The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?
Chapter 871 - 582: Ethereal Alley and Witch Volva
CHAPTER 871: CHAPTER 582: ETHEREAL ALLEY AND WITCH VOLVA
"You and Miss Nightingale have a really close relationship."
The deputy director laughed.
He was also experienced in such matters, and naturally saw that Nightingale was teasing Liu Zheng.
"After all, I’m a benevolent master."
Liu Zheng replied.
Since Nightingale wanted to play into this joking reference, Liu Zheng wouldn’t hesitate to solidify his role as the master.
"Haha. Well, I’ll take my leave then, Mr. Liu."
The deputy director said as he headed toward the underground garage.
He had parked two cars in the underground garage, just enough for him and Nightingale to each drive one.
"Let’s go, to Ethereal Alley."
Liu Zheng glanced at his phone and quickly got onto the carriage.
The carriage’s speed wasn’t as fast as a tank, but it was barely enough for the city.
By the time he reached the entrance of Ethereal Alley, there were only thirty minutes left for the delivery time limit.
Upon seeing his arrival, Yaksha and Zhi Zi ended their standoff and walked over to him.
Today, Yaksha wore more fabric than last time, a black and red hood covering up her impressive figure but adding a mysterious charm.
Zhi Zi, meanwhile, was dressed in a blue and white school uniform, looking pure and cute, and with the samurai sword at her waist, she seemed to have walked right out of an anime.
"Should I kill him?"
Zhi Zi was the first to speak.
"Heh."
Yaksha sneered.
"Can you kill him?"
She also asked.
"You can’t, and there’s no need. You’re both here to help me today. If you want an exciting solo fight, save it for after I’m done with my work."
Liu Zheng said calmly.
"Hmph. This carriage can’t enter Ethereal Alley, you’re wasting your effort."
Yaksha glanced at the carriage and the driver, a hint of apprehension flashing in her eyes before she taunted.
"Who knows if anyone might chase after us? Plus, as long as it can serve as a means of transportation, it’s not wasted. Want some?"
He took out some dried fish.
"I’m not interested in such simple food."
Yaksha shook her head.
She wasn’t just being stubborn; although dried fish tasted quite good, the preparation was indeed very simple.
The Dark Elves were a race that loved luxurious enjoyment, and Yaksha, being a noble among them, was particularly so.
"Is it tasty?"
Zhi Zi asked curiously.
"Very popular."
Liu Zheng gave a thumbs up with his tentacle.
"Then I want to try it."
Zhi Zi took the dried fish, tore off a piece, put it in her mouth, and after chewing for a bit, a blissful smile appeared on her face.
"Tasty right? Here, take these too."
Liu Zheng gave her Yaksha’s share as well.
Yaksha frowned but didn’t say anything childish like "Why should I?"
"Alright, there’s not much time left, let’s get in quickly."
Liu Zheng glanced at his phone and said.
Even though Yaksha had said it wouldn’t work, he still instructed the driver to proceed forward.
But just as the carriage was about to enter the alley, arms sprouted from the walls on both sides, blocking the way.
"These are the Earth Golems guarding the entrance. If you insist on barging in, blocking your carriage won’t be the only thing they do."
Yaksha said.
"Don’t the people who live here use transportation?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Wizards have their own means of transportation. Your carriage doesn’t match their style."
Yaksha replied.
"Who says so? I know a very powerful gray-robed Wizard who loves carriages, and later even upgraded to a white robe Wizard."
"Telling me won’t help. You need to convince the controller of Ethereal Alley."
Yaksha said with indifference.
"Who?"
"I don’t know. He’s never revealed his true form and always appears as different Elemental Spirits."
Yaksha shook her head.
"So secretive, it fits my stereotype of Wizards."
He joked.
"Once you’re in Ethereal Alley, you’d better not be disrespectful to him. I don’t want any trouble because of your loose tongue."
Yaksha warned.
"I don’t even know his name, how could I be disrespectful?"
Liu Zheng rolled his eyes.
"No one knows his esteemed name, only a shared honorable title."
"What is it?"
He asked.
"The Great Mage."
Yaksha said.
"Great name."
Liu Zheng patted the horse’s behind, signaling the carriage to back up.
After retreating about ten meters, the Earth Golem’s arms retracted into the walls.
"Then I’ll trouble you to wait for me here."
He politely said to the driver.
"I don’t mind, but it might."
The driver remarked.
Unable to enter Ethereal Alley, the horse wouldn’t get its Black Magic bath.
"Neigh!"
The horse also snorted in response and nudged Liu Zheng’s leg with its head.
The hard touch and the force made him grimace.
"Well, there’s nothing I can do. I can’t stir up trouble if there’s none."
He said helplessly.
"Aren’t you good at that?"
The driver countered.
"...I’ll try, try my best, okay."
After calming the horse (and perhaps the driver too), Liu Zheng led the two into Ethereal Alley.
"Huh?"
Once he fully entered Ethereal Alley, the scenery suddenly changed to a majestic hall.
Though called a hall, many plants grew on the ground and walls.
Oak, beech, and pine trees with lush foliage were scattered around, making this place look like more of a forest or ecological park.
In the center of the hall hung a twisting green vine. Following it upward, one could see only a mass of fog and no root of the vine.
"What have I gotten myself into, is this Ethereal Alley?"
Liu Zheng scratched his head.
"This is the plaza of Ethereal Alley, also known as the gathering hall. The hall’s style rotates based on the residents’ preferences every month."
