CHAPTER 858: CHAPTER 575: LIU ZHENG: AM I GOING TO BE A DAD NOW? (PART 2)
Thirteen Yao said.
"I see. Looks like I’ve been praying to the right Buddha."
Liu Zheng laughed and said.
"That’s right, do you think anyone who comes to the Hundred Ghosts can get a personal reception from the head minister?"
Thirteen Yao said proudly.
"Yes, yes, the minister is mighty, the minister is the best~"
He raised both hands in a gesture of worship.
"Look at how perfunctory you are. All right, all right, just hurry up and leave once you’re done. If that old geezer finds out, I’ll get whipped again."
Thirteen Yao said disdainfully.
"I’m not done yet. Mr. Batiao is still looking for me."
Liu Zheng said.
"You still want to go to the boiler room? Don’t even think about it. I’m never taking you there; that’s no place for a guest."
Thirteen Yao shook his head like a rattle drum.
"I don’t need you to take me; I can go down myself."
"You’re not planning to have Yaoji take you down, are you? I’m telling you, taking a guest to the lowest level without permission is a serious offense. Even her brother-in-law in the market supervision department can’t protect her."
"Kid, women are to be pampered. Even if you use them, it should have limits."
Thirteen Yao’s expression became serious, looking at Liu Zheng as if he were looking at a pest.
"With the minister saying that, I’m relieved. I’ll rely on you to take care of Yangzi in the Hundred Ghosts in the future."
Liu Zheng, instead of getting angry, said with a grin.
"Hmm? You’re not using Yaoji to take you down?"
Thirteen Yao caught the hidden meaning in his words.
"I have more troubles than friends."
He said meaningfully.
After bidding farewell, Liu Zheng, accompanied by a waiter, arrived at the elevator.
"So, how’s the Breathing Technique coming along?"
He asked.
"Master, it’s only been half an hour, even finding a pair of socks wouldn’t be this quick."
The waiter said with a bitter smile.
"Just asking to push you a little bit, no need to be so nervous."
Liu Zheng adopted a tone like a leader scolding a subordinate.
It can only be said that everyone eventually becomes the kind of person they despise.
The waiter pressed the down button, and the elevator door opened quickly.
He was about to step in when Liu Zheng stopped him.
"Master, what are you...?"
The waiter was somewhat confused.
"You don’t need to accompany me down."
He said.
"Ah?"
The waiter widened his eyes.
"For your own good."
Liu Zheng patted his shoulder and stepped into the elevator.
"Here, this is paper and pen. Distribute them to the woman and the old man."
He handed the paper and pen he got from Yangzi to Samurai Yifa.
"Got it, sir. I’ve already talked to them; they’re willing to communicate with their kind. However, they hope you’ll help clean up a bit too."
Samurai Yifa said.
"That’s no problem."
Liu Zheng nodded.
It’s normal to make demands; not making demands would be the strange thing.
"Though I myself don’t have the time. I’ll have someone else help with it later."
He said.
"Understood, I’ll explain it to them clearly."
Samurai Yifa promised.
"Then I’ll go and have them write the letters now."
"Go ahead."
Liu Zheng waved his hand.
Samurai Yifa turned and disappeared into the darkness at the end of the line of sight.
About half an hour later, he came back out of the darkness.
"This is my letter, this is Xiaosixi’s letter, and this is Lüyise’s letter."
Samurai Yifa handed over the three letters to Liu Zheng in order.
His own letter was the thinnest, Xiaosixi’s was medium, and Lüyise’s was the thickest.
"Let me guess, Lüyise is that old man?"
Liu Zheng raised an eyebrow.
"Ah, no. Lüyise is that lady."
Samurai Yifa shook his head.
"Hmm... alright, take me to the negative first floor."
He nonchalantly put away the letters and said.
"Certainly."
The elevator started running and soon reached the negative first floor.
"Ding!"
The elevator door opened, and a dim light shone in.
Liu Zheng looked over, seeing that it was Mr. Batiao holding a kerosene lamp outside.
"I’m honored to be received personally by Mr. Batiao."
He said with a smile.
"If I didn’t come to get you, would you be able to make it to the boiler room?"
Batiao sneered.
Beyond the range of the lamp’s glow, the darkness seemed to stir like a ferocious dog ready to pounce.
"Not necessarily."
Liu Zheng said calmly.
He wasn’t afraid of all sorts of things down below before, let alone now that he had "Seven Deadly Sins·Anger" in hand.
At worst, he’d light up a cigarette, cut everything down, and collect some ingredients while at it.
"Such a big mouth. Keep up, if you fall behind, I won’t come looking for you."
Batiao gave him a sidelong glance, then led the way into the darkness with the kerosene lamp.
Liu Zheng bit down on his staple cigarette and followed Batiao.
Soon, he saw that iron door again, with the blazing fire behind it.
"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"
Once Liu Zheng entered the door, the golden balls rushed out of their nests, bouncing around him.
"Miss me that much?"
He smiled softly and then squatted down, using his tentacles to scoop a bunch of golden balls into his arms.
The other golden balls saw this and clung to his trousers, climbing up.
In no time, Liu Zheng was covered in golden balls, making him look like a golden-haired wild man.
"That’s enough. Get to work now."
After they clung to him for a while, Batiao spoke.
"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"
The golden balls nuzzled against Liu Zheng one last time before reluctantly leaving him to get to work.
Once they were gone, Liu Zheng noticed the mark of the black dumpling had turned half black and half gold.
"Name: Dumplings’ Gratitude (One-time use)"
"Type: Item"
"Quality: Perfect"
"Effect 1: Use in the corners or shadows of a building to transform into a giant dumpling with all its abilities. Duration: ten minutes, can be dismissed at any time."
"Effect 2: Can be used as fuel to greatly enhance fire abilities, bomb power, and other suitable uses."
"Remark: Thank our friend, Praise our father."
"Can it be taken out of the instance: Yes"
"Mr. Batiao, can we make a deal?"
He turned to Batiao.
"Don’t even think about it. They’ve signed a contract with the bathhouse; they’d die if they left."
Batiao didn’t need to guess what nonsense he was about to spout.
"At least reduce their workload a bit."
Liu Zheng tried another approach.
"Do I look like someone who looks for trouble for no reason? If there’s no work to do, I’d be glad for the break too."
Batiao said irritably.
"At least give them better food. These cute little things don’t live long, eat little, so let them have something good, consider it a merit for your granddaughter."
He tried yet another approach.
"Their favorite food is that stuff outside. If you can bring it in, I’ll give them an extra meal."
Batiao gestured toward the door.
"Fine. Got anything handy?"
Liu Zheng immediately asked.
"What? You really want to go? In your current state, getting outside you’d be ripped apart in less than a second."
"These little guys have hosted me well, I can’t let them down, right?"
He said, shaking the dumpling mark on his tentacle.
"A bunch of ungrateful things. I’ve taken care of them all these years, and they never thanked me with that."
Batiao’s tone was full of jealousy.
"No worries, I’ll thank you on their behalf."
Liu Zheng said with a smile.
"Hm, sweet talk."
Batiao gave him a look and walked to the medicine cabinet.
He opened several drawers and took out a bunch of miscellaneous materials.
Liu Zheng hadn’t even seen clearly what it was before those materials were kneaded into a big black pill.
Batiao brought the big black pill back, then lifted the cover of the kerosene lamp, tucking it into the lamp chimney.
With a strong blow, the fire blazed up, and the black pill emitted wisps of blue smoke.
Liu Zheng took a deep breath but didn’t smell anything.
"Dinner time."
Batiao tapped the kerosene lamp, the crisp sound echoing in the boiler room.
At his command, the golden balls swarmed over.
