her? Olivia had her. We all saw her chained when we were on the top of the clock tower before Olivia breached the barrier. Is she hurt? Did Olivia do something to her to convince her to destroy the barrier for them?”
We all waited for Uncle Killian to answer Mom’s question, but he stayed silent, which made Dad’s brow deepen into a frown. His face darkened at Uncle Killian’s silence, which confused me.
With a heavy sigh, Uncle Killian averted his eyes from Mom and Dad as he spoke, “She’s back in the pack house, Sam. She is not hurt, but she suffered real trauma from what happened. I will go back to her once we make sure that Olivia is securely brought back in the dungeon and never gets out from there.”
Dad didn’t answer, though, and just gave a short nod while Mom smiled, happy that none of us died after what happened.
“Status, Killian?” Dad asked instead as he put me down, and Mom held me and Devon in each arm.
“Half of your pack is destroyed by the shadow werewolves.” Uncle Killian reported as we all walked slowly out the door. “The numbers of the dead aren’t determined yet, but there are great losses on our side, Dominic. The other Alphas had been looking for you in the battlegrounds.”
“I will talk to them about what happened here.” Dad answered with a serious voice. A car was already waiting for all of us outside. “And Killian?” Dad stopped walking as he squinted at Uncle Killian. “Where had you been while all of this was happening?”
“I was looking for Brianne, Dominic.” Uncle Killian’s voice was so low, and it sounded almost like a growl as he stepped closer to Dad. His eyes were dark, as if looking threatened by Dad’s suspicions. “I had been looking for her all around this hellhole because I am bringing her back to MoonStone pack.”
“Stop it, Dominic. What is important is Brianne’s safety now.” Mom stepped between them as he tried to calm Dad down. I looked at Dad’s wounds, and they were slowly healing already. But the poison was spreading as the ck veins still kept on spreading all over Dad’s arm. I wondered how he was going to treat it. I wonder if it will ever be okay again.
I was scared for Dad’s life.
“Killian!”
We were all surprised when Aunty Brianne suddenly appeared and ran towards Uncle Killian. Uncle Killian’s eyes widened in surprise and confusion when he saw her wrapping her arms around him with longing. My brother and I didn’t know much about her, but she scared me.
“Brianne! I thought—”
“I came back here to know if you are okay,” thedy with the dark hair said, her eyes wide as if she was slightly hysterical. Her hands were trembling when she touched Uncle Killian’s face.
“Brianne, it’s okay. We already captured Olivia. You are safe.” Mom attempted to calm her down, but when Aunty Brianne noticed the shattered crystal ball on the floor, she began to panic with fear once more.
“Do you know it, Brianne?!” Mom held her on both of her shoulders, desperate for the answers. “Tell us all what you know about this thing!”
“Samantha, you are scaring her—”
“It’s the crystal ball of the Dark Pact,” she answered with a trembling voice as tears started to stream down her face. “My grandma told me before that Richard Bete signed a pact with the dark forces in the ck Forest, and only the twins’ blood can reverse the curse that he unleashed in thesends.”
“What curse, Brianne? Do you know anything about these curses your grandmother talked about? Do you know something that can reverse about what happened to Killian and Dominic—”
Mom’s desperation to know the answers scared Aunty Brianne, me, and Devon. I had never seen Mom being so hysterical like that, and that made Uncle Killian upset because Mom forced Aunty Brianne to tell her everything when Aunty Brianne wasn’t ready to talk about these kinds of things yet, after what happened.
“Calm down, my love...” Dad pulled Mom to him, and Devon and I watched as he cupped his face in both of his hands and kissed her gently. “Calm down... we will find the answers. We just need to rest. We are all still terrified of what happened today.”
Mom must have realized her behavior, so she softly apologized to Aunty Brianne and decided that we should all leave so Dad could assess the damage the war had caused to Silver Crescent.
Devon and I looked at each other, full of worry. When we hopped into the car together with Mom and Dad, Mom immediately pulled both of us against her as she kissed the top of our heads. Dad watched her with weary and worried eyes as he reached for Mom’s hand and squeezed it to calm her down.
“Don’t be afraid, Diana, Devon. Mommy and Daddy will do anything to keep you safe from these people. Mom whispered to us while biting her lower lip, as if she were trying to stop the tears from rolling down her face.
I couldn’t say anything. I couldn’t tell Mom that we were not scared and we believed that they would protect us both, no matter what. But as I looked at Dad’s wound, I noticed that it had turned purplish-ck because of the curse.
My wolf instinct told me that there was something wrong with that mark on Dad’s wrist. It went deep into his skin. Burrowing itself deeper into his bones.
