bChapter /bb432 /b

bSana /blet out a relieved breath and quickly ran to the curb. She gged down a taxi and climbed inside. Lately, she’d been spending a lot more on transportation just to avoid Wesley. Maybe it was time to consider buying a car.

On the other side of the city, Jessica was facing a simr problem as she got ready for work.

“I told you I have a car,” she said for what felt like the hundredth time recently. But just like always, Brianpletely ignored her.

“I know, but I worry about you,” Brian said. Without warning, he wrapped his arms around Jessica’s waist and scooped her up, carrying her to his car band /bsetting her down in the back seat.

Jackson smoothly opened the car door for Jessica and slid into the driver’s seat. He tactfully raised the partition between the front and back seatsb, /bcreating a private space that was surprisingly roomy.

Brian settled in beside Jessica and opened a hidden table. He arranged the breakfast he’d prepared earlier and poured her a ss of warm milk from ba /b

    thermos.

“Let’s eat breakfast first. You can be mad at me afterward,” he said with a slight smile.

Jessica was so frustrated she almostughed. She whipped around to face him, her eyes zing. “Are you trying to treat me like a bchild/bb?/bb” /bshe demandedbi. /i/b

Brian put on his most innocent expression. “I wouldn’t dare. Don’t overthink it. I’m just worried you’ll go hungry.” He pulled out a wet wipe and reached over to clean her hands.

Jessica quickly pulled her hands back.

Brian had been so attentive and consideratetely that she sometimes wondered if he saw her as a helpless toddler who couldn’t take care of herself.

No matter how angry Sana got or how much she questioned him, he just took it all with that patient, good–natured attitude of his. It made her feel like she was being unreasonable for getting upset at all.

‘This is so frustrating,‘ Jessica thought, but she didn’t want to deal with another round of Brian’s hovering care. She kept her head down and ate her

    breakfast quietly.

Brian watched her carefully, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He wasn’t getting too confident though. Wesley’s diagnosis about Jessica’s condition was still weighing on his mind.

Thinking about her illness, Brian nced at Jessica as she continued eating her breakfast in silence. He picked up his phone and started texting Wesley about Jessica’stest behavior and asking what he should do next.

Wesley replied almost immediately, and Brian shot back a quick response.

When Jessica finished her breakfast, she noticed Brian absorbed in his phone conversation with whoever he was texting. Her eyes dropped, and she looked away.

This probably wasn’t work–rted. Brian was always serious about business matters, and he usuallymunicated through voice calls or video chats. He rarely sent long text messages like this for work

It couldn’t be a friend either. Brian only had a few close personal friends, and they always called him directly when they bneed /b

“You-” Jessica systematically eliminated each possibility until only one option remained. She couldn’t help but lean bcloser /bbto /bbget /bba /bbbetter /bblook/b,

“Are you done eating?” Brian noticed her getting closer and quickly put his phone away. He looked up at her bwith /bconcern.

Jessica’s expression turned cold as she immediately pulled back to her original position.

Brian nced out the window and said reassuringly, “Almost there. Are you feeling stuffy, Jessica? I’ll open a window.” He used voice control to lower th window.

The cool morning breeze flowed in, but Jessica only felt more irritated. Still, seeing the elevated highway outside, she knew this wasn’t the time to the

She quietly took the seat farthest from Brian, closed her eyes, and said, “I’m tired. Don’t bother me.”
