CHAPTER 873: CHAPTER 583: SURPRISES EVERYWHERE IN THE METROPOLIS

"Rotting Ray!"

With a brief spell, three ghostly green rays shot out from the fingertips of the bone, heading towards the three of them.

It was said to be a test for Liu Zheng, but Wolva clearly didn’t intend to spare either the Yaksha or Zhi Zi.

Liu Zheng’s response was simple—he chopped off a section of tentacle and tossed it over.

The ghostly green ray struck the severed tentacle, and before it hit the ground, it transformed into a mass of rotten flesh.

"Secret Sword Return."

Zhi Zi drew her blade, swung it horizontally, and like a baseball bat, knocked the ghostly green ray back.

Seeing the ray heading straight for Wolva, she calmly opened her mouth and swallowed the ray directly.

The Yaksha, seemingly having anticipated this, released Spiritual Lightning before the others, rendering it and the ghostly green ray into nothingness.

"Indeed, it’s convenient to be a Black Mountain Goat Cub hybrid. But I wonder, if I turn you into an undead creature, can you retain such recovery abilities?"

Wolva looked at Liu Zheng’s rapidly healing tentacle, eyes burning with interest.

"If I beat her up, will anyone come to help?"

Liu Zheng kept his eyes on her but asked the Yaksha.

"She struck first, so as long as you don’t affect other residents or damage the structure of Ethereal Alley, we won’t interfere."

The Yaksha replied.

"Quite reasonable."

Liu Zheng raised an eyebrow.

"It’s because we have to be."

The Yaksha smirked mockingly.

Though memories are wiped when entering the Metropolis, followers or minions somehow get bits of outside information from the gods.

In their original world, Dark Elves didn’t have to live so cautiously or make deals with a courier.

They had thought about returning to their homeland, but the first obstacle wasn’t City Hall, it was the great Bloodhand Kane.

The Dark Elves couldn’t understand, but they had to comply since it was the god they chose.

"Great Witch, is there room for negotiation?"

Liu Zheng called out boldly.

"There is, but I don’t feel like negotiating right now."

Wolva replied with an odd smile.

"I see. Get her!"

With his command, Zhi Zi darted forward like an unleashed wild dog.

Before her body reached, the blade did.

"Secret Sword Wave Treading Slash!"

Invisible sword energy surged toward the treehouse like a tide, each wave stronger than the last, coming first though released later.

When the final wave reached the treehouse, the numerous strands of sword energy combined, causing the air to ripple like water waves.

The Yaksha, however, remained unmoved, seemingly unwilling to lower herself to act as a henchman.

"Tearing down a house right when you arrive isn’t quite the way to treat a host."

Wolva, unperturbed, thumped her iron magic wand on the floor.

The fingers of the bone hand grew wildly, wrapping the front of the treehouse like vines.

"Crack, crack, crack!"

The bone hand fractured segment by segment, crumbling into bone powder, but the white bone wall remained unbroken.

"Only by tearing down the walls can we communicate more frankly."

Liu Zheng said with a grin, holding the blade in his left hand and the sheath in his right.

His current most powerful combo should be "Your Mom’s Trash Can" paired with "Resentment Fish."

But considering the other seemed to be an undead mage, it’d be hilarious if the resentful spirits got persuaded to switch sides, so he didn’t use it.

Because the effect of "Hell in Front of You" was domain-type, with Zhi Zi’s skill and the sheath, it should suffice.

"Oh?"

Wolva expressed surprise as the bone wall transformed into a giant bone hand, perishing along with the sword energy.

"So you were the buyer."

She looked at the sheath and said.

"And you were the seller."

Liu Zheng paused in surprise, quickly catching on.

"That Nostradamus fellow said today I’d reconnect with an old acquaintance. I thought it was the Heram Priest, but turns out it’s you."

Wolva commented, half-smiling.

"In that case, come on in for a chat."

She pointed downward with her staff, extending a long bone ladder right to Liu Zheng’s feet.

"Then I won’t stand on ceremony."

He sheathed the Dragon Scale Blade and walked up the bone ladder, with Zhi Zi closely following.

The Yaksha hesitated briefly, then followed after Zhi Zi.

"A ’Life-taking Courier’ delivery slip? You do have a lot of good stuff."

Wolva, sharp-eyed, noticed the delivery slip in Liu Zheng’s tentacles.

"Being out and about, you tend to pick up some trash."

He joked lightly.

"True, the Metropolis is full of surprises."

Wolva agreed with him.

"So, Great Witch, you should go out for a stroll sometimes. You might find unexpected treasures."

As they spoke, Liu Zheng had already approached Wolva.

"No thanks, it’s safer for a wizard to stay in the Wizard Tower. Please, come in, dear guests."

Wolva shook her head, stepping aside to let them in.

Upon entering the treehouse, indeed, the inside was much larger than the outside, roughly over two hundred square meters.

Yet it still didn’t look like a witch’s dwelling. It resembled more of a Northern European-style farmhouse.

In the corners lay many farming tools; the walls even had cabbages, kales, and dill hanging.

"Doesn’t it look different from what you imagined?"

Wolva sensed his thoughts.

"Indeed, it does."

Liu Zheng admitted frankly.

"That’s because I was a farmer before awakening as a Witch. Please have a seat, everyone."

With a gesture, Wolva made an oak long table appear in the once-empty center of the room.

"Speaking of which, I’m quite curious, what’s the difference between witches, sorcerers, wizards, mages, magicians, witch doctors, and so on?"
