ncing at the time, he stood up. “Alright, time’s up. Let’s end the card game here for today. Everyone take a break. We’ll start the next activity in ten minutes.”

Chase, mid–shuffle, heard that, and his face turned so dark that it could have clouded over.

The game ending meant he’d lost any chance to make aeback today.

Lillian looked at his sour expression and couldn’t helpughing, “Who was it that told me to watch his ‘performance‘ earlier? This is it?”

Chase was already in a foul mood, and Lillian’s sarcasm pushed him over the edge. He stood up right away and snapped, “Lillian, don’t go too far.

“I’m not great, but I still won more than you. If you hadn’t kept distracting me, I never would’ve los that bad!”

Lillian shot back, “Oh, please, a loss is a loss. Stop making excuses. I think you’d better be a little more humble from now on. Remember, there’s always someone better out there.”

Chase was livid. He shot back, refusing to let her get the upper hand.

Connor nced at the two arguing in front of the cameras, a flicker of disdain crossing his face.

He turned, reached out, and looped his arm through Sabrina’s. “Sabrina, don’t worry. I’m not as childish as them. I’d never embarrass you in public.”

Sabrina lifted a hand and patted his head. “Good boy.”

Connor ate it up, nuzzling her hand, and hesitated before asking, “Sabrina, can I sleep in your bed. for the rest of the trip?”

Sabrina just calmly pulled her arm free and replied, “It depends on how you behave.” Then she left

But as soon as they reached the staircase out of the cameras‘ view, Vanessa immediately let go of Spencer’s arm. Spencer calmly pulled his hand back, too.

“Why are you so terrible at this? Losing left and right. It’s embarrassing.” Vanessa couldn’t help sounding disdainful, thinking back to the card game.

Compared to the other three men, Spencer’s performance was really poor, making her feel like she could barely hold her head up.

“Oh, please, even at my worst, I’m better than you. Trying to act like you know what you’re doing when you clearly don’t. You’re just used to putting on a show,” Spencer shot back.

He thought, ‘She thinks I’m embarrassing, but she’s hardly any better.

Vanessa scoffed, “Me, putting on a show? What about you? Sitting there with that fake smile the whole time. You really think no one noticed? You were practically seething with anger from losing but still pretending to be calm. Please.”

They’d been married for years after all. They knew exactly what each other was really like behind closed doors.

“Same to you,” Spencer said, dripping with sarcasm.

In the stairwell, Sabrina, who’d been hiding there smoking, heard every word of their bickering. She silently halved her opinion of both.

After they left, she crushed out her cigarette and headed off, too.

Having been out for a while, she was a bit thirsty. She nned to cut through the living room to get a bottle of water from the kitchen. On the way, she saw Jessica sitting on the couch and gently rubbing her belly with a smile on her lips.

Sabrina paused and casually said, “Vanessa and Spencer aren’t what they seem. Since you’re pregnant, you’d better watch out for them.”
