The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins
Chapter 217
h4Chapter 217: Chapter 217/h4
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
Would we be able to do this?
“You can go back to the kids, Samantha...” Dominic whispered to me as he tucked my hair behind my ear. His soft, hazel eyes looked silver under the pale moonlight. “I know you are worried about the kids and this journey to that valley is dangerous. We don’t know how strong that giant wolf is.”
Dominic’s phone chimed again and he took it from the pocket of his jeans, expecting Liam to update him about what was happening in the pack manor and if the kids, especially Devon, were in their room, sleeping. But as he stared at his phone’s screen, puzzled by whatever was on it, his brows deepened.
Killian had already snatched the phone from Dominic’s hand before I could even ask my husband whatever it was that he saw. Killian’s brows raised in surprise and then frowned as if trying toprehend whatever it was. He even angled the thing to get a better look at it.
“What is it, Killian?” I asked a little impatiently and he gave me the phone, which I grabbed from his hand.
“Liam sent a picture that looks the same as the giant beast guarding the arch gates of the Moon Wolf Spring. I have no idea where he got it, though.”
“That’s my mother’s handwriting below that rough sketch of the beast,” Dominic said to Killian as he squinted his eyes and then looked down at the valley where the Moon Wolf Spring lies on the other side of it. “It must be from Mom’s possessions in the attic.”
“What is Liam doing there, though?” I asked, confusingly even though Killian and Dominic had no idea how to answer that question. “What does it mean?”
I used my werewolf eyes to see the texts that were too small for the human eyes to read. I felt a warm sensation around my eyes as the picture zoomed in.
It was indeed Lena’s handwriting and the paper had the same color and quality as the papers in her diary that was in my backpack. My heart started to race. Could it be that Lena had another diary that was hidden in the attic? I read the words written on it and my mouth slightly parted.
“What is it, my love?” Dominic murmured to me when he saw the surprise on my face.
“The text says that only someone with Primordial blood can tame the beast. The beast must be an ancient creature guarding the Spring for thousands of years.”
“So it means you can’t go back if we want to get that cure?” Killian scratched the bottom of his chin and then looked at me, as if telling me to decide if we would continue this tonight or would just head back, knowing that Devon went to the dungeons despite Dominic’s and my warning.
“Samantha...”
I inhaled sharply through my teeth and then rested my fists on my hips while looking down on the ground and then at Killian and Dominic. “What do you think we should do? Should we head back? If we go back, I have no idea when we cane back here again, knowing that the ck Forest changes like a maze every single night.”
“This is up to you, Sam, really,” Killian said as he adjusted the hook of his bag on his shoulder and then looked at Dominic as if trying to make Dominic agree with what he said but the Silver Crescent Alpha’s jaw tightened and then he looked down as if he couldn’t decide for it as well.
“To be honest, if it’s up to me, I want you to go back, Samantha.” Dominic finally spoke as he gave me that grave, anxious look on his face. “I never want you to go with us. Killian and I could handle it on our own—”
“But unfortunately,” Killian cut Domnic’s words as he looked down at the picture on the phone I was holding. He continued as he looked at Dominic and me, “We can’t do that because apparently, Samantha is the only Promordial Queen here and we need her to get inside the f*cking Moon Wolf Spring.”
Dominic rolled his eyes and then let out an exasperated sigh, looking tired of Killian’s sarcasm.
“Then I’ll go with both of you. This is the only chance we have.” I pleaded to my husband as I held both of his hands and then stared into his eyes, “We can’t wait any more days to get here, Dominic. You know your condition is worsening, and we don’t know how long you can endure the pain as the curse’s poison spreads. I don’t want to watch you slowly wither from the agony you struggle to endure every day. We will do it tonight.”
“What about the children?” Dominic asked with fear in his eyes.
"We’ll try to reach Moon Wolf Spring and return before dawn with the cure for your curse, Dominic. I am sure that Liam is taking excellent care of your kids. He’s worried and he knows that Samantha’s going here in the ck Forest after his mate saw the map on her study table and so he asked me to go after her.”
“Did Liam tell you about this too?” I asked my husband as I saw him sigh.
“Yes.” Dominic answered as he averted his eyes from me and looked at the arch gate at the other side of the valley, “I came back from my daily patrol and noticed that Samantha isn’t anywhere in the Pack house so I asked Liam about her and he told me that she went here and that you sent her to go after her.”
“But of course you don’t trust me, right? So you still went after her.” Killian grinned, taunting Dominic, who was already ring at him.
“Stop it, Killian. You are not helping,” I hissed at the MoonStone Alpha.
“Okay, let’s not waste any more precious minutes arguing about this and go.” Killian started walking down the hill. “We still have a giant to tame.”
Dominic looked at me as if telling me that I could still change my mind and we could juste back again. But I bit my bottom lip hard and followed Killian instead as I carefully stepped down the hill, steadying my foot so I wouldn’t slip on the rocks.
The way to the valley was tougher than we thought. It started to rain, and I couldn’t tell how many times Killian and I slipped from the boulders. Dominic led the way and helped both of us to climb up and slowly step down to it without rolling down the steep slope and breaking our bones and skulls on the sharp rocks.
As soon as we reached the ins, Killian, Dominic and I held our breath as we saw that three-story-high beast sleeping just in front of the arch gate, blocking its entrance. Just like in the sketch, it was indeed a giant silver wolf, the same shade of fur as Dominic’s wolf, which made my husband stare at it in wonder. Even Killian was mesmerized by the beauty and calmness of the creature as it peacefully slept in front of us.
“Maybe you have a rtive you didn’t mention to us?” Killian whispered to Dominic, thinking that the creature came from Dominic’s n of silver wolves.
As an answer, my husband shot Killian an annoyed and deadly re.
To our surprise, the creature suddenly opened its eyes as if it smelled something familiar and then stood on its four feet. I looked around the surroundings as the three of us hid ourselves behind a huge rock that was big enough to conceal us from it.
Dominic squeezed my hand as he looked me in the eyes and then whispered, “It can sense you, my love. The beast can sense your presence, and the cold breeze in the forest carries your scent. It recognizes you. It knows you are just near it.”
That brought fear in me as I squeezed his hand back and I saw how Dominic’s eyes softened.
“You don’t have to go if you are scared, my love,” he whispered again.
But I had to go. I need to go. For him.
Taking a deep breath, I stood away from the rock, revealing myself to the beast. I felt Dominic’s hand slip from my hand. He and Killian wanted to go with me, but I asked them to let me do this alone because they might scare the creature with their presence.
Too bad I didn’t notice right away the glowing purple eyes of the beast when its eyes fell on me as it towered over me and bared its razor-sharp teeth. Snarls erupted from the creature’s throat as its drool dripped onto the ground.
It’s poisoned with the curse, Samantha! Go back!] Dominic’s panicky voice echoed in my head. [Go back, Samantha! Please!]
[NO! I CAN’T GO BACK NOW!] I barked at my husband. [We have to do this!]
The creature stepped towards me as it continued to snarl as if it was studying my features but didn’t make any violent moves on me. It just stared at me like it was threatened by my presence until I took the Wolf Ne from my neck. The pendant glinted when the moonlight struck it as I raised it for the creature to see.
I saw how the pupil of its eyes widened.
The giant silver wolf’s eyes turned soft as the tension in its body disappeared.
[What happened] I heard Killian’s voice in my head sounding puzzled.
[The pendant.] Dominic answered. [It must have recognized the Wolf Pendant.]
Those glowing purple eyes of the beast slowly turned into a hue of blue as soon as it saw the pendant—like the thing calmed it down.
But then suddenly, the hairs on the back of my neck rose and my eyes widened as I felt that awful presence that suddenly appeared right behind me. That same scent of any cursed creature I ever encountered.
[WATCH OUT!!!!]
I turned around and evaded the three silver des that were aimed at the back of my head and it went straight, stabbing the eye of the giant silver wolf, who roared in pain.
The whole valley shook and my whole body froze when I saw the familiar shape of the woman walking towards me with a deadly re.
