They Want Me Back When It’s Too Late

Jessica tried to refuse but eventually gave up and let him have his way.
Thanks to this arrangement, Brian got to spend way more time with Jessica every day, which absolutely infuriated Madeline when she came by to scope things out and look for opportunities to cause trouble.
Madeline stared up at the two apartments, one brightly lit and the other dimly glowing. Right now, Jessica was probably eating one of Brian’s lovingly prepared dinners with sweet little Jake by her side.
It was the kind of happiness that made people sick with envy. Madeline’s desire for revenge reached its peak at that moment. She had to do something soon, or she’d absolutely lose her mind.
Early the next morning, Madeline bundled herself up in heavy clothing and headed to Grant Group.
“Excuse me, miss, who are you here to see?” the receptionist asked after studying her carefully for a while.
‘How weird,’ the receptionist thought. ‘Who wears that much clothing in this heat? She’s going to get heat rash.’
“Wrong,” Madeline said, using a voice changer to produce a rough, masculine voice.
The receptionist was startled and quickly corrected herself. “I’m sorry, sir. My mistake. How can I help you?”
‘He looks so thin, but his voice is so deep,’ she thought, confused.
“I’m waiting for someone,” Madeline said casually, then walked over to sit in the lounge area.
The receptionist wanted to ask who exactly he was waiting for, but when she saw the strange person sit down and start looking at his phone with no intention of talking, she decided to let it go.
He seemed harmless enough for now, so if he wanted to sit there, whatever.
Madeline pretended to scroll through her phone while actually keeping her eyes on everyone entering and leaving Grant Group.
With Brian hanging around Jessica’s neighborhood, she couldn’t find any opportunity to get close to her there. Now, she had to try breaking through from the office angle.
Madeline sat there for most of the day, and she actually spotted something suspicious.
In the afternoon, a casually dressed girl walked in carrying a gift box and handed it to the receptionist. The receptionist looked ufortable about it, but after the girl pestered her for a while, she finally epted it.
Madeline caught Jessica’s name mentioned in their conversation. ‘Was this girl delivering a gift for Jessica?’ she wondered. ‘Did Brian send her?’
That didn’t make sense. With how much Brian cared about Jessica now, if he was going to give her a gift, he’d probably deliver it himself. He wouldn’t just send some random girl who looked like a college student.
‘So why is this girl giving Jessica presents?’ Madeline thought.
Madeline wanted to pump the receptionist for information, but she was afraid of raising suspicions, so she let it go. Still, she filed the incident away in her memory.

The next day, Madeline skipped Grant Group and headed to Inkspire Studio instead. She pulled the same move as before, finding an empty spot where she could sit and watch the building for hours.
Sure enough, Madeline witnessed the same thing-another young girl came to deliver a gift for Jessica.
Madeline watched the girl’s eyes light up with excitement after the receptionist epted her present.
Suddenly, a possibility hit her. Madeline pulled out her phone and opened the fan forum dedicated to Brian and Jessica’s rtionship. Just as she suspected, she found plenty of posts from shippers showing off photos of gifts they’d sent to Jessica that had been epted.
‘I see… Madeline thought. A slow, wicked smile spread across her lips, her eyes gleaming with malicious intent. ‘Jessica, get ready for my next round of revenge,’ she thought with a cruelugh.
Outside Grant Group, Jessica had just gotten into the car when she felt a chill running down her spine.
Brian immediately turned up the heat. “Jessica, are you still cold?”
“When did I say I was cold?” Jessica couldn’t help but roll her eyes. ‘Brian really loves making assumptions,’ she thought.
Brian just shrugged off her snappy response and actually seemed relieved. “Good, as long as you’re not getting sick. Jessica, ! bought you a hat. Do you like it?” He bent down and handed her a bag from his seat.
